The property

This immaculate, detached cottage in the small seaside resort of Portsalon, County Donegal, rests in a slightly elevated position, with delightful views of the Ballymastocker Bay, and comes with a hot tub to ensure a luxury break.

The accommodation sits entirely across the ground floor, with a stylish kitchen for all your culinary needs, three tranquil and comfortable bedrooms and a large sitting room with dining area.

The sitting room in this Portsalon holiday home is the heart of the cottage, where you can curl up with a good book and a glass of wine, sit by the window with your feet up enjoying the sea views, or share a delicious meal with your loved ones.

On warm afternoons and evenings you can open the French doors to the patio area, which has a large dining area for alfresco gatherings, along with a hot tub, which will be adored all year long!

The coastal village of Portsalon sees visitors from all over the world and is home to one of the best golf courses in the land, not to mention one of Ireland’s most spectacular Blue Flag beaches.

Portsalon lies on the banks of Lough Swilly at Ballymastocker Bay and is a wonderful base for touring the stunning Fanad Peninsula.

There is a local shop, off licence and café located fifteen minutes’ walk from your Portsalon cottage, plus a small shop, restaurant, as well as a friendly pub, perched along the side of the pier, which offers the perfect spot to enjoy a refreshing drink in the sunshine can be found in just a five minute stroll.

A little further afield and you can visit the Glenveagh National Park to soak up the remote and rugged wilderness by car, foot or bike.

Europe’s highest sea cliffs at Slieve League and the walled city of Derry are also worth a visit during your Donegal holiday, so book this Portsalon cottage today for a superb break in the stunning Emerald Isle.

PORTSALON, COUNTY DONEGAL

Resting on the western bank of Lough Swilly is the tiny seaside resort of Portsalon, home to one of Ireland’s top golf courses. Portsalon makes for a wonderful base for exploring the Fanad Peninsula, and boasts a picturesque harbour at Ballymastocker Bay, where you will find one of the most spectacular beaches in Ireland. Visitors can try many outdoor pursuits in this region, including golf, surfing, fishing, diving and kayaking, or if you prefer to explore in comfort and style, then the Knockalla Coastal Road encompasses excellent seascapes and lake scenery. The historic town of Rathmullan, south of Portsalon, provides a lovely afternoon out, where you can take a tour of the Kinnegar Brewery and hopefully sample some of the local produce! With something for everyone, Portsalon is a wonderful location for discovering County Donegal and the North West.
