  • "It was a good base for our holiday with so many places nearby."

The beds were really comfortable and everything was clean. To improve our stay I would recommended more crockery. Also a second shower would have been really helpful.

Hello Lesley, I am so pleased your Holiday in Galway was a hit and staying at Castle View was enjoyable. My children love playing ball games in the big garden too. I really appreciate your comments and I agree a second shower would be very welcome. We hope to see you again. Property Owner

  • "Castle View was ideally situated for touring the area and seeing the beautiful countryside of Connemara."

The house was beautifully clean and well supplied with everything you would need to make your stay comfortable. Michelle was very helpful with advice when we needed it and provided lots of leaflets and travel guides that made planning our days out very easy. We had a super week and wouldn't hesitate to return in the future. Our only disappointment was that there was no wifi available.

Many thanks for your feedback, I am so pleased you had a wonderful stay at Castle View and was able to experience the stunning scenery in Co Galway.Regarding your point on WiFi, I am trying to keep costs down to make the accommodation quality but affordable for most hopefully. There are many places nearby that you would be able to pick up the signal when visiting. We would love to see you again. Property Owner

Only issue with shower being affected if water used in other parts of property.

Hello Brian, Many thanks for your feedback and for choosing Castle View I am so pleased you had a wonderful stay. I have looked into this issue with plumbing before and it is quiet common with the older properties in the area. A small price to pay for the surrounding beauty. We hope to see you again. • "The cottage is lovely."

Very quiet but in a good location near to the town and had everything we needed. The only problem was finding it when we first arrived. After we discovered you could reach the main road by going past the castle we found this much better and think it would be easier for guests to find if they were directed that way.

Many thanks for your lovely comments, we are so pleased you had a great stay at Castle View and we really appreciate your feedback. Property Owner

  • "Really loved our stay at Castle view."

A clean and comfortable spacious house with a warm welcoming feeling. The location of the house is perfect for sightseeing the west of Ireland. In close proximity to the house to the right is the shore of lough corrib and to the left approx 2 miles away is Aughnanure castle and the oughterard golf club. The quiet roads make it safe to explore these nearby sights on bikes. Just 3 MILES from Castle view is the village of Oughterard. Here you will find lovely places to eat and lovely walks up at the back of the playground and also at the back of the church to a fabulous waterfall walk. Out the Glann road from the village you can drive to a spectacular view of the Hill of Doon it doesnt disappoint. A short drive out of the village heading for Clifden are the Glengowla mines something for the young and old. Just a little further up that road, sign posted Leam, is the stone bridge made famous by the movie the quietman. Dogs bay beach is absolutely fabulous ans is about 50 mins from castleview or 20 mins outside Clifden. kylemore Abbey nestled in the Diamond hill, can be seen on route as you drive through to Maum cross and onto Leenaun, it's definitely worth a visit. Killary harbour on the border of Galway and Mayo offers water sports if it's adventure your looking for. The killary adventure centre is within 1hrs drive of castle view. The breathtaking views of Connemara have to be seen to be believed, the route from oughterard to Clifden and Leenaun. The other direction towards Galway city in a little place called Moycullen about 7 miles from the house, you can try out some horse riding on Connemara ponies/horses. A really enjoyable experience. And if its retail therapy your after Galway city is only 25 min drive from Castle view. So within an hr of either direction of the house there is a funtastic time to be had. It is the perfect location for the perfect staycation. Ann lives next door and is a very welcolming neighbour who offers good advice and information.

About the location

OUGHTERARD, COUNTY GALWAY

Galway 17 miles.

The traditional village of Oughterard is found in the west of Ireland on the shores of Lough Corrib, at the start of the Connemara Mountain range and close to the famous Western Way. Home to the Oughterard 18-hole championship golf course, Derroura Mountain Bike Trail and Aughnanure Castle, there are lots of things to see and do, and located next to Lough Corrib, Oughterard is great for lovers of fishing. Just a short drive away in Roscahil is the pretty Brigit's Garden; with four main gardens and places to play, sit and relax, this is a great day out for all the family. Only 17 miles from Oughterard lies Galway City, where you can discover some of Ireland's long and varied history; visit Lynch's Castle, or trace the origin of the famous Claddagh Ring, which originated in a village near the shore of Galway Bay. A lovely lough-side village, all year round.
