  • "We had a lovely stay at the cottage and enjoyed the tranquility."

Everything we needed for a comfortable stay, including cooking facilities (couldnt get the oven grill to work), a lovely stove for chilly evenings, WiFi and comfy beds. Location was great, just a short 5 minute drive from Carrick town. From there we explored Slieve League, Bunglass viewpoint, Fintra beach, Glencomcille etc. The property is down a very steep and stony lane with many potholes. We had brought 2 cars as we had 2 dogs and 2 teenagers so shared the load. However on one day when we were all in the one car, the boys had to get out of the car as we feared we'd damaged rhe underside on the bumps. Also it would be a fair walk into Carrick along a narrow road with no footpath, so a car was really needed for every trip.

Dear Pauline, Thanks so much for your feedback and really glad you liked the cottage and the surroundings! We are really enjoying hearing from our guests and getting some valued insights. We have noted your experience , and are actively looking into improving the lane in the near future. We will also check our the grill on the cooker. The walk into Carrick takes about 20 minutes, and is a quiet road so we have always found it fine for walking, Im going to leave some vis vests just so people feel a bit more secure. Thanks and hope to see you again at Kits Cottage! Best wishes Natasha Property Owner

  • "Myself and my wife stayed in kit's cottage last week for 3 nights."

Felt at home as soon as we walked in the door. The location is lovely, with mixed woods all around and a great view over the estuary from the garden bench. It's a great base for exploring the south of Donegal. It's also in a great location for hill walking. We did some of the Drum loop walk on the Friday after the rain stopped. Then on Saturday we did the sliabh Leigh loop walk, up over the one man pass and back along the fantastic new rejuvenated pathway. Stopped off for a cold Guinness in the rusty mackerel before completing the loop. Overall we had a great stay and intend returning. The only problem we had was that there was no companion set to clean out the log burner. Also a coffee pot, percolator or similar would be of benefit to any cofficinados staying. We had our own with us, so no bother with fresh coffee. Thanks for the loan of the lovely cottage for a few very enjoyable days. Peadar MacMillan - baile atha cliath - Dublin

Hi Peadar, thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed your stay and that you braved the One Mans Pass as well. Companian set for fire there now and a coffee machine on the way as suggested. Hope you make it back again to tackle some of the other mountains in the area. Sliabh Tuaidh between Port and Maghera is a good one. Cronarard on way to Killybegs either, fantastic ridge walk with amazing views and some wreckage of a WW2 Lancaster Bomber plane crash up there too. Paddy Property Owner

  • "Kits Cottage is in a lovely location with beautiful scenery."

If you want peace and quiet and amazing views, this is the perfect place. All you hear is bird song, and see the sheep, horses and occasionally a fox strolls by. You can see the sea from the bedroom (fight for the left hand side of the bed!!) and our favourite spot is the seat in the garden. Just perfect, even in October. We enjoyed sitting here with a glass of wine and a book after our days out. A little table would be nice! This appears to be a new holiday cottage, certainly for Sykes but maybe to the holiday rental market. It has been recently decorated and has new curtains, bed linen, shower curtain etc. The lounge furniture is very comfortable. The heating and hot water are very efficient, but it would have been nice if at least the water was switched on for arrival. There are still some areas for improvement, but it is great value for money, especially for a family. We really appreciated having a washing machine, and the views from the washing line are the best ever! There are lots of good quality coat hangers, enough toilet rolls, washing up liquid, tea towels etc. Internet was fine, but our phones only worked in the garden. For bird lovers, this cottage is ideal, as not only do you have birds in the garden, but you can see the estuary, too. We saw Dunnock, Great tit, Wren, Curlew, Rook, Jackdaw, Robin, Carrion crow, Hooded Crow, Jays and Pied wagtails. Our Merlin App identified Siskin, short eared owl and Redwing. Maybe put bird feeders in the lower garden visible from the cottage – we would have happily bought nuts etc! Kitchen equipment may need reviewing. Larger sharp knives, better saucepans with lids. Table legs need tightening, it’s a bit wobbly at the moment. Maybe consider a guest book for feedback, and more tourist information. We would definitely return, and we would recommend. The cottage is comfortable and cosy, but its main selling point is the location and the views. We had an amazing week visiting beautiful places, but coming home to peace and beautiful views was the highlight.

Dear Elizabeth, Thank you so much for your lovely review! We are delighted that you had such a good time and enjoyed the peace and quiet down at Kits cottage! We love your ideas for improvement, we are ordering a bird table as we speak. Maybe Santas robin will pay a visit before Christmas.... I saw that fox myself when we were up in the summer! And a little table is a great idea up at the bench. We will also review the kitchen equipment and sort the table. Also we will include more tourist information, as locals we have many walks and areas we would love to send our guests to. Thanks again for all your suggestions and we hope to see you again soon at Kits Cottage! Best wishes Natasha Property Owner
