Loved the original features, despite being on a busy road once the windows were shut, we didn't hear much at all. Clean and tidy, location was great

  • "Hare House is well placed, less than a five minute walk in to Chipping Norton and all its amenities."

Having said that it does sit on a very busy main road which is double yellow lined, (making the front & only garden very noisy) there is no where to park even to unload, the parking was a real problem during our stay. The long stay car park is nearby, 12 hours free but no return with in 24. No welcome pack on arrival, but also no toilet paper in any of the three toilets with in the property ? It also had an Ant infestation in the living room on arrival, which was dealt with very quickly by the letting agent.

We "lost" a small but much-loved child's toy, a wooden cupcake. We think it is in the house. If found please let me know.

Thank you for your feedback, we are glad you enjoyed Hare House. We have asked the housekeeper to look for the small wooden cupcake and will be in touch if found. Best Wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

Carpets ripped on steps to living room and kitchen there answer is to put tape along it which was peeling off and a trip hazard . Avoid this house it really isn’t worth the money and poorly maintained

  • "Hare house is in a great location, parking wasn’t a problem and is in easy walking distance of shops and lots of lovely pubs."

It is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We had expected some basic supplies such as milk, tea bags (there were a very limited number for the number of guests) and pods for the coffee machine. The house instruction book needs some updating, the wifi code was wrong and the thermostat has changed so we couldn’t work out how to use the heating. We would definitely stay again, it was brilliantly located and equipped and very easy with a dog.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Hare House. It's lovely to hear you had a good stay with us as the house and thank you for the feedback, we will get our Managed Services to update the welcome folder for future guests and have a look at thermostat on the next changeover. We would love to welcome you again very soon. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

Thank you for this lovely review and we're so glad you enjoyed your Christmas at Hare House. Parking was not an great issue. There were only the two of us my wife and I, but we think with six it should be a little bit crowdy especially in the kitchen. Chipping Norton is a great place to explore the Cotswolds, we did many places of the National Trust (being member). We had fine eatings in the Fox and the Chequers

  • "Hare House is a well equipped & comfortable 3 bedroom property."

It is well located close to the town centre. The main disadvantage is that the only outside space is a small seating area at the front, secluded from the pavement of a main road into Chipping Norton by a thin hedge. The road noise in the front bedroom is also a minor disadvantage. Overall we felt that it didn’t quite justify its high end price tag.

Thank you for the lovely feedback. I'm sorry to hear about the noise being a bit of an issue for you and i can assure you we take all feedback on board. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Best wishes Manor Cottages. Property Owner

  • "A group of ladies stayed for the weekend at Hare House , whilst the cottage is well equipped & clean I did feel it lacked certain elements you would expect when paying over £1,000 for a 3 night stay ."

Some of the decor is a bit dated , cracked tiles in bathroom window sill on middle floor , broken Roman blind in middle room took 2 of us to get down & just left it down for the whole weekend as it was so fiddly , no mirror in top bedroom , about 6 coat hangers in the whole 3 bedrooms ! The only hooks for coats in downstairs toilet did not allow for a long coat as the coat hook is placed over washing machine . The outside space is facing out on to the main road , it is enclosed by hedges but there was a lot of traffic noise from the main . Also the garden was starting to get overgrown it had clearly not been attended to recently . The parking as at booking I realise it did say there was no allocated space but felt there could make suggestions for local parking as a lot of the surrounding roads are double yellow lines & the free parking just up the road was for 12 hours only . The location is very good for the shops , town & pubs . I realise my review sounds really picky but felt for the price things could be better .

Thank you for the constructive feedback. We hope you had a lovely stay with us despite the few issues. I can assure you we have our maintenance team to fix the tiles and blind. I will also ensure the garden is seen too and we add a description for alternative parking. I do apologies for the inconvenience caused. Best Wishes, Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Positives: Perfect location, bedrooms of a good size and comfortable, bathrooms very nice."

Negatives: The house smells stale and it could not be overshadowed by candles and air freshener. Downstairs is small, not large enough for 6. The kitchen chairs are uncomfortable and it is cramped to eat in the kitchen. There is mould around the kitchen sink. We found a drinks bottle and sweet wrappers underneath one of the sofas. The downstairs toilet gets blocked easily. Generally, the pictures look great in the marketing, but the house is not to the same standard as the advertising. Very disappointing and we left early. We would not return.

