  • "The house is ok."

nice views. Plenty to do closeby. Ann provided us a babychair very friendly of her! When we arrived the house was packed with flies. Killed 25 of them..after this we had none gladly. The living room is quite small. We stayed with two adults and two small children. Kitchen is big. Some things can be improved easily to make it more user friendly. Like sharper knives for example to cut veggies, adjustement / fixation of the shower head. Mattress in adults bedroom needs to be replaced. the heating is on timer behind a locked door you can't open this yourself when you get cold. We think that's really strange! The fresh eggs Pat gave us from the hens on the farm were delicious.

Hi Merel, Sorry to hear you weren't completely happy with the cottage. Unfortunately we are in the middle of the country, on a farm and so flies are inevitable. I did adjust the heating to accommodate you and the family which you were very happy about. Also the stove was there for your convenience, which you refused to light. We even offered free fuel for the fire. Thankyou for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "Unfortunately for other accommodations, we now have a very hard standard of cottage bar to reach."

We could not have been happier with our stay!!! The cottage is beautiful inside and out. Anne and Pat have also fitted it out with every creature comfort needed and more! It was an absolute delight to stay in and be so extremely comfortable that we honestly did not want to leave! On arrival the house was already warm from the gorgeous heat and generous timed settings. The beds were warm from the electric blankets being on. The kitchen is stocked with all the basic food items such as sauces and S and P. The open fire has been generously set and ready to light with a massive supply of wood on hand, as well as small pieces, fire starters, peat and matches that lasted the week! The furniture and quirky Knick knacks generate a warm cosy farmhouse feel. The plentiful supply of fresh large farm eggs was so kind, thank you. The view was amazing as was watching the sunset and sunrise from either the back or front windows and doors. The cottage is convenient to a number of towns for shopping and supplies as well as all the attractions of county Donegal. A lovely stay perfect for all types such as couples, families, and solo travellers. We miss this place so much! Thank you Anne and Pat, we will always treasure our time here!!

Hi Linda, Just so delighted that you were so happy in the cottage. We truly appreciate all your kind words and positivity. Anne and Pat Property Owner

  • "Anne and Pat , although your cottage was quaint and the views lovely , we felt it lacked in the comfort area ."

The couch and chairs weren’t great , i put the cushions on , and then it was fine . We found the locked heating door a bit insulting , to be honest , I know the oil was timed on and off which again left us with no options either to turn it off or on . As you know we lit the stove as we were cold on Easter Sunday and my daughter and children were visiting , when my husband rang you , he was told the oil could only be on at the setting time . Unfortunately the stove hasn’t been fitted properly and started to bang and guggle in the locked press , we were a little worried it could blow up , as that happened to a neighbour of ours a few years ago . Anyway Pat did come in , when he was checking his sheep etc and told us to run the hot water until it stopped . We didn’t lit it again until Wednesday but only for a short time as my daughter and grandkids were there again . The beds were ok , we used both as I found the bed too small to share with my husband , he tosses and turns all night , so both bedrooms were used . The mattresses on both beds could do with an upgrade , but other than that , the cottage was lovely , like a step back in time , and we had everything we could need in the cottage . The eggs were amazing , thank you. I hope you can take out findings as they are intended with the greatest respect . Bronagh and Pat

And it certainly didn't disappoint. Lovely and cosy after a day out and plenty big enough for us four adults. The fresh eggs were a delicious bonus, thank you. Should we ever visit your part of Ireland again we'll be booking with you. Thank you for a cosy, very comfortable week.

  • "What a wonderful cottage, clean, warm and cosy, with excellent views."

Anne & Pat are lovely hosts that have thought of everything needed in a holiday cottage right down to an electric blanket heating the beds, and a box of fresh laid eggs on arrival. The best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in and we have been going to Ireland for about 30years. Well done Anne and Pat show the other cottage owners how it should be done.

  • "Lovely rural property, scenic location."

Pat and Anne were welcoming and helpful throughout. It was a great place to take it easy for a week and to venture out for half day outings - Fanad Head, Glenveagh Castle and NP, Dunfernaghly etc - and is a shortish drive to Letterkenny. Pat instantly replaced the fridge when it malfunctioned and welcomed us with farm fresh eggs. There is just one narrow windy road to follow to go sightseeing. This didn't bother us but be aware of this.

  • "Just back from a week at this cottage."

Its in the most beautiful setting with great views. Mountains and sheep from the kitchen window and sea views in the distance at the front. Its quite rural and up a bumpy dirt track so you need a car and to drive carefully. The cottage itself is very warm and cosey with comfey beds and a log burner. Theres a big well equipped kitchen and we were left a lot of logs to burn and a dozen fresh hens eggs, a lovely touch. If your looking for a relaxing peaceful stay near the wild atlantic way and not far from lots of places to explore, Letterkenny, Rathmullen, Ramelton, Buncranna, beaches, A little drive to Glenveigh national park and castle, and An Grainan of Aileach and lots more. Its great value for money, off the beaten track and stunning views. We loved it :)

Nice, quiet out-of-the way location but still easy to get to. Some nice walks roundabout, and Rathmullan, Ramelton are only a few minutes away as is the coast road around the Fanad peninsula and elsewhere. Friendly, helpful hosts - Anne called the day before to ensure we could easily find them, and Pat dropped in for a chat and to make sure we were OK (and leave some very tasty eggs). We loved it.

About the location

RATHMULLAN, COUNTY DONEGAL

Letterkenny 15 miles.

Nestled on the shore of Lough Swilly on the Fanad Peninsula, the quaint village of Rathmullan has a colourful history. It was from here that the last of the Celtic chieftains fled Ireland, now known as the Flight of the Earls, and there is an interesting heritage centre in the village commemorating this vital event in Ireland’s history. This sleepy seaside village offers a variety of local shops and pubs and a long sandy beach ideal for lazy days. The Fanad Peninsula is a haven for walkers, hikers and nature enthusiasts, and boasts a stunning coastline. The summer ferry crosses Lough Swilly to Buncrana, opening up Inishowen and beyond, and it’s only a short distance to the town of Letterkenny.
