  • "Absolutely gorgeous cottage with every available mod con from ninja air fryer to coffee machines, dish washer etc."

Very quiet village with lovely pub just down the lane. Only problem was when we arrived the outside bin was full and we couldn’t find any recycling bags so had to leave our recycling in a carrier indoors as it was raining on departure. Overall we had a fantastic few days and would highly recommend this cottage.

  • "It was great, a very nice , quiet village."

The Granary was comfortable and clean and well equipped. Two things to mention however, the shower needs a little attention, it has a sticking control lever, and the garden could do with a few plants.

Thank you for your feedback following your recent stay. We are glad that you found the property comfortable and well equipped and appreciate the comments you have raised regarding the shower and the garden. We will send maintenance out to investigate the sticking control level. We hope to welcome you back to the Cotswolds again. Kind Regards, Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "The only reason it doesn’t get a top mark throughout is that there was something lacking with the electricity supply."

We have an electric car. When we arrived we were very very low on charge after the journey down (our fault I admit) and needed to put a few miles back into the car battery for safety. Normally you can do this with a trickle feed known as a granny charge by using a three pin plug in the premises. It just puts a few miles into the car to get you to a fast charger elsewhere. We couldn’t do that because there was insufficient power in the house electricity supply and it might have been a disaster on our first day. The electricity is adequate for the utilities in the house but not for the car charging. Not normally a problem, but in these days of increasing electric vehicles I do think that this matter should be pointed out because some people will rely on a few miles of charge in the same way we did! Other than this it is a great premises.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at The Granary. We will of course pass on your comments to the Owner, but this is a first that we have had guests advise the electric supply isn't enough for the house. There was an electrical inspection completed in 2019 which is a five yearly inspection and all was passed successfully. We do not advise guests to use the 3 pin plug to charge the car, we only permit charging with actual charging points that are in place at our holiday homes. If you need locations of charging points, may i suggest you try Zap-Map as this tell you all the local places to charge and if they are fast charging points or not, we use it all the time with our electric car. We hope you still had a lovely stay with us and we would love to welcome you again very soon. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

It is appointed to a very high standard and extremely well equipped. The location is very quiet but extremely convenient for all that the Cotswolds has to offer and the views are beautiful. There is a lovely village pub serving excellent food. We would most certainly stay in this property again.

  • "The cottage was clean and comfortable."

The kitchen was well resourced. It is located in a very quiet village so a car is necessary to get around. Lots of the tourist places, eg Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water etc are quite close by. The Feathered Nest (100 yards from the cottage) is lovely to sit outside and have a drink and enjoy the views. The only thing we were disappointed with was the garden. It stated on the listing it was enclosed, which it is. However, it is not accessible directly from the house. You have to come downstairs from the kitchen into the courtyard and then enter the garden. We had a dog with us so wanted to be able to let him out directly into the garden but we were unable to.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay and time in the Cotswolds. Best wishes, Manor Cottages Property Owner

Disappointing that dishwasher was still inoperative despite notification by earlier occupants. No operational coffee machine was a shame. The village is quite isolated, the local pub is a life saver if you don’t want to drive- but be prepared for serious expenditure and it’s closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Spoke to customer services, at Sykes, who sent out an engineer. The engineer confirmed our fears- that the dishwasher was beyond repair. We all found it bad customer service that Sykes did not call us back to offer any apologises or compensation for the stay, which cost in excess of £700. This cottage was chosen because it had a dishwasher as we had planned to do all our meals there, taking are own food. We also had to do a auto clean on the oven before it would let us use it. We washed all our pots by hand. I just hope the next persons to stay there don’t find the dishwasher still broken.

Great location for getting out and about in the Cotswolds. Beautifully done, and very clean. Kitchen is kitted out with absolutely everything that might be needed. Really comfortable beds, and great to have two separate bathrooms if staying here with others - both shower and bath. Usefully has in built stair gate which no doubt would be helpful for those with kids, and for us as we had our dog with us. Great to have an enclosed space outside for those with dogs like us, and lovely walks straight from the doorstep. Pub down the road looks lovely for a really nice meal (sadly we couldn't try as there was a wedding). Only slight negative thing would be around getting access via the keypads, which I know from other feedback, others have raised difficulty with. May be helpful if instructions could make it clear it is necessary to put your palm or several fingers across the pad to activate the pad, and pointing with one finger doesn't work. And that the pin is just for the bottom door, and does not give access to the upstairs door.

