  • "Very good property in an idyllic location overlooking a mill pond."

Excellent parking, WiFi and TV. However there were a few fairly minor issues that detracted from the overall experience: The fridge was small and unstable underneath the kitchen worktop and was awkward to use. The en-suite bathroom in the right-hand bedroom lacked a proper toilet roll holder, and the mirror unit was too low above the wash-hand basin making it difficult for face washing. None of the chairs in the living room were comfortable.

Thank you for your incredibly valued feedback. I can only apologise you found my holder for the rolls in the bathroom not to your liking, along with the 4 dining chairs and L shaped sofa you found to be uncomfortable too. This is a shame and you are the first to highlight such an important point (seating) in 4 years. I shall ask all of my guests going forward and if it’s a common theme, I shall of course change the seating. The undercounted fridge is a 600mm size and there is an American fridge/ freezer in the utility room next door, for all other larger refrigeration items. Again, I’m sorry you found it on the small side. The sink, I agree is rather small and bijoux, but it certainly is functional and again, if comments continue to appear that it’s not suitable, then I will look to replace it. Thank you again for your valued feedback and I can only apologies these issues you found detracted from your over all experience. I’m terribly sorry. Kind regards Natalie Property Owner

The Barn was high end and had everything we needed, particularly loved sitting out on the decking and watching the birds visiting the feeders, even saw the Kingfisher on the pond (more like a lake) it was so relaxing and it was exactly what 2 old friends needed for a get together. Natalie was lovely, introduced herself and recommended a pub for Sunday lunch which was a super choice. Their dogs came & said hello, beautiful dogs and very friendly but don’t feed them as they get too fat

We had a fabulous week at The Barn. The accommodation had everything you could ask for, the beds were comfy and a lovely large shower. But for us it was also the setting, views and wildlife that made the week. A fabulous large deck overlooking the pool meant we could daily watch the heron, ducks, moorhens, dragonflies, birds and otter but on the last day to our delight the deer came to the waters edge to drink! Also great location for visiting local attractions. Thank you Natalie you were a brilliant hostess, it was lovely to meet you and we can't wait to come back x

It’s pleasing to hear you had a super time staying here with us, the entertainment our birds and animals put on, is purely by chance, so you were very lucky to see them all out to play! The majestic deer come each day if you’re up early enough and quiet enough, as you clearly were. We look forward to welcoming you back soon and it was lovely to meet you both too. We were just the 2 of us as next door were also just a couple. So we enjoyed the solitude. Just be aware that the 2 chalets are one wooden building, so noisy neighbours could be a disadvantage as highlighted by other reviews. Natalie was a gracious host and made us very welcome. Google maps and what3words put the chalets in the middle of the field opposite. ///edgy.scorched.porch/// on What3words will take you to the entrance gate.

Slightly less space than we expected from the listing and the relatively high price compared to places we have stayed previously i.e. no family bathroom and living space smaller than it seemed from the photos. We think it should be made clearer from the listing that the cottage is one of two neighbouring properties that share the deck; also that the washing/drying facilities are shared with the neighbours. It could have been called “Birdsong” rather than “The Barn”, as it is the first thing you hear when you wake up and continues in the background all day. We’ve stayed in quality cottages before, and at others the main failing is very limited places to put your clothes. Here both bedrooms were well equipped for storage. The en-suites both had excellent rainfall showers, and the living/dining/kitchen area was well furnished including an Alexa and the TV bracket meant you could comfortably watch it from anywhere in the room. The deck is a wonderful place to unwind.
