"The location is wonderful, you also get free ticket entrance to the Cliffs, right beside the house."
Be mindful that you must pay for electricity when you check out, and only heating is available with electricity. You can light a stove in the sitting room but heat would not reach the rest of the house. Damp smell in rooms and rotten radiators etc. Oven has never been cleaned. Marie is nice.

"We had a great break at Patty's cottage."
Marie our host was kind and put us at ease with information on what this part of the world had to offer us. Marie us free tickets to visit the Kerry cliffs and checked the weather and booked Skellig Michael. Informed us of places to visit and restaurants to eat in. Patty's cottage is home away from home with nature scenery as a bonus. We were refreshed and revitalised after this wonderful weeks rest. As Arnold Schwarzenegger said in the movie "We'll be back". "We had a fabulous holiday at Patty's in Portmagee."
Marie the landlady is a superb landlady and gave us free passes to see the magnificent Kerry Cliffs nearby. We loved the fact that she is a dog lover as we had brought our 2 beloved doggies with us. The house was so comfortable and homely, it had everything in it necessary for a great holiday. Marie also recommended the seafood platter in the Fisherman's bar .We took her advice and had it on one evening. She was so right, it was sensational!. Marie also recommended the Moorings bar for a meal out so we had breakfast there one morning and again it was fabulous. Portmagee is a beautiful village and ideal for anyone who likes walking. We had fabulous walks on Valentia Island nearby and on the roads close to Patty's. We also visited Kells Bay and Gardens about 35 minutes from the house which is well worth visiting with beautiful gardens and a rope bridge to walk across. We will return again to Portmagee and will be booking into Patty's for definite!. Thanks Marie for your beautiful house and warm welcome to ourselves and our pets!. Cheers.Anne.
Thank you very much, Delighted ye had a great holiday. Marie

"We stayed at Patty's Cottage for three weeks over the Christmas and New Year period."
The cottage was very comfortable and well appointed. Our two dogs loved settling in with us by the multi-fuel stove in the cosy sitting room. The views from the cottage are outstanding, and there are many lovely walks. The host, Marie, could not be more accommodating. She even put up Christmas decorations and gave us a free pass to enjoy the stunning Kerry Cliffs. Both Marie and her husband were so helpful and were on hand for anything we might need. We highly recommend this lovely cottage, and we hope to return some day.
Thank you Marie.

"This little cottage was a great base for exploring and is located well for Portmagee, Valentia Island, Ballinskelligs, Finians Bay, Skelligs boat trips and Caherciveen."
Portmagee is a beautiful tiny village with 2 fab pubs that serve amazing food and the little cafe which does a brilliant breakfast.
Cahersiveen now has an Aldi which is a game changer.
Marie is lovely and always on hand with nothing being too much trouble.
I would say the 3 star rating is fair and to be mindful of this when booking. This is a well loved and spotlessly clean house but the decor and furnishings may not be to everyone’s taste and it could benefit from some updating.
That being said, we were comfortable and had a lovely week and I would recommend to someone looking for a budget friendly base.

However it was unfortunate that Sykes had only insurance for UK customers, which did not include us living in Ireland. In Covid times it would be nice to be offered Irish insurance. I would therefore rather book with Airbnb or Booking.com who provide for this.

Onsite owner is like a fairy godmother with everything and anything offered or sorted almost without needing to be asked. Comfortable and homey atmosphere, despite the howling wind and rain outside the house in January weather.
Views of surrounding fields and up towards the famous landmark Skelligs, are exciting yet peaceful at the same time.
Travelling as i am with animals, i had many and diverse issues to deal with, but i didn't have to deal with them alone, as owner Marie had the answers/help i needed every time.
