  • "An amazing cottage in an extremely beautiful location."

Everything provided for in the cottage that you would need for a stay to make it like a home from home. Property Owners very helpful with any queries and it is obvious they have been doing this for some time and have majority of things catered for your stay. Highly recommend this place and will be my first place to look next time I come to visit County kerry!

Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to go back for another relaxing break, we love Waterville.

The layout is easy to move around in, well maintained and decorated. All manner of helpful aids were provided to enable a wide range of cooking styles. All crockery, bedlinen, soft furnishings were clean and undamaged. The owners were available by phone if needed and were charming and informative when we met in person. Waterville is a popular stopping place on the Ring of Kerry and benefits from tourism throughout the year. Musical entertainment was available and enjoyable at a number of venues locally - just ask.

  • "This is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed in Ireland."

The views of the Lough fill the entire front of the home including a lovely sunroom. It is quiet, private and the home is spotless. John met us and showed us how everything worked. Mary had left us a tea tray with fresh scones, Irish butter, milk, and tea makings. The village is lovely and we had our 59th wedding anniversary dinner at The Lobster Pub. There are fantastic walks and Skellig Michael is nearby. Thank you John and Mary for your kindness and this lovely part of Ireland

John and Mary are fabulous hosts and made us feel so welcome, from the lite fire on arrival to the lovely scones ,jam and chocolates . The standard and presentation of cottages was 1st class as always. The views of Lough Curran and mountains cannot be beaten with a short walk to Waterville and the sea .there is so much too see and do on the ring of Kerry, to draw us back time after time . Thank you once again .

  • "Thanks for providing a great bungalow cottage with fabulous views."

Everything was provided for, I had taken a few utensils and extras like cling film etc. but no need, everything was straight forward to use and the decor was very well thought out and tasteful. Albeit the shower washing machine and ironing board could do with an upgrade but all worked fine and having a separate freezer was a big plus as many places we’ve stayed in just have a small part of a fridge The cottage was spotless and beds comfortable, the kitchen was well sized and conservatory comfortable with good seating and opening on to the lovely view and table an chairs where we sat and looked up at the sky at night (recommended) The cat snowy turned up and we enjoyed feeding her but hadn’t read about her till leaving as we hadn’t turned the page with the instructions on lol All in all a great week was had and pictures alone couldn’t do it justice

The fire was roaring and she was very welcoming . Mary saw that our mothers mobility is very poor and her and John went out of their way to make her stay even more comfortable. The property was extremely clean and inviting and it had absolutely everything you would need on a 2 week holiday. The views are stunning actually breathe taking! ( even though we had poor weather our first week). Our hosts were so hospitable they even visited us on our final evening for a chat. They are two beautiful people and find nothing is too much trouble.

  • "Brilliant location."

Comfortable and well-equipped house. Lots to explore in the area. One or two niggles. Directions to the property were dreadful, and lacking in every detail. No little book of instructions about the house, and where to find things etc. Payment for electricity and oil at the end of the stay added an extra 50 euros to the cost, and we would have been far happier to pay an all-inclusive amount rather than having to find the extra at the end. Domestic refuse had to be put into separate bags and taken to the Community Centre. Normal black bags were not accepted. You had to pay 5 euros for a special one. Why was there not even one of these provided in the rent ? Finally, there was nothing to alert us to quite how long the journey was from the port. OK we could have worked it out... but the distances involved were very considerable, and just a hint about that would have been helpful.

When speaking to the holidaymaker a few days before arrival to Ireland I emphasized to him the length of the journey to our cottage from the port, this is something I make sure to do for all clients as it's a long journey and then can be expected. Also, I give clear instructions as to the local directions to the property once reaching the village and also to ring us if any confusion. Also, it is very clear in booking conditions of Hogans website that oil and electricity is extra to rental and is metered, Thank you. Property Owner

The view from all the front rooms was amazing and I will miss it. Waking up to a view of the lake & Kerry mountains is truly relaxing. The cottage itself was so well equipped with all our needs covered. The master bedroom could do with a king size bed but that's being picky. The owners were very helpful and had a little welcome pack all ready for us when we arrived. The sitting room is very comfortable and great for relaxing in front of an open fire after a long day of visiting all the local beauty that this area has to offer. I will definitely be returning to this beautiful cottage.

  • "This is a lovely home set up on high with lovely views over the lake."

The house is clean, spacious and comfortable. The owners were extremely helpful and Mary, in particular, was very kind and empathetic to my wife who suffers from MND and found the first days travel to Waterville from the UK extremely arduous, as we arrived in the area in pitch black rainy weather, we could not locate the house in the dark and they came and led us up to it. Three observations though, I am not sure that charging for fuel at such a high rate is fair to visitors in the non-high season, personally, I would prefer this to be part of the upfront price as visitors in high season would normally attract better weather and would not require as much heating and lighting. !30 Euros for two weeks was a bit of a shock, considering that we used it on the timer. Point two is that the TV is only terrestrial program channels, which are fine for Irish visitors but for many others, I suspect like us not what you would expect in this day and age. A version of Freeview would have been nice. We had to rely on watching old DVD films which were provided. Finally, it would be nice if there were a few food trays to use for meals, having to eat at the table is not always convenient. That said, it was a thoroughly enjoyable and comfortable stay at the house and would heartily recommend it to prospective holidaymakers. Kerry is beautiful and Waterville, in particular, is a great base for exploring the many sites. Great food at reasonable prices in most places, in particular, we like the 'Village Kitchen' in Sneem. Also, a pint or two of Guinness at the Butler arms hotel is a must each day :-) Charlie Chaplin stayed here on his many holiday visits to Waterville.

When we arrived The fire lighting, the flowers and the waiting scones and jam were all lovely extra touches that made the cottage feel like a home from home. As the weather was cold and wet the first few days John dropped up some turf for the fire which was much appreciated. The location was beautiful and wild all at the same time. No hesitation in recommending this cottage and it's owners to anyone. We have holidayed in kerry many many times but can say this cottage was the best we have stayed in. We will definitely hope to visit there again. Ten out of ten.
