  • "The hoilday home was brilliant, everything that was needed was there, could not have had a better hoilday home , the owner was more than helpful, and nothing was a bother to him ,an absolute gentleman, thanks to him he made are hoilday, by being so helpful ."

And we would have no hesitation in returning to his property. Thanks.

  • "Could be so much better."

No towel rails or anywhere to hang them in bathrooms. Only 5 wine glasses and 6 mugs ( the house is for up to 8) Its large with a good garden for kids to play. As everyone else states its not white but grey stone. An information pack about the house, where to go eat etc would be useful as it is 5 miles from shops. it is sparesly furnished i.e a large bedroom with en suite but just a wardrobe - a dressing table and mirror would make it so much better. The lighting needs some lamps and softness. A low watt single bulb in dining and room and lounge. One shower needs the doors sorting out they do not close properly. This property could be excellent but just needs a bit more TLC. For the price we paid and as a regular cottage booker we expected more.

  • "Very good stay, the location was good for activities in Baltimore and the surrounding area but was nice and quiet away from the busyness of the towns."

Plain simple decor and the property was presented with perfect cleanliness. All necessary equipment was in place and functional. Some furniture may need a bit of updating over time but it was perfectly adequate.

  • "Excellent cottage in nice peaceful location."

Friendly and obliging host. Good facilities and moderate internet connection. Would recommend as a great place to stay.

  • "Firstly, the owner could not have been more friendly or accommodating, top marks."

Secondly, I marked low feedback on the accuracy of the listing as you have photoshopped the house to look WHITE and it most certainly is not. If you think that increases the kerb appeal that much then ask the owner to paint it white, otherwise everyone arriving starts off on the wrong foot struggling to find the right house and irked when they do. Also, the garage is 'hidden' behind the house in these photographs and is also rented accommodation, so this is misleading for anyone wanting solitude. As it turns out, for us, the person renting the house was fantastic, and we are now friends. I'm just saying it is better to be up-front with your clients. We loved the house, the location, the neighbour, and the owner so we were lucky, and hope to return.

  • "Had a wonderful family holiday."

The house is so spacious, in a peaceful setting and is equipped with all you need. The owner was great and made for easy arrival and dep. There was Internet for one day but after that you had to pay a subscription of which we could not get access to do this so basically no Internet. Signal is not too good either but none of this a show stopper. Great position for visiting lots of places. Kitchen utensils could do with upgrading as several knife handles broken and most of the crockery/glasses were dirty on arrival but to be honest, appeared a dish washer thing by previous guests maybe. Highly recommend for a beautiful 'get away from it all' holiday. Would definitely return if it wasnt for the the high cost of ferries. Disappointed with Sykes as originally booked a cottage way in advance to have it cancelled with basic explanation of the property closed for maintenance and nothing more. Thankfully, not at short notice but was after committing to ferry crossings so was a huge issue that far from impressed us. Thankfully was able to find Ardagh North but at a higher cost. Would have reservations about using Sykes again.

  • "We had an amazing stay at this house."

The surrounding countryside is truly breath-taking. We stayed the last week in July and it was sunny all but one day-and even that was spectacularly foggy. We are 2 adults, three (just) teenagers, and one 3 year old and despite the patchy Wi-Fi all the kids had an amazing time. We visited Mizen head, the nearby loch has an amazing walk with it, the local beaches are great. We brought a few dvds for evening entertainment and really there was no time to complain about the patchy WI-fi. Everything in the house is self-explanatory and we only met Aiden once when he came to check we'd had a nice stay on our day of departure. The house is massive and the sense of space around it is such a relief from city life. I would absolutely recommend this property as a perfect get-away.

  • "Beautiful property, isolated technically but only 5 minute drive from baltimore and the ferry to sherkin island, loads of room outside for children to play safely."

Wish the weather was better the week we were there but that's what makes our grass so green so can't have it everyway

  • "Good basic holiday house in a lovely location."

Two things not mentioned in its profile.. The house is not white, but unpainted, so a grey/brown! There is someone living on the premises..in the converted garage : just 3 metres from the house.. So the privacy of the house is certainly compromised.

  • "The house has a lovely position with beautiful distant views across to the sea."

We had amazing weather and some spectacular sunsets. It’s a short drive down the hill to Lough Hyne. We brought Kayaks and snorkels and even managed to see the phosphorescence by waving a kids fishing net in the water after dark. The stars are amazing on a clear night. A day trip to Sherkin island is a must especially if the weather is good. This house is furnished simply but very well equiped with washer and dryer, dishwasher, sky tv box. Very clean. So peaceful at night. Really nice neighbour!

Internet and signal was shocking so our teenager had some issues. House had all requirements and was clean no complaints. We would highly recommend this house to family's plenty of room for everyone.

Peaceful, private yet just minutes from the village with everything you'd need. Exceptionally well equipped, child and pet friendly too so the whole family holidayed together. The host was fabulous, a fine ambassador of West Cork. Delighted, wish we were staying for longer. Segrave-Daly Family, July 2019

It’s in the middle of fields so is very quiet and peaceful . The kitchen is well stocked with utensils . The website photo is not accurate because it’s never been painted white which is odd but Aiden the owner is a great bloke and we would certainly stop again. Lovely walking area .

About the location

BALTIMORE, COUNTY CORK

Skibbereen 6 miles.

The harbour town of Baltimore is located in Western County Cork, 6 miles from Skibbereen. This is a popular venue for water sports including sailing, windsurfing and scuba diving, the latter due largely to the number and variety of shipwrecks in the bay as Baltimore was once attacked by Algerian Pirates; reminders of the incident still remain in the form of local pub names. Why not take in a spot of whale watching, booking one of the whale watching trips, operating from the pier or take the ferry across to Cape Clear, a Gaeltacht (Irish speaking) island. You may even see dolphins at no extra cost! Take a stroll around the recently restored O'Driscoll Castle or head up towards the Baltimore Beacon - also known as Lot's Wife - one of the most notable landmarks in the area. Whether facing the wild Atlantic, or exploring the inlets and creeks of Reengaroga, Cape Clear, Sherkin and Carbery's Hundred Isles, Baltimore is a location not to be missed! It has a wonderful selection of pubs , restaurants and cafes, as does the market town of Skibbereen which is also within easy reach. A visit to the Skibbereen Heritage Centre is recommended for historians as it houses the Famine Exhibition and Lough Hyne visitors Centre.
