"A beautiful place and surrounded by scenic views and stunning sights."
Spotlessly clean and so comfortable that we were only too happy to stay indoors on rainy days as well. I would call it a 5 star holiday home. The family and our dog absolutely loved it.
-
"A wonderful house in a truly stunning location."
Loved every moment in spite of terrible weather at first (but even then wild, remote, beautiful). And then four evenings sitting outside in sunshine just loving the sight and sound of the ocean. An absolutely superb week. Thank you.
-
"A beautiful and well constructed quality property, ideal for a holiday let providing you don't mind being isolated and enjoy sheep as your neighbours."
The views are stunning and if you enjoy walking the location is great. The quality of the furnishings is good and it is well equipped. However, for this quality of holiday let I would have expected a higher standard of appliances, although I appreciate tenants often fail to look after them properly. The cooker clearly needs attention as I struggled to get it to function. Glassware needs addressing as does kitchenware if property let to capacity. If you are looking for a quiet and restful holiday or seeking inspiration for writing, painting or photography this property should be on your list. I was without both power and water for a complete day with no warning or notice, which is unacceptable considering the rental charged and the deserted location.
Dear Desmond Thanks for your review and comments, we will look into glassware and kitchen ware etc, we are committed to trying to have house facilities to the highest standards On power and water , we have not been given any notice that it would have been switched off temporarily by the power networks , we will contact them to notify us of any further power switch of in the future Kind regards Bernard Property Owner

"The holiday home was lovely."
..Even better than the photos! Myself and my family had a wonderful week. The views are amazing and the property had everything that we needed for our stay. We would definitely book again and would recommend anyone else to do the same.
-
"This property was absolutely beautiful and the views where outstanding we stayed here for a week and touched lucky for fairly good weather the only thing I would say if you liked to bake or you are into your cooking like my sister the property could do with some utensils weighiing scales etc and extra cutlery for when the dishes are in the dish but overall 5 * hope to go in the future."
-
"Wonderful house, really clean and lovely location."
The dryer was not working properly but that was the only issue. Otherwise super and would book again if going to Donegal.
-
"Lovely place to spend the week comfortable clean and modern, only thing I would mention is if it's a cool evening and need to increase heating was not easy to operate the thermostat could do with a sheet with instructions in the folder, other than that great spot and will be back again soon."
-
"Beautiful house in a stunning location, this is our second time staying here and will most definitely be back."
-
"The property itself was wonderful and probably even better than described."
Be aware that the internet is really slow (as might be expected at the edge of the world), but everything else was great. Communication with Sykes was frustrating, and we didn't even get answers to our question until after we had left. On Day 1 we had inquired about what we needed to do upon leaving. On Day 4 we received a response that we would receive an email before leaving explaining what we would need to do. We left 2 days before our rental ended (this was already planned by us since we had to rent for 2 full weeks). We were back in the US before received a response to our original question. This wasn't a good process for us. Fortunately, we used our heads and did what we thought was right to do upon leaving a rental.

"The property is fantastic!"
We had an amazing week here with family and the dogs. The house has everything you need. Beds are very comfortable. Nearest town is only 15 mins drive. Beautiful beaches and walks nearby. We just couldn't fault the place. We'll definitely be back!!

"We were very happy to stay at Crohy Head House and would love to come back."
The house is very modern and luxeriously furnished, has a lot of space and a fantastic view. Crohy is a very quiet and somewhat secluded area. If you are used to Irish back roads, the approach is no surprise (6.5 km narrow back road and at the end 2.5 km very narrow single lane road). The house is new and therefore there are a few household items which are not yet present. Also, the visitor's guide might be a bit more informative. Communication with Sykes was quite easy.

"Good beds, pretty furniture, nice view, very good laundry facilities."
In total it was a pleasant stay. BUT: It was not very clean when we arrived - hairs in the drawers , dirty dishes and glasses, handprints everywhere, dirty windows. Some window frames are stuck ,so we preferred not to open the window in the bahroom and in one bedroom. No dishwasher tabs available. Kitchen equipment sparse. We had expected a bit more amenity in the house with regard to the price. Access road long and bad.

