  • "Nice cottage, fully equipped."

The only downside was the heating in a cold cottage was unresponsive to heating in the first 24 hours, 1 living room radiator did not work at all. Log burner only had 3 logs, 3 single pieces of paper, 4 very small firelighter blocks and 3 matches, hardly a warm welcome in a cold cottage. The welcome book with instructions etc should have been left on a table so it was visible, we shouldn't have to hunt around for it especially when the heating was needed with a young child.

Good evening, This feedback is extremely helpful, thank you. We have shared all of this with the appointed company who assists us with the running of the cottage. We both agree that the welcome book should be left in an obvious place. This has not come up before but we have raised accordingly. Extraordinary that there were not enough logs and firelighter blocks, a fresh order was recently delivered. Another order will be made. The wood store is located in the courtyard garden, to the side of the property. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at Lynton Cottage."

The property is quaint and cosy, with a good size kitchen diner for socialising. The beds were very comfortable with qiality bedding throughout. Parking on the drive is only for a small car, but pavement parking was adequate. We went to the Crown Inn for a meal on the first night, but food was poor. All in all a very enjoyable 4 night stay.

Thank you for kindly sharing your feedback of your stat at Lynton Cottage. We took time to select the furniture with comfort in mind. The aim, to feel like a home from home. Surprising to hear about your meal as it’s usually 5* service and very tasty. We look forward to welcoming you back. This time of year is particularly beautiful as the leaves change in colours and it’s just getting a little cooler, almost time for getting snug in front of the fire at the cottage. Property Owner

The cottage met all of our needs and exceeded all of our expectations. Lovely peaceful village location with a great pub nearby.

We’re delighted that your stay at Lynton Cottage exceeded all of your expectations, that makes us extremely happy to hear. Church Enstone has so much history and as such, it is impossible not to fall in love with the local people and its beautiful surroundings, and yet the cottage is still close to Chipping Norton and all of the other country delights such as Daylesford. We very much look forward to welcoming you back soon. Property Owner

  • "We absolutely loved our stay at Lynton Cottage."

However, we were disappointed by a number of things. There was no hot water in the master bathroom and although the owner told us how to rectify the issue, there was no running water in the master bathroom in order to fix it. This meant we were unable to use the master bathroom at all during our stay and there was no hot water to the bath to bathe two young children who do not like showers. This appeared to be an ongoing issue which the owner needs to rectify. The wifi did not work during our stay either despite trying to reset it and turn it off a number of times. The owner expected me to reach out to the wifi provider to rectify the issue which I didn’t think was very fair. I had no mobile internet at the property to do this anyway. This made it hard for us to entertain the two young children at times. Another issue was that the BBQ was left dirty by previous guests so we did not use it. I also picked out dirty cups and dishes when I went to use them which I feel should be checked before every guest stay. Nevertheless, the property was absolutely beautiful in itself, especially the courtyard, which did make up for some of these issues. It is set in the most idyllic village which was perfect for country walks and we were able to enjoy the pub just a few steps away from the house. The house was perfect for our family stay and made our Mum’s 60th very special. I am sure myself and my family would stay at the cottage again so long as these issues are rectified!

Good evening Emily, thank you for taking the time to write to us. We have already connected with the cleaning providers to ensure that such items are checked and double checked, and we were not aware sadly that the BBQ required cleaning otherwise this would have been addressed. We do state that should a guest use it, they are to clean it, which on this occasion a previous guest has not. I am somewhat at a loss with the bathroom as it’s newly fitted and after a contractor review and investigations, a method was put in place to release an airlock which meant it was all working fine. This is certainly very important to us both and of concern as clearly the previous plumber has failed to correct the fault, and as such we are taking further action to rectify this. UPDATE: the issue has now been resolved and the hot water in that bathroom is working effectively (23/08/24). Fortunately there are two other bathrooms at the cottage but we do appreciate how difficult that must have been for you, especially as your children do not like taking showers. This is a focus and we apologise. As for the WiFi this is certainly news to us and we have not received any feedback of this nature before. I am of the understanding that the company assisting with the WiFi (lack of) during your stay had requested that they were required to speak to you directly in order to help talk you through how best to rectify. I believe this was why you were advised to contact them directly. This is being looked into as a matter of urgency. Whilst we would prefer these types of things did not come up, when they do we will always continue to try and be on hand to resolve where possible and we trust that from reading your comments that you still managed to have a wonderful time celebrating your mothers 60th birthday. Very happy belated birthday and thank you all once again for sharing your comments, of which are most helpful. Warmest regards, Lynton Cottage Property Owner

  • "The cottage itself was lovely and suited our party well, but unfortunately, several issues detracted from our overall experience."

Firstly, the cleanliness left much to be desired. We found dirty toilets, extremely dusty and hairy bedrooms, grease and dust on the fridge door and floor, and even used contact lenses and dirty socks (not ours) to name a few concerns. Additionally, the top floor bathroom was unusable due to zero water pressure and no hot water in both the bath and shower. The kitchen was also under-equipped for a larger party. As a self-catering cottage with cookery books available, we expected to find adequate cooking equipment. However, there were no larger cooking pots, casserole dishes, or even a measuring jug, which made cooking for our group challenging. Upon arrival, we were greeted by an overflowing general waste bin by the front door, with flies swarming everywhere, which was quite off-putting. While we did enjoy our stay overall, the cottage could have been amazing with a few improvements. As it stands, I don't feel it offered good value for money.

