Lamorna Cottage is a gem of a traditional Cotswold detached cottage hidden away in the centre of Chipping Norton.
We welcome you to what has been our family home for 20 years and hope you will enjoy it as we do, for its unbelievable peace, privacy and silence, We are artists and we hope you will find it an inspirational place; as an oasis for joyful celebrations and a sanctuary for when the world gets a little crazy.
Great for families, great for friends, perfect for a weekend away, a short holiday or a long retreat.
The cottage is hidden down an alleyway off the most beautiful street in Chipping Norton.
Equipped to the best standard, it has tonnes of character and loads of original features.
The snug sitting-room has a wood-burning stove, soft lighting and cosy sofas and sits off the dining-room/library, this room is filled with light and looks out onto the cottage garden and patio.
The kitchen is small but mighty, with cookery books and a full compliment of appliances and cookware.
Upstairs you will find three bright and beautiful bedrooms and the family bathroom, the views from the two double bedrooms are out to the Cotswold landscape towards the church.
Outside, the very sweet cottage garden works hard in its space - in the summer you can sit in the sun as it moves around, from breakfast to dinner, and hide in the shade when the sun is too strong.
There is a patio for outside formal dining and a deck for BBQing.
Across the road is The Chequers; best pub in Chippy, and the world famous Chippy Theatre which produces the highly regarded Christmas Pantomime as well as productions straight from Edinburgh and the West End.
Three minutes walk from the alley are the butchers, bakers, supermarket and the rest; Chipping Norton is a busy town with a Wednesday market, fantastic bookshops, loads of good coffee hangouts, a cinema and Theatre, a lido in the summertime and some lovely independent shops.
The best Saturday farmers market is in Deddington, a short drive away.
All our local knowledge is shared in the house welcome book, but you are in easy reach of amazing walks and small exquisitely beautiful Cotswold villages.
Nearby are fabulous gardens, such as Rousham, Batsford, and the Cotwold Wildlife Park and stately homes including Blenheim, Sezincote, Chastleton, and Hidcote, You can also find the popular Diddly Squat Farm Shop, as seen on Clarkson's Farm, Daylesford, Wychford Pottery, with further amenities in the lovely towns of Stow-on-the-Wold (9 miles) Woodstock (11 miles) Burford (11 miles), Oxford (20 miles), Stratford-upon-Avon (22 miles) and Soho Farmhouse is a short drive away (7.6 miles).
Please note that some of the privacy is due to our location down a short alley off the street, there are steps, plus the house was originally two houses so there are more steps.
Parking in our street is busy, but only rarely is there a problem, Sometimes we have to engage patience; it is a small price to pay for peace - right in the centre of this lovely market town.
For your Cotswold adventure, Lamorna Cottage is an ideal home to base yourself.