"Beautiful house in a beautiful location Would highly recommend"
-
"Very good eco property built to a high specification."
Lovely views. Plenty to see of lovely Donegal from this location. Everything worked well. Good directions as it would otherwise be difficult to find. Thanks for the wine. We had a great week!

"We had a fabulous stay in the house at Grohy Head."
A very comfortable house with all you could wish for.
-
"Excellent holiday home in a superb location."
House was lovely and clean and very well equipped. The house itself is finished to a very high standard and is extremely well maintained. This is a holiday home that the owners are proud of and it shows in the way it is presented. We stayed with our daughter & her husband & 3 very small children and had a wonderful time here. Even though no baby equipment is provided (which we knew in advance) it is an ideal home for families with small children as it is very safe being a single storey property. I can only recommend it highly.

"House Crohy Head is actually a five star property."
It was our second visit after a lovely winter break here. The house is beautiful and the views are stunning. The reason for the one star is the electric gate does not work and as we had several sheep in the garden every morning, whose poo is poisonous to dogs, the property is now NOT pet friendly. While we were very careful with our beloved pooch when he was out on the grass, we think as we were packing up for home , he ingested some of the sheep poo as we had a very poorly dog the following day. He is still under veterinary care but thankfully is well improved. I really don’t like leaving a negative review but it is only to warn pet owners - if you don’t have a dog you’ll have a super holiday here.

"Great house / cottage."
stayed twice. Comfortable, clean and warm. Self entry was perfect. Given the understandable want that guests treat the property with respect it would be helpful to reciprocate by provision of basics e.g. washing up liquid / pan scourer / bin bags etc.

"The property and location are stunning."
The view from the front drive-way is unbelievable. Just sat on the patio looking out into the bay and the various weather patterns forming and the sound of the sea is amazing. Its a tricky drive up from Maghery on a single track road to find the property, but easily mastered after driven once to the property. Highly recommend exploring around Crohy Head (Tower and the Rocks) and the circular walk around the Head (turning left from the property) and back up through Maghery is excellent. Trip to Aranmore Island was brillant and the Lobster Pot, gastro pub mentioned in the property notes in Burtonport, close to the Ferry serves excellent food. Shopped a few times in the Supervalue Supermarket in Dunglow which was very good. The property is very modern, eco controlled via a heat pump and underfloor heating. It was very clean and well equiped. It worth a trip down to the local Community Centre on a Friday night for Fish and Chips and a drink in the Strand pub. Enjoyed our time at Crohy Head and highly recommend the property.

"Beautiful modern bungalow with stunning panoramic view Comfortable beds and sofas and well equipped kitchen (if 6 guests stayed, we would definitely need more crockery)."
It was a lovely holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The standard of the cottage was very good and it was spacious full of light. The dog also loved the cottage and the garden and was fascinated by the wandering little lawnmower. However, their were a couple of little niggles for a 5 star rated cottage which I will mention as honest feedback. I would normally expect a welcome pack, with some milk, local eggs etc, with a welcome letter on the table. This is always a nice touch, and very gratefully received when you can't immediately get to a local shop. The kitchen was well equipped with lots of glasses, cups, teapot etc but many were not within easy reach for my wife and there was no stepping stool. Also, there were a few light bulbs which needed replaced and I know that most housekeepers would check this at changeover. Finally, it would have been nice to have the electric gate working to prevent visiting sheep 'fertilising' the lawn and driveway. However, none of these things would stop us returning or giving a good recommendation.

"Fantastic cottage."
Could not have asked for any other items.....perfect.
-
"This was the best house we've stayed in."
It had everything we needed, with the extra bonus of being able to take our dog. It's a great location to get away from it all, with lovely country walks and a short drive to the beach. Can't wait to go back!
-
"This was our second stay at Crohy head and once again it was amazing."
Stunning house, stunning location and stunning views. We will definitely go back again. Thank you Bernard and Teresa
-
"This has got to be the best holiday home we have stayed in."
Absolutely beautiful house and everything has been thought off- down to liquid soap in all the bathrooms- saves a lot of hassle. The owners were easily contactable about a few easily resolved queries. Providing fuel for the stove was also a much appreciated no charge extra- not that the stove was needed much as the house is so lovely and warm. Thanks so much to the owners for everything

