  • "Howley’s is a cosy, traditional cottage with fabulous views, well away from busy roads."

In fact, the only passing traffic during our stay was a farmer on his tractor, once, all week. Crossmolina is only a 10 minute drive away with 2 small supermarkets and a petrol station. We spent most evenings in the kitchen/diner with electric fire, TV with most freeview channels, and full kitchen. The small fridge with small freezer compartment is supplemented by a full size fried/freezer which is really useful but is unfortunately sited in the hallway which makes nighttime visits to the bathroom a little tricky. We only used the main bedroom with the 4 foot 6 inch bed which was fairly comfortable but seemed a little small when used to a queen size bed. Bathroom air temperature was a little cold because it’s in an exposed position at the back of the house and we were trying to be economic with heating. There is a wall mounted fan heater for use when showering though. Condensation in the bathroom was a minor problem but didn’t affect our stay. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced quiet traditional cottage then Howleys may fit the bill.

  • "Everything was very comfortable especially the beds."

The whole family enjoyed our time at this special peaceful cottage with it's lovely view. We look forward to our next visit sometime in the future. Mary thought of everything in the cottage and was on hand if we needed anything.

  • "Would recommend providing the driver doesn't mind little lanes getting to property."

Scenery makes up for it though.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Howley cottage."

It was very clean and comfortable and Mary, the owner, was most accommodating, meeting us in Crossmolina to guide us there. The cottage was so warm we had to turn off the heating a few times! Since it was pet friendly, we brought our 11 year old dog & she adapted very well. The views of Nephin mountain each morning were spectacular & we were blessed with good weather which was a bonus. Thank you, Mary, for making our stay so enjoyable.

  • "There's nothing that we feel we need to make you aware of."

The cottage was perfect for us, the added bonus was that we were allowed bring our dog. All the comforts of home, dishwasher, washing machine, micro wave, very efficient heating system, plenty of hot water. The cottage was lovely and clean and in a prime location for visiting the surrounding areas of North Mayo. Mary the host was very nice and approachable too.

  • "The location is perfect for those wanting peace and quiet, or even seclusion, yet it is easy to drive to other locations or for supply shopping."

The host is extremely kind and helpful. The view of Nephin is ever-changing in the light and weather. Comfy and nicely presented interior. Plenty of spectacular sights, walking etc in close proximity.