Thank you for providing us with lovely feedback on your stay at The Granary. We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and appreciate your comments regarding the key pads. We have taken note of these and hope to welcome you again in the future. Property Owner

We used Tesco's to deliver a food shop (have to book a slot well in advance as the slots go very quickly). Off street parking is ample and the cottage tastefully and well decorated, the kitchen was well equipped and the bathrooms bountiful. The Feathers Nest pub, 200m away is dog friendly inside a particular bar area and they have saddles for bar stools! We had a sharing platter for £20 and a drink each. A tip was added and it was over £40 for a very small lunch. Went there once for the experience!

It was very clean and well equipped. The master bed was really comfortable and the kitchen lovely with wonderful views to enjoy whilst eating. We did eat at the Feathered Nest and rally enjoyed it. A couple of things that would make it even better, the sofas in the lounge are not very comfortable, particularly the jade one. The shower in the master bedroom has no pressure and was unuseable, I noted that another guest had also mentioned this in an earlier review. There was lots of info on things to do but sadly no books on local walks which would have been really helpful. Lastly the entry time at 6pm was a shock. This is not shown in the property description and only revealed after booking. It really should be highlighted in the property description. We did get in touch with Manor Cottages and they were able to bring the time down to 5pm for us which we appreciated.

Many thanks for your feedback on The Granary. We agree The Feathered Nest is a lovely place to eat. Our maintenance team have looked at the shower and the situation has now been rectified. We appreciate 6pm is late and we will always endeavour to allow entry earlier. Manor Cottages Property Owner

The granary was a really lovely place to stay perfectly located and very well equipped. The beds were comfortable , the kitchen extremely well equipped and the views fantastic, we found the lounge area a relaxing area to sit in the evenings. We enjoyed lots of long walks with the dog, visiting a variety of places including Burford, Bourton on the water, Stow in the Wold and Broadway. The week was made perfect by the weather! Whilst the local pub is well worth a visit to take the spectacular views from the beer garden it is very expensive and probably better suited for special occasions. • "We had a very nice stay at The Granary, in a beautiful peaceful location."

The house was very well furnished with good facilities and a kitchen well provided with cutlery, utensils, china etc., well up to 5* standard. The lighting in the kitchen was ceiling lights which cast ones shadow on the work surfaces, with no alternative lighting to give good vision. The same was true in the en suite with bath, where the sloping ceiling gave restricted headspace when getting in/out of the bath. We had not appreciated that the outside seating area could only be accessed from outside, making al fresco dining slightly awkward. Maybe it was mentioned and we missed it. Recycling and waste disposal instructions were confusing, with 2 separate sets of instructions that were quite different! We decided to use the coloured plastic bags left in the property, but noticed that none of the neighbours did the same. And the previous occupants had ignored any instructions to separate categories of recycling, which the dustmen seemed to accept!! These are not overly serious complaints, but since we had the impression that this was a recent conversion for renting out, the comments might help the owners to make The Granary even better than it already is. They are to be congratulated on a fine conversion of the building.

Many thanks for your feedback - it's greatly appreciated! Your comments will be put to the owner and the housekeeping team will make sure that the waste disposal instructions are up to date and clearly displayed for the next guests. The property

The Granary is a typical Cotswolds property, that is very well suited to either couples or a small family.

Located in the charming village of Nether Westcote, a village ideal for visiting the many honeypot places that this region is well known for - Burford, Stow on the Wold and Bourton on the Water and is positioned in a glorious rural location.

Inside, the barn is an 'upside-down' home with the two bedrooms and two bathrooms on the ground floor, whilst upstairs is the living area with great views across the village plus a modern and stylish kitchen / diner.

That said, you may not do much cooking as the excellent Feathered Nest (pub) is a few hundred yards down the lane and one of the most popular pubs in the area - which enjoys spectacular views from the garden (http://www.thefeatherednestinn.co.uk) For those who like a little bit of exclusive shopping you can pop to Daylesford Organics in Kingham - one of the pre-eminent Cotswolds' destinations!

About the location

BURFORD

Swinbrook 2.4 miles; Little Barrington 3.5 miles; Minster Lovell 5.6 miles.

Burford is possibly one of, if not the most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, it is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford which later grew to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. Located midway between Oxford and Cheltenham, it is a little haven of history and beauty that many come to fall in love with when they visit. The 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. The church is stunning, a real gem architecturally with many interesting memorials charting some of Burford's great families. There is also the signature, on the baptisimal font, of Antony Sedley, one of the Levellers besieged in the church in 1649 - three of the ringleaders were executed by Oliver Cromwell's men in the churchyard. History awaits! With little change over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and tea shops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudeley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all within ten miles.