"We didn’t have running water for much of the weekend due to an issue with the water service in the area."
The owner did his best, but ultimately we kept being told it should be sorted “today” and it wasn’t, so we were without running water or the ability to have hot showers for most of our 3 night stay, which was VERY disappointing considering the cost of the stay. I expected to be offered some sort of compensation even as a gesture of goodwill, but was told that wouldn’t be happening, which was disappointing.
-
"This was our 4th stay at House Crohy Head and are already looking forward to staying again."
The elevation gives for wonderful views and the house itself has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Close to Maghery with lovely beaches and the Strand bar where the staff and locals make you feel very welcome, nice to be able to bring dog inside after walk on beach.
-
"I have never stayed at a more lovely, well kept and clean holiday home in my life."
It is situated at a breathtaking location and the interior of the house is just fabulous. This, in my opinion, is a five star holiday home. There is no other one like it on offer. Will be back for sure. Thank you to the owner who looks after it so well.
-
"We had a wonderful week in a very warm and comfortable, modern property."
Location is fantastic with views over Gweebarra Bay towards Portnoo. Maybe a telescope or binoculars would have been useful to explore the headland etc.
-
"This house is in a stunning location with wonderful sea views."
Local beaches within a 10 minute drive. The owners have taken great care to provide all necessary comforts for an enjoyable stay including outdoor furniture to allow one to sit outside to relax and enjoy the breath-taking scenery.
-
"The cottage was perfect for us very comfortable allowed us to enjoy the views no matter what the weather, it’s in a rural location, very quiet, great walks amazing beaches and our dogs loved them all nearest one is 4k away where there’s an information centre with cafe and pub across the road."
Good for cycling so my husband tells me also supermarket and restaurants approximately 9k. Met Teresa the property owner who made us very welcome.
-
"We had a fantastic stay at Crohy Head and couldn’t have asked for any more."
The property is immaculate and the views over the Atlantic are stunning. We had to contact the owners because my daughter pressed the Stop button on the automatic lawnmower and Bernard could not have been more understanding - he came by to reset this and was very friendly.
-
"What a stunning house in a stunning location, I would highly recommend staying here."
House has every facility you need and is in great location for touring Donegal. We will be back.
-
"Beautiful house, clean cosy and very comfortable."
We loved watching the ever changing seascapes from the front windows. Enjoyed exploring wonderful Donegal, fantastic beaches not far from house, we especially loved Narin. Thank you for a fantastic stay.
Hi Fiona Delighted you enjoyed your stay at Crohy head thanks for your positive feedback kind regards Bernard and Teresa Property Owner

"Amazing property, amazing location!"
Met the owner, Bernard, and he was a gentleman, couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful. Will certainly return.
-
"A beautiful house with stunning sea views."
A few minor issues: No garden furniture available (although the guest book stated that it was) which was a disappointment as we had enjoyed sitting out on our previous visit. The kitchen is very well - equipped but a mixing bowl and a whisk would be very useful. Also, the house Wi-Fi was not working during this visit.
Hi Helena Im sorry about the garden furniture , weather has been very stormy , so decided to leave garden furniture in the garage , hope this this not impact to much on your stay Property Owner

"A beautiful house in a beautiful location."

Great break. A log basket would be good. Beautiful place.
-
"This was our second stay at House Crohy Head and we have already booked for next year."
Views are amazing in a tranquil setting and the house is perfect with everything required. Can't wait to get back.
-
"What a fantastic week was had by all at Crohy Head House."
The house was amazing but the best part was, the view - nothing to beat it!!! The house was everything we were looking for and more. Thanks to Bernard & Teresa for the use of their home. We’ll defo be back

