"We thought the property was delightful."
It had plenty of space for us two, with a beautiful view of Lough Meela. It was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The instructions about how to get there and also how to use everything were very clear and easy to follow. We would thoroughly recommend it.
Delighted that you enjoyed your stay and thanks for the lovely comments. Hopefully you will visit again in Donegal. Property Owner

"A beautiful modern house."
A great relaxing space to chill out.The house was very clean, warm, comfortable and everything we needed was there. We loved sitting at the fire, looking out over the lake. A very tranquil environment. I highly recommend a stay at Lough Meela Lodge.

"The cottage was ice cold when we arrived although we were warned."
It took a whole day to warm it up. Absolutely freezing. The property had not been cleaned properly since the last guests. The toilet had been used and was filthy, the fridge/freezer still had old food inside. Both the fridge and freezer had black mould growing inside and around it. Because the radiators must need bled as they make a lot of noise constantly when they’re on. To the point it keeps you awake. Wi-Fi is quite slow and doesn’t really work at all in the bathroom. The sheets are far too big for the duvet, everything all hanging loose which makes it a little uncomfortable to sleep. The floors, and the area rugs are filthy and marked. Washing machine doesn’t work correctly, the settings on the machine doesn’t kick in. Clothes were being washed for hours before we noticed and you have to manually click the washing machine to rinse and spin etc. luckily enough we didn’t have delicates being washed at the time or they could have been ruined. Also the kitchen is in a bad way, handles missing from the front of cupboards, some are duck taped , there’s panels that’s cracked and hanging loose. All in all this was a negative experience. Mostly because we already came from 1 cottage in the south of Ireland in dingle the “Finn house” and that set the standard we were expecting as everything was perfect, clean, well maintained and was actually cheaper then this stay. We felt compelled to clean as soon as we got there and you don’t do these breaks to spend hours cleaning just so you feel comfortable again. You expect a high level of cleanliness, a warm environment, and definitely a well maintained environment. We would not stay here again for sure.
Hi guests, I have to say that we were deeply disappointed to hear that you were unhappy with your stay at our home. To start with your last comment ‘ you expect a high level of cleanliness, a warm environment, and definitely a well maintained environment.’ we couldn't agree more!. We have taken some time before responding to check with the professional cleaners, get their feedback and run through the checklist of your points. You were our first guests of the new season coinciding with the coldest period of sub zero weather conditions before your arrival. We had hoped that the neighbours dropping down stove fuel and the heat on in advance of your arrival would have helped, but we can see from your comments that it did not, so we are sorry that it was not more comfortable for you. The property had been professionally cleaned including kitchen and toilets so we are surprised at some of the comments, however it would appear that tradesmen employed to do last minute fixes in the house we assume must not have cleaned up properly after they left, for that we apologise. We have checked the washing machine and it seems to be working properly, but in the future we will ensure that there are very clear instructions to guests on the use of the washing machine. As for wifi, yes due to the location of the house the signal is weak in parts of the house which is unavoidable and this is now clear to guests arriving at Lough Meela Lodge. We have been welcoming guests at Lough Meela Lodge for the last number of years and we always aim to deliver a great experience, and we are gutted when we don't meet expectations. Thanks for taking the time to bring this to our attention and we will make every effort to ensure that the house is welcoming for our guests, doubling our efforts to continue to raise our standards. Lough Meela Lodge. Property Owner
