  • "We had a lovely week in Watch House Cottage."

The property is beautiful and in a great location. The beds were so comfortable and the pillows were the nicest I have ever slept on. Totally pet friendly and the garden is perfect especially for a small dog as its totally enclosed. Our little dog loved it. Just wished we had booked for two weeks instead of one.

  • "This cottage is in a great location, great views of the harbour and mountains, close to the local shop and even closer to the pub."

Its very comfortably furnished, nicely decorated and presented, quiet and well equipped. It’s a great place to explore the south of the Ring of Kerry and the Skerrig Ring. There are plenty of good walks and drives in the area and the cottage was always great to come back to. Bed was comfortable and towels good quality. Highly recommended Note that the cottage no longer has pink doors and windows which made us unsure on arrival.

  • "Great stay, cottage immaculately clean and plenty of space for 4 adults."

Lovely area. Only minor issue was that shower screen upstairs doesn't fit bath, so water goes all over the floor.

  • "The location was fabulous as we were out kayaking most days so we could just carry the boats the very short distance to the water."

House was very comfortable but a bit short on cooking utensils that according to the itemised list should have been there. The back garden was very disappointing as it could be really nice with a bit of TLC.

  • "A quiet, comfortable and clean house."

Well appointed. Comfortable bed. Great views of the harbour and the hills on the mainland. Easy reach of the ferry. Final touches of fruit in the bowl, packet of biscuits on the table and milk in the fridge on arrival was a great bonus.

  • "One review said it was very small - nonsense."

It's a very pleasant and quite spacious two bedroom fisherman's cottage. I was delighted with a Loo on each floor and the walk in Wet Room as well as a separate bathroom. The views are amazing and is an Artist and Photographer paradise. Everything you need is provided to keep tidy and clean. We are a disabled bunch and it well suited our needs. I would have liked a rail fixed to the wall of the stairs to help getting up and down. That is the only quibble I can comment on. Well done !.

  • "The pictures of the property show that it's well cared for but in reality it feels like it's changed owner and the new person is not keeping the property up to scratch."

We arrived and had to search for the towels and the following morning there was no hot water until we found the switch. The downstairs bathroom which is a wet room smelt continually of damp and the door had to be kept shut. The Dishwasher didn't clean the dishes until we removed blockages from the washing arm. My bedroom side light had no bulb in it. There was 1 small sharp knife, broken at the end and 3 large knives! Other examples of neglect, 3 dishwasher tablets, no washing powder, no salt etc. I could go on and the reason this cottage lets is because of it's location. I won't be using Sykes again.

  • "Loved the location."

The cottage was exactly as described. Sandra was a pleasure to deal with. Only thing that would perhaps put me off booking again is the 6pm check in time and 9am check out which are ridiculous, ensuring the guest loses a day effectively. Latest check in time should be 3pm, earliest check out 11am.

  • "Perfect cottage to enjoy a VERY quiet, relaxed holiday."

Very cosy, very well equipped and provides wonderful views of the sunrise. Only minor negative lounge seating not the most comfortable but in such a lovely spot you would not be in that much to worry about it!. Restaurant either end of cottage row and ferry 100 yds. Perfect for enjoying the west end of Kerry.

  • "The reason I have put that we would not be booking this property again is nothing to do with the cottage but it was a very long journey and we have been."

We found that a number of businessses had closed for the season, so there was very little locally. We found the ferry to be very good and made journeys so much shorter. Unfortunately we had dreadful weather so the holiday wasn't as enjoyable as we had hoped (not the fault of Sykes). I am sure we will be booking with you again as we have a dog and you have plenty of dog friendly properties.

Knightstown is the main village on Valentia Island, which lies off the coast of the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry. It is accessible from the mainland by ferry from Reenard Point, or via the road bridge at Portmagee. Knightstown provides restaurants and Irish pubs as well as entertainment and local shops. It is also the departure point for a variety of sightseeing boat trips and fishing trips. Take a trip to the magnificent Skellig Islands, the site of a 6th century monastic settlement, and home to a large colony of gannets and puffins. With around 650 residents Valentia Island stands out as one of the westernmost inhabited locations in Europe, and was the site of the first permanent communications link between Europe and the United States. The Island is famed for its magnificent 'Fogher' sea cliffs, which rise majestically from the Atlantic Ocean on the northern side of the Island, and the subtropical gardens at Glanleam House, which are a unique delight for visitors of all ages.
