  • "First the positives: The property itself is excellent, with great appliances and everything that you need."

Parking is especially good and location in Ballycastle is excellent. The town itself is lovely and a perfect base for exploring Antrim. Small negatives: There were no instructions/guides in the house. We needed to know to turn on the hot water before attempting to have a shower, and there were no instructions for appliances etc. The front door was complicated to open and we needed to enter a long code every time (there was no key). There was no step free access (needed for disabled guests). The bathrooms are too small. The small bedroom is very small and only really suited to 2 children. The welcome hamper would have been better if it included essentials for a first meal (when we arrived the supermarkets were closed). But these are all minor issues. Overall we would have rated the properly 4 stars (not the 5 stars given by Sykes), however there was a huge negative on the time that we stayed. Do not stay in this property over the August bank holiday under any circumstances!!! The Auld Lammas Fair means that ALL of the streets are closed in Ballycastle and this property is exactly in the centre of the fair! We could use our car for 2 whole days as the drive was blocked by traders, so the disruption was far worse that we had been led to believe and rather spoiled our stay. The funfair opposite was very loud until 11pm for 3 nights! We would stay again, but not at the end of August!!!

BALLYCASTLE

Ballycastle is a fantastic destination and touring base while staying in Northern Ireland and was named the best place to live in Northern Ireland in a list compiled by The Sunday Times in 2016. Placed on the Antrim coast, on a clear day you can see Mull of Kintyre of Scotland off in the distance as well as Rathlin Island which you can get a ferry to. From Ballycastle you can travel in either direction along the coast and see stunning scenery.