"The Road to the house is "irish"."
For people from a city not easy to handle, but this is the only "negative" aspect of our time at this wonderful place. Don't listen to your GPS. Navigate to Dungloe via N56 and use the Falmore Upper Rd from the North to reach the house. The Falmore Upper Road from the south-east take a lot more time and not very useful if you have a bigger car than a VW Golf. Also the GPS calculates 80km/h for the road. This is impossible.
-
"Fabulous house so very comfortable and clean, with the most amazing views and total silence, we had such a fantastic peaceful 2 weeks and will most definitely return again soon."
-
"We had a wonderful hope holiday at the Crohy Head house."
-
"House was amazing views were amazing."
Lots of Space for 4 adults 2 children and 2 infants. Very comfortable and clean had everything you needed a real home from home experience. We didn’t want to leave and are already planning on going back next year
-
"Lovely house in out of the way scenic location, quiet, very clean, with great coastal views."
-
"Super house."
Very comfortable. Spotlessly clean. Fantastic views.
-
"House was situated in a picture perfect location only 6 mile from Dungloe."
The house had everything needed and was plenty warm to sit and enjoy the brilliant ocean views on a cold winters day.
-
"Beautiful house in stunning location."
We were able to switch off completely and enjoyed walks and hiking in the area. Was the loveliest and cleanest holiday home we have ever stayed in. Bonus was as well that we could bring our dog along. Thanks to the owners for keeping it in such wonderful condition. From an artistic perspective the area was amazing. The wild beauty of Donegal reverberated in every detail. Would go back there any time again.
-
"Excellent house, very comfortable well built house finished to an excellent standard."
Very good beds, couches etc and the bathrooms and showers are brilliant. Sky tv, Netflix etc. The views from the front and the back of the house are second to none, ever changing skyline and miles and miles of Atlantic Ocean. Local beach is lovely had a cafe, hires bikes and kayaks and has a football pitch and playground. Dungloe is a short drive and has many decent pubs, a good hotel with excellent views from the bar and restaurant and loads of places to eat. Also has a Lidl, Aldi and SuperValu. Owners leave you be but are on hand if you need them. Can’t recommend this part of Donegal Or this house highly enough

"This house is beautiful and the views are stunning."

"This is a superb place."
Fully equipped with all you require. The heating system was a great bonus as we stayed in December over Christmas and it was included in the rental cost. The views were fantastic throughout the property. Couldn't recommend highly enough if your looking for comfort, style and location.
-
"Excellent accommodation, well equipped with all you would need."
The views are stunning and with the weather being so good we were able to sit outside with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down. We stay in Dungloe every year so know the area well, it has 4supermarkets to chose from so buy your shopping when you get there, it all helps the local economy. The people are always friendly and helpful if you need to ask for directions. The new river walkways is lovely and is flat for wheelchair users, also a little park for children. There are fantastic beaches, we recommend Portnoo and the airport beach. A great day out for all age ranges is Glenveagh national park, just make sure and take cash their card machine doesn't always work. Just go and enjoy, we will be back again soon.
-
"Beautiful cottage very well presented and equipped with everything you needed."
The views are stunning especially the fantastic sunsets. Will definitely be returning.
-
"The house and views were amazing definitely a place to sit back and relax."
Location, at the top of the Head, is accessed by a single track bumpy road but has plenty of passing places. Dungloe is about a 10 minute drive away and has plenty of choice for shopping and eating out.
-
"The view from this house is spectacular, the photos really do not do it justice."
We loved the fact we could bring the dog - thank you Theresa and Bernard - it is so hard funding somewhere to stay where we can bring the family pet. The house is very comfortable, you can tell it is newly built. We found it no problem, but that was doing a google street view beforehand and with a bit of detective work. locating the area where the house was built as street view has not been updated since 2011. The house is in a remote spot, but definitely worth it. The website is slightly misleading to say it is the town of Dungloe (which is a 15 min drive away) it is outside a small village called Maghery. There are no shops and one bar. The "cafe" unfortunately closed for the summer while we were there (last week in August) so we did not get a chance to try it. We went to Arranmore Island, Narin Beach, Portnoo and Glenveagh National Park. All worth a visit, though would definitely recommend Glenveagh on a dry day! My only minor quibble with the house would be the lack of kitchen accessories for cooking - no grater, kitchen scissors, oven gloves, however I'm sure Bernard and Theresa will remedy that. Dungloe has an Aldi and Lidl and another supermarket on the main street/corner of Cope St which had a lovely bakery. House would benefit from a BBQ! Looking forward to booking next year, however we see it is already fully booked July 2020 - very disappointed.
-
"The property was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
We did have a little difficulty finding the location on arrival, and would possibly recommend a more detailed description of distances and what to expect to see on the road (We thought we were lost a few times given the remote location)
-
"Beautiful house and setting!"
loved every minute. So much so we have rebooked again for next year. Would benefit from a washing line and working hoover.
-
