  • "Nice quiet stay with plenty of room for my family of 4 adults."

Close to Rosscarbery (pubs & groceries), so that was a big plus. Nice garden. Wifi was slow, but it existed, which was not the case with one of our other stays. Would have loved to stay longer.

thank you only basic WiFi im afraid have tried to get better but no joy Property Owner

  • "I understand that the property is 'pet friendly'."

However, the stench of dog was overwhelming as soon as we opened the door. My first task was to open all the windows, then spray bleach the table, cooker and all work surfaces in order to remove grease stains. I washed all the crockery and cutlery we needed in very hot water and detergent, for the same reason. On a positive note, the rooms were all very spacious and the second living room was a 'godsend'. Our party did struggle a little with 6 people, including children, using just the one bathroom. There was plenty of bedding and towels, all clean, and a washer/tumble drier which was really useful during wet weather. The location of the property is convenient for Clonakilty, Skibbereen, and Rosscarbery, as well as other inland and coastal destinations, but I would certainly think twice before booking in the future.

  • "A lovely old world farmhouse close to Roscarbery, situated on a quiet cul de sac."

The place is wel kept and offers plenty of space for 6 people. Maybe only one bathroom for such a big place is a bit scarce. I loved it that guests are allowed to bring their dog. The kitchen is well equipped with household appliances

The cottage was a great size with plenty of room although there was only 4 of us so good for us . Nice location but you do need a car. Overall I would recommend the cottage . The weather was kind to us so that also was a bonus

  • "We enjoyed staying in this area but we would not recommend this property, particularly for a family with small children."

The property was dirty, we had to clean the whole kitchen and all the floors, which were covered in dust and dog hair. Pet owners are advised by the owner to clean up dog hair but there is no hoover provided. There was also dog poo on the lawn that had not been cleaned up before we arrived. There are cracks in the sinks, the side of the bath and other items reflective of fairly poor maintenance. The kitchen did not have everything we needed, and quite a few items were not usable (rusty pan, burnt spatula, broken corkscrew). There was also an ant problem in the entranceway/conservatory. The owner sprayed the room and covered it in ant powder, but this room was essentially unusable. The internet and TV was good for the kids, there was a variety of programmes to keep them entertained. The lawned area was a nice space to play, but is not closed to the road, so a slight issue with small kids. They also sprayed the property perimeter with weedkiller one evening which made us less keen for the kids to play out. This is also a working farm, so one night there was haybaling behind the property until 11pm

  • "The photo on the website does not reflect the current state if the property which I will describe as tired."

More importantly, it does not show the derelict outhouse/barn?? adjacent to the property which, whilst an eyesore, more importantly needs to be managed. The corrugated roof gas collapsed in large sections, but some panels remain and are very loose. During windy conditions, these flapped around and constantly banged. This disturbed us during the evening and nights, but also concerned us about possible damage should they break and get caught by the wind. The kitchen had plenty of crockery and cutlery, but would benefit from a refresh of the cooking equipment, pots and pans. Sofas were comfortable, but tired (well used). Beds were comfortable. In looking for an electric socket by the bedside to charge our phones at night, the extension lead which was actually a surface mounted double socket lying on the floor under the bed was completely shattered, exposing the internal wiring. This had the bedside lights connected, but clearly unsafe for clients to use. The downstairs loo had no lights, so could not be used when dark. Whilst we were met by the owner on arrival and given a tour of the property, there was no house book that we could find for instructions. Overall, a disappointing stay.

  • "We had a lovely stay here during the Christmas break."

Accomadation was ready for us to check in at the agreed time, the elegant Christmas tree and decorations were a nice touch in the cottage and made our stay feel extra special. All the essentials are there (Kitchen utensils, towels, wifi and much more) Location is perfect as its 10-15 min max from numerous walks, shops and other villages which was great for our dog who also enjoyed her stay also. Would definitely recommend and stay again! Thanks Angela

  • "Overall the house was okay but cleanliness issues badly stained mattress which is disgusting, shop hangers to hang clothes on, dust surrounding wooden furniture, dirty marks on glass and mirrors, downstairs toilet cracked washbasin and no light, blocked bath and leak , bad for someone with bad mobility to have to get in and out of bath no shower , and no proper bathroom window."

I actually would like to know if any from Skye’s cottage actually checks these properties out or just take the owners word . The big issue was the wifi which is nowadays a necessity especially if you are still contacting people throughout your stay for work this was a reason we picked this house. Unfortunately when we arrived soon after realised there was none, spoke to owner who seemed very agitated that we brought it up and had the cheek to say that if she was to charge anything less than 1700 we paid for two weeks without wifi she would be a charity case which was very rude. During our stay thankfully we enjoyed our days out to different places and met lovely people from village. However the owner had someone come out on two different days to see if she could get wifi and he told us that the only way to get wifi at tho area so feel she deliberately put false information on site to fool people. After this the owners family who were working in the area seemed to be hovering around even to watching us having a barbecue felt strange, big eyesore is the barn which is half demolished, not the greatest of places I’ve stayed.

To whom it may Concern wifi issues with this house have been resolved and basic wifi is now available it is,a holiday home and not a place to work from home all other smaller issues resolved now also shower is in the bath like alot of hotels thanks to all my m Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our three days in Rosscarbery, the location was good as it's only a few minutes from the village by car."

Very disappointed that there was no wifi at the property as listed. The house is also listed as semi detached but is in fact detached and stands in its own grounds which we much preferred.

To whom it may concern we have WiFi installed in the house now. Property Owner

  • "Really happy with all aspects of the let."

Plenty of room both down stairs and up. Separate TV room a real bonus for families with children. Garden space outside was again great for families. Well equipped house. Very quiet yet very easy access to the main road. Well placed between two major towns of Clonakilty and Skibbereen. Choices of beaches and rambling paths within approx 2 miles a bonus. For those needing gluten free food this is a well placed let with Fields of Skibbereen being a good source for shopping.

Thanks so much regards Angela Property Owner
