Perfect for young families, my little one loved the toy basket and the playground on the village green. The pub food was fantastic and having the coop so close by is very handy. We had a brilliant weekend, highly recommend.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at High Ridge. It sounds like you had a lovely weekend away with your family. I'm glad to hear you found the local park to, we would love to welcome you back again in the future. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

  • "Surprised that the Gas Safety Certificate filed in the property expired in early 2022."

Otherwise a smart property, well equipped. Parking is a significant problem, as was the noisy neighbours party on Sat night commencing at 10pm on Sat evening and finishing at 0330 Sunday morning.

Dear Paul, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that the location was not as expected, the village is usually very quiet and peaceful and we can only apologise for inconvenience caused by a local party. The property has a single parking space at the rear along with on street parking available. We have not been made aware that this is an issue previously but will advise future guests of where to find parking. With regard to your comment re the Gas Safety Certificate. This was reissued at the start of the year we just have not yet been able to add a copy to the guest information file which will do as soon as possible. We do hope the rest of your stay was enjoyable. Property Owner

  • "We had an amazing stay, the house is absolutely wonderful and the kitchen is very well equipped."

Pictures don’t really do the size justice but it’s so roomy. We will 100% go back for another stay. I would say that there could be a better hoover available, we found two under the stairs that had seen better days and didn’t pick up much. The decking is also a bit of a hazard. A jet wash in the summer to remove the slippery layer would work wonders to prepare for the wet Autumn/Winter months. Overall a really lovely time was had at High Ridge.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at High Ridge. We of course would love to welcome you back to stay!. Thank you for your note about the hoover, we will get the HK to look at this and also Maintenance to jet wash the decking, this is something that should be done anyway as with patios. • "Our stay at the High Ridge in Milton Under Wychwood was lovely."

The cottage was ideal, it felt homely as soon as you walked in. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The attic room bedroom/en-suite looked to have recently been refurbished - it was gorgeous! There was a good range of facilities, especially the kitchen. The guest information folder was excellent. The location was perfect, ideally positioned for quick and easy access to all the most popular places to visit. The local amenities (shop, cafe, pub) were also excellent. Sorry to say there were a few minor issues with the cottage housekeeping/maintenance. We put the central heating on one evening and found that the towel radiator in the upstairs bathroom leaked from the valve. We closed the valve as much possible but it still leaked and would fill a small bowl over 24hrs. I see there has been mention of the leaking radiator valve in previous reviews. Also the glass corner shelf in the shower needed attention, it was lose and looked quite precarious/dangerous. The outside double sockets did not work - only wanted to use it to run a cable to charge the electric car to save running the cable through an open window or door. The kitchen cupboard doors under the sink needed attention - both hinges were lose so the doors had dropped and two of the ceiling lights in the kitchen did not work but it wasn’t the bulbs. In the garden one morning there was a strong smell of drains and noticed there was ‘grey’ water under the decking - it dissipated after a day or two. We intended to run the hoover round on our last day but neither of the hoovers seemed to work properly. Most of these issues were reported by email on the 20/9 We had a response but no one came out while we were there. There are relatively minor things we wanted to bring to your attention to. It did not affected our stay at all. Thank you

Thank you for your feedback and comments. We are sorry that you experienced some minor issues. Thank you for bringing them to our attention. Details of these have been passed on to our maintenance team for them to address. We are glad that you liked the cottage and it's facilities and were pleased with the location. We hope you enjoyed your stay. Best wishes Character Cottages. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful place with greatly equipped kitchen and even had toys for the kids to play with."

Great location too. There were some essentials however missing as I'd think we'd get hand soap for the bathrooms and some extra toilet roll. Also the bath tap was dripping so we thought there was a leak in the bath - be good to get that looked at. The Netflix /TV internet wasn't working which was a bummer too. Otherwise a lovely place and would stay again for sure.

We are pleased to hear you had an enjoyable stay at High Ridge and will arrange for our maintenance team to look at the issues you have highlighted. With best wishes Character Cottages Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our stay at High Ridge."

The kitchen was well-equipped and clean. The grass had been cut and the outside enclosed space is great but the outside table could do with replacing. It is a lovely village - quiet but within easy access to many Cotswold Attractions. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you

  • "Positives: 1."