Thank you for kindly taking the time to write to us. Important to let you know that all of your points are duly noted. With regards to the top floor bathroom it has come to our attention that on occasion there is an airlock. This can be very easily remedied and since further investigations we will now ensure that guests are aware and we will be writing to them with the details as to how best to remedy that should it ever occur, which it may not always do so. There is also going to be an additional printout with the basic outline of how you can easily remedy this at the cottage should it ever occur. Fortunately there are two other bathrooms at the cottage and a separate cloakroom should there be any issues at any point, and we will continue to be on hand where possible to advise, and assist as naturally we would very much like our guests to have the best time possible. We have since made a change to our cleaning provider and the linen provider. We would once again like to thank you for assisting us and sharing us with your views and we are delighted that you enjoyed the cottage and your stay overall. Lynton cottage looks forward to welcoming you, family, or friends again, and at which point as a gesture of goodwill, we will offer a form of discount. As the cottage was built in the 17th century it will invariably have quirks and we take onboard all comments to remedy should we be required to do so, as it is vital but also essential for us to move forward in the direction of positivity to fulfil our overall goal, which is to provide excellent standard to ensure the ultimate experience for our guests, that we also expect when we book somewhere to stay. Thank you. Warmest regards Lynton cottage Property Owner

  • "Very cute cottage, very deceiving looks tiny from the road then opens up into this big property with plenty of space for everyone!"

Two tvs in two sitting areas so those who didn’t want to watch the football had a choice!! A couple of niggles…we were at full capacity of 8 adults not enough bowls or side plates per person, and when we arrived 4 of us had very damp bath towels & they weren’t the largest towels!! I feel cottage could do with a new set of towels hand & bath. Overall though a great location, very comfy beds & very pretty property with lovely outside sitting area.

Firstly, thank you very much for your feedback, it is very important to us to hear your views and make any changes where possible, or required. As this is the first year Lynton is welcoming her guests, we are learning all the time and very much happy to learn, especially when it comes to the general running of the cottage. We have since instructed a new cleaning and linen provider. I am aware that once we were informed of the towel situation, replacements we provided to you (on the same day) Delighted you slept well in the beds. With no expense spared we tried to provide luxury comfort mattresses and beds from Soho Home and sofa.com All points are duly noted, with thanks and we very much look forward to welcoming you all again soon. • "We were a large group with both adults and children, so the house was perfect in terms of size."

There is plenty of communal space both inside and outside, as well as the number of bedrooms and bathrooms. However, after the number of reviews regarding the top floor bathroom, I would expect this would have been resolved by now. Unfortunately this was not the case for our stay, and even worse we had no water whatsoever for the upstairs bathroom. This is real shame, as outside of this, it’s perfect for a weekend retreat.

Good morning, we are truly delighted that you enjoyed your stay, minus the lack of water to the top floor bathroom. We are somewhat frustrated too as the information was provided to the necessary contacts, but sadly the same information doesn’t have appeared to have made its way to you. To ensure no issues come up going forward, and thanks to your help for bringing to our attention, we will be providing a print out at the cottage as to how best easily remedy it, should an air lock ever occur. These processes are being put in place and will be delivered to the cottage. We look forward to welcoming you again soon. Thanks again! Property Owner

  • "Lynton Cottage is a special place, the layout, décor and furnishing all excellent."

The beds are very comfortable. The courtyard was a major advantage as it has the sun all day (when its shines, as it did for us!). The pub nearby is a major bonus, and the village is absolutely beautiful. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking for six people. Unfortunately, we also had the troubles reported previously by past occupiers. The shower in the top bathroom only provides hot water and no cold, therefore its unusable. Strange, as the bath next to it seemed to run fine. The shower in the green bathroom had a pitiful flow. We only used the heating once, which was fine, but it would have been nice to have heated towel rails. This is not what I would expect when paying this amount. In conclusion, we would definitely go back again, but would need some assurance the plumbing has been sorted.

We very much look forward to welcoming you all again and our sincere apologies regarding the points raised, all of which we are important to us and being investigated into further. Fortunately, due to an air lock, we believe easily remedied. We have since sent a contractor to review. Thank you for kindly being to our attention. We have separately since, instructed a new maintenance provider. Property Owner

  • "This cottage is beautifully furnished with plenty of shared space for the number of bedrooms/occupants and a well thought through inventory of utensils."

The courtyard, with its sunny aspect and multiple seating areas was a favourite. The quiet location but near a fantastic pub with super food choices was also a bonus. The only thing we’d have wanted more of is better and more instructions about operating the facilities. Showers and heating seemed to be a particular struggle. As it’s April - and pretty chilly - the evenings needed a heating boost in the house. Although we are entirely supportive of prudent use of fuel, it was not straightforward to warm the place up. Similarly, there was insufficient hot water, some showers seemed not to receive hot water or there was difficulty controlling the temperatures on the top floor bathroom, and in the green bathroom, controls were temperamental. Navigating this was not easy during a very short stay (ie - a bit frustrating but not a huge issue). It would also have been handy to have left some logs for the wood burner. Overall a wonderful place and we’d consider returning. Thank you

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for kindly sharing your thoughts, all of which have been considered and action implemented. We believe the matter at hand was in relation to an airlock. We very much look forward to welcoming you all again soon. The Crown Inn is truly delightful and I’m glad that you managed to get a booking. There are many charming and wonderful things to enjoy in that part of the world. I strongly suggest you book The Cotswolds Guy when you next stay at Lynton. Property Owner

Plenty of space and everything you need. Comfy beds and big living areas perfect. Garden for dogs. Exactly what we were after. My only negatives are the central heating and the dishwasher, doesn’t seem like we’re the first guests to have issues either. Boost button on the thermostat didn’t always work, the radiators only warm and the house got cold quickly with it being winter. As above, we still loved our time in the cottage and it was a perfect location, maybe just something to keep in mind.
