  • "We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful holiday home…a real retreat!"

Stylish, comfortable, warm, with an interesting back story (look out for the coffee table architecture book on the shelf of the coffee table). We were visiting family in Witney (new baby granddaughter) but this place would be a fabulous bolt hole to explore deeper into Oxfordshire or days out to Oxford. Witney itself is a lively, well served market town with lots going on. We found the owners friendly and helpful. ❤️ We’d be more than happy to come again.

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed your stay! Property Owner

  • "The most disappointing stay that we’ve ever had."

The Granary is advertised online with beautiful shots of the exterior, but prospective guests should be mindful of the fact that they can only view it from one aspect (not the aspect shown in the advertising photos online) as (understandably) one side of The Granary is inaccessible as it sits behind a gate to the owner’s home (no issue there) but when my fiancé “dared” to stand next to another side of The Granary, he was rudely told that he wasn’t allowed to stand there, by what was presumably a member of the family who own the farmhouse, Granary etc. Such a lot of emphasis is put on the outside space available to guests in the listing details, but the moment that my fiancé was stood there to admire The Granary, he was immediately told he wasn’t allowed (he was not stood behind any gate or sign-posted area that indicated it was for use of the owners only). Another family who were staying in the adjoining Cart Shed whilst we were staying at The Granary told us that they had felt uncomfortable during their entire stay, as they had felt members of family that owned the farmhouse & holiday lets were “keeping an eye on them” whilst they spent time in the allocated outside spaces detailed in the listing. Some things that I would improve if I owned this property: - the shower is basic at best. The water pressure is low and uneven - at check-in there were many areas of The Granary that clearly hadn’t been cleaned or wiped down prior to our arrival - the fixed pane windows are likely a huge selling point for many guests when considering this venue, but guests are greeted to views of untidy bins, broken plant pots, what appear to be empty buckets of materials/products & bikes from the farmhouse out of the fixed pane windows. We had hoped to have and capture beautiful countryside views from these windows, but the surrounding area was untidy as noted above and far from picturesque - guests of this “luxury” guest house are charged for fire wood. A first of anywhere we’ve stayed previously All in all, you couldn’t pay us to stay here again. There are much better holiday lets in the surrounding areas and I would urge anyone considering staying at The Granary to think again.

We are sorry that your stay wasn’t more enjoyable. We do hope that our other reviews speak for themselves regarding cleanliness, our welcoming approach, friendliness and professionalism. We are always happy to look at an issue during the stay and see if it can be remedied for guests if we are made aware of it. We will look into the water pressure promptly as that is news to us. The family in The Cart Shed at the same time have given a score of 100/100 and already rebooked another stay. Property Owner

  • "I was delighted with my stay at the Granary on High Cogges farm."

It was wonderful to have a cool bedroom even though the temperature outside was HOT. The accommodation has a bedroom and bathroom downstairs with the living accommodation and kitchen on the floor above. Everything was very clean and well presented and the EV charger was an added advantage for me. There was ample parking available close to the Granary. There was ample crockery, cutlery, cookware and glasses. The hosts were very helpful and I will definitely be returning.

I’m so pleased you managed to stay cool in the heatwave! We hadn’t anticipated that advantage of the bedroom being on the ground floor for hotter weather. See you again! Property Owner

  • "Nice quiet location."

Witney is a 30 minute walk away and there's a nice pub 20 minutes walk away. The accommodation is unique, very tidy. The WiFi is a bit iffy, and electronic signals in the area generally patchy. But that aside, there are some nice walks locally and it's certainly worth a visit.

  • "Thanks so much for everything."

I have totally fallen in love with your little Slice of the world. Without doubt one of the best places I’ve had the pleasure of staying in. This beautiful conversion has managed to maintain the integrity and rustic charm of the original features and general feel of the space whilst also utilising ultra modern design. The result is a warm and cosy, sleek and bright and joyful place to be. The surrounding countryside offers constantly changing light and colours and the floor to ceiling windows give you the feeling of being in amongst it at the same time as being wrapped in a warm blanket on the sofa. I just cannot sing the praises of this special place enough. Just please don’t take up too many dates as I’d like to keep rather a lot of availability for myself.

What a lovely review. It’s so rewarding to know that The Granary was such a positive home for you during your stay.. To know that effort to plan the conversion carefully has been appreciated makes us very happy. Thank you. We will hope to see you again! Property Owner

Super cosy and styled really well. Such a nice vibe. Loved learning about the history of the building and the surrounding farm and meeting the owners. They were really friendly and welcoming. Such a nice touch with the milk, eggs and chocolate too. The Mason Arms down the road was a treat. Will like to stay again with friends and book the adjoining Cartshed building as that looks beautiful too. Would really recommend. Hope to be back again soon

I arrived exhausted and ready for a proper break, and that’s exactly what I got! With lovely farm shops, pubs and restaurants nearby, you’re able to explore, read, rest and enjoy the scenery. My top recommendation would be The Horseshoes in Witney, a beautiful restaurant with lovely, relaxed service.

  • "We have stayed in many 4/5 star cottages over the years and this was the first one without a dishwasher."

So, no dishwasher, no wardrobes not even any coat hangers. Also there was a constant buzzing from a heat source pump in the bedroom. We don't think it comes up to a 5 rating.

We are very sorry that you did not feel The Granary met the 5 star rating. The property listing does inform you that there is no dishwasher as we appreciate that not having one is not to all tastes. A dishwasher wasn’t fitted as it was not architecturally advised to fit one in a compact listed building like this without compromising the living space. We are also very sorry that you were disturbed by a constant buzzing noise, we would have been very happy to investigate if we had have known. The only previous instance of this being reported to us was when the bathroom extractor fan was left switched on. (We did deliberately site the heat pump 10m away from The Granary, behind another building so it can’t be the culprit). I have confirmed with the last guest that they did not have a noise issue, which is reassuring to us. We must apologise that the set of coat hangers normally in The Granary were missing and had not been replaced; we have rectified this now Property Owner

  • "Excellent accomodation, great base for exploring oxfordshire and the Cotswolds."

Very clean with everything we needed. My only polite suggestion is a rail to hang damp towels after showering - we were hanging them over chairs/tables to dry off.

Hello, I've had a good check over and we have now got some more hooks installed in the bedroom, and the beams have some nails on that could be used for hanging if those are in full use. Hopefully that should be helpful. The underfloor heating usually ensures that things dry out quite quickly. Property Owner

  • "The only slight issue was the advertised fast broadband."

As the TV relied on Internet connection, this did not work effectively and even standard free view channels either could not be watched or were unavailable as the signal was not strong enough. Otherwise, the cottage was lovely, ideal for 2 people and well furnished. The surrounding area is a lovely place to visit.

Hello, I'm sorry that your viewing was hampered! We've made some changes to the connections and things are working well now, we'll keep an eye on it, and guest feedback is a vital way of finding out if it remains tempermental. Thank you for telling us. Property Owner
