  • "Easter cottage was perfect."

A lovely stay in this spacious but cosy home in a pretty, quiet village. The heating system worked really well and was easy to use. The log burner was a lovely addition to the large living room. Plenty of hot water served the good quality bathrooms. The beds were super comfy and insured a good nights sleep by all. The Kitchen was well equipped and the welcome goodies a nice touch. We hope to return for a longer stay soon.

Thank you for this lovely review. We're delighted you enjoyed your stay at Easter Cottage and loved the village too. We hope to welcome you again. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "The sofas in the lounge were uncomfortable."

Instructions on how to use the belling Stove in the Kitchen would have been extremely useful, We found the cottage very well equipped, There were marks on the walls which could have been easily cleaned off and the hall floor could have been cleaner. The bedding and beds were very comfy and although it is a large cottage, the heating was easy to use and we found it very cosy. Outside the tables and chairs were covered in sticky red berries, so despite the weather being good we were unable to sit out, maybe covers would be an idea. We found that the berries were sticking to our shoes and as such were being carried into the Cottage which was awkward for us all. It says in the blurb that there is parking for one car, but anything bigger than a very small car would be impossible to fit into the drive. The gates on the drive need adjusting and maybe some W D forty on it. It would also have been good if there was somewhere to sit in the bedrooms to apply makeup and attend to your hair, even if it was a small shelf and you could sit on the bed, would be better than none at all.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback following your stay and we are glad you found the property cosy and well equipped. We will take your suggestions regarding some of the other items you have mentioned to the owner. There are normally instruction manuals left in the property for the appliances so we are sorry if these were not visible or available during your stay. We will look to add these and will mention your comments regarding the clean to our housekeeping team. The property does have one parking space on the drive behind the gates and we will look at the adjustment/running of them, however with the property being in such a great, quiet location with ample off road parking right in front of the property guests often end up parking there and using the paved area for additional amenity space to enjoy. Comfortable cottage and clean in a great location. The only point to note is that the 4th bedroom (annex) is completely separated from main building with access through kitchen door. Might be a bit tricky for groups of 2 families with small children. Overall, We had a great stay at the cottage.

We are very pleased to hear you had such a great stay and found the cottage clean and comfortable. It is very well placed for exploring the Cotswolds. We will amend our property description slightly regarding the annexe access to ensure future guests are aware that it is link detached with its own entrance. Thank you for your feedback, and we are sorry that the garden furniture was not in a useable condition. This has now been removed and we are awaiting delivery of a new table and chairs very soon. Apologies for the lack of cleaning products, this was an oversight by the housekeeping team. we hope these didn't detract too much and you managed to enjoy your holiday. Best wishes Manor Cottages. • "A lovely property with very comfortable beds and lots of space."

Great wood burner as well. The Burrow was an excellent addition and very cosy. A lovely location and full of character. A couple of points re housekeeping, a few bulbs don’t work. There was no welcome washing up pack so we had to buy sponges and dishwasher tablets and washing pods. There was an empty suitcase and used bags of laundry left in the kitchen. Whilst this did not detract from our stay I would have expected these housekeeping issues to be addressed as this is not a low priced property. You also need a new outside table and chairs as they are wobbly. That said we had a fantastic time!

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Easter Cottage. We are delighted to hear you enjoyed the cottage and it's set in a lovely area in the Cotswolds. We can only appolgise if the Houskeeper forgot to leave your cleaning pack and we will investigate why laundry was left at the House, prior to your arrival. The owner has purchased new garden furniture, which will be at the property as soon as it arrives. We hope to welcome you again in the future. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, all rooms were well appointed and comfortable."

We were a party of 8 and there was plenty of room for us all including the dog. 6 of us in the main building and 2 in the annexe which has its own fridge (which was most needed as a beer/drinks fridge as the kitchen fridge wasn’t big enough). I particularly liked the log burner on what was a cold and damp weekend. Also a nice touch was the welcome pack of essentials. A typical Cotswold setting with a very nice village pub where we had a lovely meal. The only (small) gripes were that upon arrival there were a a few dead insects which I thought should have been vacuumed up and no kitchen scales (I know a bit pathetic but I’m a keen cook and my sticky toffee pudding was a disaster). All in all a great weekend.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are pleased that your party enjoyed your stay and made good use of the log burner and welcome pack. We have passed on your comments to our Housekeeping Team. Thank you for the recommendation of the village pub. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "A beautiful conversion of two cottages into one of a very high standard, spotlessly clean and well appointed."

Six of us stayed in Easter Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed the facilities. Absolutely up to the standard we have come to expect from Sykes. We had some meals in several well known and guide recommended hostelries but the best meal and ambience was in walking distance at the "local" ~ The Rose & Crown. A couple of housekeeping matters ~ there would appear to be a wasps nest in the roof because a few "dozy" wasps fell into the end bedroom to the left going up the stairs. A few more coat hangers in the master bedroom would be appreciated and we couldn't find any black bags for the bedlinen. I think the woodshed must have ended up on the fire because we couldn't find it or any logs ! None of these minor matters detracted from our enjoyment of Easter Cottage.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Easter Cottage. It's wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed your stay, it's situated in a fabulous location, lots of great Restaurants to eat at and also places to visit. We will pass on your feedback with regards to the wasps nest and check this out and also look at adding a few extra hangers. We hope to welcome you back again very soon. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback, it's much appreciated and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Easter Cottage. From your feedback we investigated and can confirm there were no signs of any animal activity in the loft. Super clean and also a great space to feel like home for a short while. I think more sets of wine glasses and a few more utensils would be good. • "We appreciated that the cottage provided a few extras such as tea, milk, crisps and biscuits on arrival, and we were not expecting these."

The cottage itself was beautifully furnished and was as described. One thing we did want to feedback, is that there wasn't anything in the information, about a venue of some description (or appeared to be) where they were hosting a wedding/celebration. I believe this was the large house next door and its gardens backed onto the cottage. We heard a lot of noise late into the night for 2 nights. This was ok for us but may be worth noting for anyone with young children or those who may have trouble sleeping! It was slightly unexpected given the remote location. It didn't however have any impact on our enjoyment.

Many thanks for your feedback on Easter Cottage and we agree it is a beautiful house. We apologise that you were not informed prior to your stay regarding the celebration at a neighboring house. We always endeavor to make guests aware should we know in advance. Manor Cottages Property Owner

About the location

BURFORD

Swinbrook 2.4 miles; Little Barrington 3.5 miles; Minster Lovell 5.6 miles.

Burford is possibly one of, if not the most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, it is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford which later grew to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. Located midway between Oxford and Cheltenham, it is a little haven of history and beauty that many come to fall in love with when they visit. The 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. The church is stunning, a real gem architecturally with many interesting memorials charting some of Burford's great families. There is also the signature, on the baptisimal font, of Antony Sedley, one of the Levellers besieged in the church in 1649 - three of the ringleaders were executed by Oliver Cromwell's men in the churchyard. History awaits! With little change over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and tea shops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudeley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all within ten miles.
