  • "We had a great week and enjoyed everything."

The house is warm and comfortable, and the location peaceful and attractive. We were made to feel very welcome - including the dogs! Lovely to be so close to the beach and a great base for exploring the area. The local shop at Portnoo has everything you could need, and the beach cafe is perfect.

This made the stay easy and pleasant. Horses and cows in fields which we loved. We had our dog with us and he settled well. It was quiet and relaxing and easy to drive to beautiful beaches. We would recommend it and hope to return again.

Very clean well equipped house with all you need. Lovely, friendly and helpful landlords, John and Michelle. Very central to beach , lovey village of Adara, and motorway to get to other places like Glenveagh Forest park and castle. Slieve league cliffs, Donegal town. Thank you very much and hope to be back again in the future. Sharon and James.

  • "Wonderful stay in the country at Mary Kate's Cottage."

Lovely, traditional cozy cottage in County Donegal. Very private with all the amenities. Excellent location to visit the local town Narin and its wonderful beach, Donegal's coast and Donegal town. Cottage was well sized for the two of us and our two large dogs but sitting and eating areas might be tight for six adults. The traditional finishes made Mary Kate's Cottage even more special (but if your tall, watch your head!!).

  • "Beautiful cottage, in a peaceful and stunning location."

Great place to get away from it all. Surrounded by nature. Lovely horses in the fields adjacent. No interruptions, just silence and bird song. Short drive to a number of stunning beaches. Well stocked shop in Portnoo village a five minute drive and more choices of shops in the larger town of Ardara, approximately 10 min drive, all easily accessible by car. Host very welcoming- greeted in person and provided property tour. Lots of towels and bedding provided. Such a beautiful old Irish cottage. It’s wonderful to see a piece of old built heritage retain and updated to provide comfortable holiday accommodation.

  • "This is a lovely, secluded cottage with everything you need for a comfortable stay."

As others have said, the photos really don't do this place justice, it's lovely. The blue flag beach at Narin is very close by and is absolutely stunning. White powdery sand and crystal clear water, you could be in the tropics, only the wind and the temperature remind you you're not! The nearby town Ardara, has all the amenities you need, make sure you visit Nancy's for food, it's a brilliant place. Our puppy had the best time here, it was safe for him to roam about outside by himself, making friends (barking at) the lovely horses that come by to say hello. The weather wasn't the best whilst we stayed, but we could come back to the cosy cottage, put the fire on and relax every evening. We'd highly recommend a stay here, we only wished we'd booked for longer.

We stayed for one week and loved every minute. The location is fantastic and very close to the beach. The kids loved it and were delighted to meet the horses. House was warm and cosy and considering we had the two biggest storms of the year to contend with this was very welcome. The owner and host was very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this property and look forward to returning again in the future with the family. Thanks for everything

The cottage itself is traditional farm cottage that has been sensitively renovated to a high standard providing an authentic experience and a good level of comfort. Within walking distance of superb Narin strand, shop and restaurants, and a short drive to larger centres of Ardara and Glenties. Would definitely book Mary Kate’s cottage again.

It is quiet and peaceful and a perfect place to stay. When we arrived we found the fire had been laid and there was wood, peat, starting sticks and firelighters for a couple of days. The cottage was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Mary Kate's cottage was originally a farmhouse and the stone farm buildings are still there (one houses the washing machine and tumble dryer). It is not far from Narin and the beach there is stunning - it has a blue flag award. Portnoo is just along from Narin and has a great shop. It is a great place to stay while exploring Donegal. We spent an amazing two weeks here and would love to return.