The cottage is in a perfect location to explore the beautiful Cotswolds. 2. It is well decorated, was comfortable and had plenty of room for the 6 of us. 3. Music system was great - we really enjoyed sitting in the kitchen/dining area. Negatives: 1. Cleanliness was an issue. We discovered dirty baking trays in the dishwasher when we arrived, dirty pans in the cupboards and in one bedroom, the carpet in the fitted cupboard was filthy. We even found an old sock from a previous guest! Not great! 2. Some bedrooms don't have full length mirrors, which we found frustrating. 3. The garden could have done with a tidy and the lawn needed mowing. It didn't feel very inviting, particularly after spotting a huge rat by the bins! 4. Finally, we had an issue with the hot water on the second night. Whilst myself and a friend were having separate showers, the water suddenly turned ice cold for both of us mid shower. After a call to Sykes and the maintenance guy then giving us a call, it did eventually get sorted but took about an hour and we had to contact The Hare restaurant to say that we would be late for our reservation. We tried not to let it spoil our evening but we would expect a house catering for a lot of people to have adequate facilities, especially considering the cost we paid per night for the cottage.

Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the cottage location to explore the area. We can confirm that the issues raised in your feedback have been resolved. With best wishes Character Cottages Property Owner

  • "Generally an enjoyable stay."

Lacking a little TLC in areas. Shower on 1st floor could do with thorough clean/replacing. Kitchen cupboards have flaking paint. Generally maintenance and repair would make the property faultless

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at High Ridge. We value all feedback given by our guests and we will pass on your comments to the Housekeeper for review. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

Moving through the property, you will find the beautiful sitting room, with an eye-catching Cotswolds stone feature wall; relax in here of an evening with your loved ones as the woodburning stove crackles away in the background as you watch your favourite show on the Smart TV.

The chef of the group will have no problem finding their way around the contemporary kitchen/diner, that contains all the appliances required to cook up a delicious meal, with a centre stage island sat in the middle with a five-ring induction hob.

The underfloor heating will keep you warm on a cold winter evening as you and your guests dine at the large wooden dining table and toast a glass to the beginning of your holiday.

A staircase in the snug with a sweet rope banister and an attractive exposed Cotswold stone wall leads you up to the first-floor, where you will find three homely bedrooms to lay your head for the night, two of which contain a king-size bed and the other contains a super-king-size bed that is zip/link and can be made up to twin beds on request.

If you fancy a relaxing soak before bed, head to the bathroom where you can indulge amongst the bubbles in the wonderful freestanding bath.

A second set of steep stairs with a rope banister lead up to the second-floor, where you are immediately greeted by a spacious landing area with two armchairs and a Roberts radio.

Here, you will find the spacious master bedroom in the eaves, with a super-king-size bed, which share the floor with a shower room with a walk-in shower.

In the morning, head downstairs to make you and your guests a warming mug of coffee using the Nespresso coffee machine, and head outside through the stunning bi-fold door to listen to the morning bird songs and catch the sunrise.

A decking area with an outdoor table set provides the perfect space for alfresco dining, and there is even a charcoal barbecue for you to make use of later in the afternoon.

A lovely lawn area gives your furry friend a space to stretch their legs in the morning, before you all get ready to head out for the day.

Pick up produce for your barbecue at the local supermarket, before loading it into the fridge/freezer and making your way back out to discover your local surroundings.

Milton-under-Wychwood has a pretty village green and enclosed play park for children and The Hare pub, which was voted one of the top 100 eating spots in the UK by The Sunday Times food critics – be sure to make a visit here during your stay!

Once part of the medieval Wychwood Forest, the area is now predominantly farmland yet the magical Wychwood Wild Garden in neighbouring Shipton-under-Wychwood is a woodland preservation area, left relatively untouched, and is open all year round.

For a fun day out for all, head to Rissington Kart Club, where you can partake in a high-speed race from Cadets to the awesome 250 Gearbox karts; with its fast, wide sweeping bends, billiard smooth surface and big run-off areas makes it one of the best drivers’ circuits in the country.

Nearby village of Bourton-on-the-Water, affectionately known as the “Venice of the Cotswolds”, is a wonderful place to visit and is not to be missed during your stay; there are an array of shops, restaurants, pubs and attractions in Bourton, including the interesting Model Village, showcasing Bourton in model form, as well as the fun Dragonfly Maze, where you can get lost amongst the hedges and race your friends and family to the finish!
