• "A lovely cottage and as the name suggests, right on the edge of Blenheim Park, an ideal location for visiting the Palace and Woodstock, however, parking is a problem, although we did find somewhere eventually, out of the permit zone."

  The cottage is comfortable, but general maintenance would not go amiss, lights, doors, switches, etc.,sometimes it’s the little things that make the difference, trying to find the lamp switches behind the bed was a pain, an outside light at the back would be helpful, and perhaps a few logs(there were none ),to complete the experience of a nice comfy cottage.

• "Great location, good outside space and certainly enough room for four."

  Cottage was a little tired and could benefit from some quick and cheap fixes- lamps in the bedroom, new bathslip matt, fixtures and fittings tightened up as things lose, e.g. dressing table mirror, toilet roll holder, front door handle and a general tidy up. Warm and comfortable overall

• "Location of the cottage brilliant close to Blenheim palace easy walk to village."

  Being left welcome pack pleasent surprise, however parking is a issue but we managed. Cottage itself in need of some TLC, lighting in kitchen under counter fluorescent tubes not working. Sofas not comfortable when you've been out all day, Shower touch & go Conservatory beautiful, but garden a let down very overgrown broken plant pots rusty dog water bowl,such a shame when sitting outside when you look out at lake. I'm sure once these are taken into account it'll be lovely for others, this is not disabled friendly.

• "Really enjoyed the accommodation, the place was really cosy and had everything you could want facilities wise."

  I was aware there was no parking so it is not a critique of the property but more so Woodstock as the parking was few and far between so we had to move the car around a lot and search for places to park. The only thing I’d change within the accommodation was the sofas, not very comfortable at all, which is something you really want on a winters break. Apart from that I had a lovey stay.

• "We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage is excellent in all respects, the accomodation, the facilities and the location."

  It was clean and everything that we might need had been thought of including the welcome pack. The conservatory is a great addition and being able to pop into Blenheim to walk our dog was a real treat. We stayed over a weekend and found parking easily enough in the street opposite. At night the traffic subsided enough not to disturb us. It was a very comfortable stay and we hope to return.

• "No parking - this alone caused the whole experience to be tainted."

  This should be emphasised on the advert, we would not have stayed there if we had known about the lack of parking. This next point might be classed as 'character' but the bedroom slopes down to the one side - thus the bed is slanting to one side. My recommendation is to level to the bed in the main bedroom. good points - cosy in winter and probably very nice in summer.

• "Could not have chosen a cottage in such an idyllic spot - literally right on the edge of Blenheim Park."

  We had everything we needed in the cottage - even Rodney the friendly cat nextdoor came to visit. Woodstock is lovely and had an abundance of places to eat catering for all. The people in Woodstock are also very friendly too. Would definitely go back.

• "Undoubtedly, this is a lovely cosy cottage with a bright conservatory/dining room very well positioned for walking into town and around the beautiful public areas of Blenheim Park."

  There were a couple of drawbacks for us, although it might make no difference to others. Parking can be stressful and it was seldom easy to find a space. The bathroom is downstairs. The stairs have a steep, narrow and sharp turn at the bottom. Not great in the middle of the night for anyone, but generally not good if you have any mobility or balance issues. The shower, no matter where you set the controls, runs intermittently very cold (not even tepid) which requires a lot of dodging. The cottage is not especially dog friendly, having no grass in the garden and there being none to the front of the property. If your dog, like ours, will only do its business in a grassy area you will need to go on a walk with it!

• "What a delightful little cottage - clean and comfortable."

  We felt very at home from the first minute. We loved the location, set as it is on the verge of Blenheim Palace grounds. We thought we would spend the week travelling in the car round all the little Cotswold villages but instead spent it walking round the grounds, visiting the Palace, and enjoying the excellent eateries of Woodstock. Many thanks to the proprietor for the recommendations! We had a lovely week

• "We had a wonderful time at the cottage and in Woodstock, perfect location for the park."

  Cottage was really well equipped and had everything we needed. Parking is a bit of an issue as not guaranteed and we knew this when booking, but we found a space as advised on the lane opposite which was fine for us and a couple of minutes walk - as long as you are prepared then its fine. There are a handful of spaces just along from the cottages but not readily available as residents park there, but we got a space on the last day which was really handy for loading up the car. We could not park on the first day there so had to do a few trips to unload but not an issue for us. The bathroom does need more lighting, only one small light over the sink - there are 2 light fittings in the ceiling but bulbs removed, I would suggest replacing the lights or put something else in its place to give more light. We added on the extra day to our holiday so 8 days, and we thoroughly enjoyed. We had our dog with us and we found The Kings Arms just up the hill really dog friendly and welcoming. Look forward to re-visiting again in the future.

  The extractor fan over the oven didn't work and the strip light above the sink didn't work. It would be worth putting an explanation beside the telly to explain how to get it to work!

• "Great location, just a short walk into Woodstock town where there are lots of lovely pubs and cafes, also Blenheim palace is very close by."

  The cottage really did feel like a home away from home, very cosy, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds. TV has amazon fire stick which was handy. Lovely bathroom with gorgeous big fluffy towels, shame it's on the ground floor and access is via the conservatory but I guess that's just the way the house is laid out. Not great for parking either but these are only very minor points, all in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the causeway.

• "Parking on road limited but we managed."