Many thanks for taking the time to feedback on your stay at Hare House. We're very sorry about the cleanliness issues you experienced during your stay at Hare House. This is not the standard we expect our housekeepers to clean to. Therefore, this will be brought to the attention of the housekeeping team to ensure no future guests experience the same problem. Parking was a bit of an issue but we were warned in advance so expected it on arrival. The photos of the cottage on your we site must have been taken quite a while ago as the bushes out front are much more established now. In respect of this , the downstairs of the property could do with some tlc, was shocked about the state of the walls and skirtings on entering. Confusing situation about the bins, could not find a recycling one, hence the main one was full when we left, sorry. Finally a table and chairs in the garden would have been welcome. Overall a good stay though.

  • "A few small things spoilt an otherwise lovely week."

There was sufficient room for four but six people would be a bit tight. There was no microwave, which surprised us. Similarly the absence of a cafetiere. The second floor bath looked 'cool' but I doubt if anyone has used it. Certainly the hand held shower would leave water all over the floor if you were brave enough to try it! Somewhere to hang clothes in the top bedroom would be helpful, too. A light near the key safe would help in that dark ally. Putting wine glasses on the wicker basket which doubled as a coffee table looked dodgy so we didn't! The people who fit out cottages should spend a minimum of two nights there so they know what works and what just looks 'cool'. Apart from that everything was OK!

Thank you for your feedback. We will look in to all the issues raised. We hope to welcome you back to the area in the future. Manor Cottages Property Owner

It’s very clean and well appointed. Well equipped kitchen and large living room. Extra armchair would be useful for 6 people to be more comfortable. Parking close to house not always possible but managed to find a space close by. Try the Swan inn (Ascot under Wychwood ) superb food. A Small table and chairs in the front garden would be a nice addition to sit outside.

Very clean and well maintained with comfy beds and amazing top en suite bedroom, Very traditional which meant a little creaky and front room hard to heat up despite radiator and log burner. Property would also benefit from an iron. welcome pack with cookies and (a good) bottle of prosecco was a very thoughtful touch. Easy booking and check in and out although 4pm check in and 10am check out felt pretty tight and limited our time in the cottage which was a shame.

Thank you for you comments, w!are very pleased you enjoyed your stay at Hare House. As there was only the very small outside space at the front of the house we felt it could have made into a nice space to sit with some nice seating. As things are at the moment I would not consider hare house a 5 star rental.

Firstly thank you for choosing Hare House and we are extremely sorry that the cleanliness was not up to our usual standard. In relation to the outside space at the front, as you state it is very small and it is felt as it is open to a busy main road, seating out there would generally not be used by guests. There is a bench out the front if guests do wish to sit outside. Property Owner

Also found the bus service to Oxford very cheap and convenient. The cottage was lovely - just a few minor niggles. The lounge could do with another easy chair - for six the two sofas are not sufficient. Not enough pillows for each person to have two each. We were lucky with car parking but it is not as easy on the street as Manor Cottages led me to believe when I specifically asked! Overall it was a great house and would return.

The property

Hare House is a truly neat-as-a-pin town house as one could wish for.

Set across three floors and stylishly updated for families and small groups, this gem of a holiday home is the perfect spot to make the most of Chipping Norton.

Located a few moments from the market square, this gorgeous home has a lovely, cosy feel to it warm and welcoming with colour and style that makes it feel like it's fresh from the pages of a magazine!

The owners clearly have a good eye for style, yet have kept it simple and restful and nicely uncluttered.

The flare also comes to life with the little pictures of rabbits and hares you will come across.

Inside, there is a spacious living room with wood burner, a compact but well equipped kitchen for your inner Nigella...

whilst upstairs are three large bedrooms and two luxury bathrooms, all large and airy and with plenty of space to spread out and relax.

Outside is a small gravelled terrace area, but to be honest you are just as likely to pop up the street to one of the local cool cafes to save on your washing up!!

We really like Hare House and love its 'feel'.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