  Location the best thing about this cottage. Both of us hit our heads on the understairs cupboard lintel. I acquired a lump my husband a cut on his scalp. French door to garden was boarded up due to it being smashed in high winds by previous tenants. Had to get neighbour around to show us how to open/close as we were worried about damaging the frame. We'd not been informed by Sykes beforehand and they were not helpful when we called them. The stove had a cracked glass door which would have put us off using it (if it had been cold enough). Comments alerting the owner to maintenance issues in the Guest Book have not been responded to.

• "We had the most enjoyable holiday at your wonderful cottage."

  Everything was perfect. Very warm, comfortable, bright and spotless. How thoughtful to provide a welcome pack. Even though it is on a main road, the excellent double glazing kept the road noise to a minimum. We loved the fact that the bathroom is through the conservatory. We will return again one day.

• "This is a characterful cottage with the benefit of being on the edge on the beautiful Blenheim estate."

  From the conservatory you look in to the estate, and it's just a very short walk to gain free entry and walk around the grounds.. the sensory in the estate is breathtaking and made our stay. The cottage itself was cosy and had most of the things we needed. The down side is just one downstairs bathroom, limited storage space, no wardrobe in the main bedroom, we had to share with our daughters in the next bedroom, not ideal.note that the cottage is on a busy main road and lots of trafiic noise at night As other comments, the parking is a challenge and should be made more clear in the advert. There are 2/3 parking spaces on the roadside, available on a first come basis between a number of houses. Other parking is across the road in a residential street, hope they didn't mind us parking there. Really not great if you have a number of suitcases to carry. In the end the positives of Blenheim out weighed the negatives. And for the price was good value..

• "The cottage was very clean and well equipped."

  A few down sides to it is that you get to the only bathroom from the conservatory that is open to the passing public in the park due to no blinds. the other fault is the TV stand. The TV is blocked out by the settees so you have to put it on a stool from the kitchen so you can watch it. The cottage is on a bend of a very busy road with no parking directly outside. you can park on the street opposite but can be difficult depending on time of day. the village itself is lovely and the pubs are dog friendly but the cafes aren't. My recommendation would be is to go visit this area, loads to do but leave the dog at home a lot of places aren't dog friendly.

• "Your description of a bathroom ‘ideally’ situated on the ground floor is , of course, estate agent speak , because in almost no ones world is it ideally situated."

  We knew on booking that it was ground floor which we dislike but this was a compromise . We did not anticipate that it was accessed through a conservatory , glass all round, & that the join between conservatory ( sorry, ‘dining room’ in your world) & lounge involved a 2” lip up follow by 4” drop down . This is important when in the latter case , you are getting up in the night to go to the toilet , & in the former , wanting to get washed in the morning. Bear in mind there is a public footpath in full view a few yards away. The shower was unsuited to a holiday let because it is fixed height ( for someone very tall) so with no shower caps , difficult to avoid getting hair wet. The kitchen has a tiled work surface with grouting , so impossible to keep clean . The double bedroom , not photographed I notice, is the smaller less attractive one.Why? We worked out it would be perfectly a possible to fit the two somewhat chunky single beds in the smaller room & allow couples to enjoy the extra room , wardrobes & pretty fireplace. Anyone, seeing an assurance that there is parking on street would assume this was a sreet you could see. You can’t. I felt misled in this respect. We had to cart suitcases some distance & cross a busy A road with them. The cottage heating was on day & night which we are not used to & because it was way too hot especially when cooking , my husband reduced the temperature. I felt the visitors handbook was halfhearted. No decent instructions for getting the tv started , & again , different to ours. A quick comprehensive guide to putting the heating on timer would have helped. Issues in the visitor book about positioning of the tv have not been addressed. You have to move both settees for two people to see the whole screen. Anyway , not my most successful choice of accommodation you can see. A good job the walks , Blenheim , Oxford , & RSPB reserve which we found , delivered completely in the holiday experience.

• "Beautiful, cosy Cottage, short walk into Woodstock small town which was picturesque and had all amenities required."

  Went to Church on Christmas morning and was made to feel very welcome by the locals. Cottage was beautifully appointed and the walk into Blenheim Palace ( through green gates to the right of front door) was stunning. I would 100% recommend this cottage and would like to come back one day!

• "The Causeway is in an excellent location next to Blenheim Palace and easy 5 minute walk into lovely Woodstock."

  Comfortable stay in a nicely decorated, well equipped ,clean cottage. The garden is very secure for your dog. Walks to be had in the Blenheim estate and across the road there is a 7 mile circular walk to Wootton.(access next to the Black Prince pub).Everything was fine except for the shower pressure which is poor and the television stand is far to low. These issues can be fixed though.Parking may be an issue in the busy holiday times of the year. There is some road noise. Never the less, I consider myself to be a light sleeper and was not awoken by road noise. There are secondary internal windows which helps muffle any noise. Milk,bread,jam,cheese,tea, coffee,sugar and chocolate biscuits were supplied. However,there was no starter pack for the wood burner left for us on our arrival as per description. When we contacted the owner she said she had asked Sykes to remove this from the description. However, it was delivered to us the next day by the housekeeper.I do not think it is a good idea to remove this as it took us 6 hours to travel to Woodstock and then we had to go back out again to look for somewhere that sells wood . All in all had a great stay and highly recommend this cottage.
