  • "We spent a pleasant week at Annie’s Cottage, where everyone was comfortable and had plenty of room."

The kitchen was well supplied with equipment, and the house had a traditional cottage feel, with a thatched room and a very pretty garden. It was rural enough for peace and quiet but close enough for local amenities. About 30 mins drive from Westport and 10 mins from Castlebar. Tuffys pub across the road was great for a Guinness. Our hosts were very kind and welcoming leaving us eggs and wood for the fire which we lit at night.

  • "Annie's is a beautiful little cottage in a perfect location."

Plenty of sheep and cows to keep you company. Mai and Jim are the best hosts you could wish for. We would love to stay again sometime soon.

  • "This is such a lovely spot."

It is perfect for traveling the west coast of Ireland. We wandered up and down the coast and came home every day to gorgeous surroundings and beautiful sunsets that we watched from the upper garden. We loved the beautiful old thatched roofed main house and the convenience of two full kitchens. The house is nestled among sheep and cow pastures across from the remains of an old Irish tower. It couldn’t have been more picturesque. Mai and Jim were so kind, welcoming and helpful during our stay. We highly recommend them as hosts. My only regret is that I never took a bubble bath in the amazing claw footed tub that was located in one of the three full bathrooms.

  • "We spent a lovely week in Annie's Cottage."

The cottage and garden are well equipped, well maintained and spacious for four for of us - especially as the 'children ' are a teen and a young adult. The cottage is a great base for exploring County Mayo, which is beautiful, and for dipping into neighbouring Counties. It gives access to countryside, lakes, hills and coast. Finally but not least, if anyone deserves the title of 'super hosts', it is Mai and James.

Sally thank you so much. It was lovely to have you all and hope some day we will welcome you back once more. Thank you all. James/Mai Property Owner

  • "I booked this property for my parents (in their 70's), they had the most super trip to this cottage and absolutely loved their stay."

Everything was just what they needed - the walk in shower, ground level accommodation and easy access was just perfect. This property is absolutely ideal for a larger group/family as well. The hosts are so very welcoming and we really appreciated all the help and for being so attentive. It was home from home type accommodation. I really could not recommend this property highly enough. The welcome and attention to detail is superb. This is also a super area for exploring Mayo, there are many day trips in easy distance, there are numerous drives around the coastline and Wild Atlantic Way and you will not be disappointed with the scenery and splendid views around Mayo. There are some super spots for dining and entertainment in the nearby towns, whilst also being able to come back to a lovely homely nest in the evening with complete peace and tranquility. This is one of the best houses to book in the area and I challenge anyone to find anything but perfection here at Annie's Cottage. Please book without hesitation. You will not be disappointed!

  • "Annie's Cottage is a gem of a thatched cottage to stay in!"

We recently spent two weeks in this beautiful cottage. It is ideally situated in the centre of Country Mayo, making trips to Achill Island, Mayo's north and west coasts and trips to Galway City in the next county easy to reach. It is spacious, very nicely decorated and spotlessly clean and even though we stayed in August, we had the odd chilly day but we were warm and comfortable with the underfloor heating, radiators and log burning fire. There were plenty of fresh linen and towels available and after our first week we were brought more in case they were needed. Annie's Cottage has two kitchens and both are stocked with ample pots, pans, cutlery and crockery, with plenty of storage for any shopping should you do a lot of eating in, as we do and there are two fridges, one with a large freezer. The cottage has a large, beautiful garden with table, chairs and a bbq and it was lovely sitting out in the evening catching the last of the sun with a glass of wine. The owners, Jim and Mai, are a lovely couple and live close by. They were the perfect hosts and had a welcome gift for us when we arrived and provided us with fresh eggs from their farm during our stay. We can honestly say that Annie's Cottage is the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in and will definitely book the cottage again when we next holiday in the beautiful and scenic Country Mayo. • "Wonderful cottage close to Castlebar, Wesport and Galway."

Mai & Jim were wonderful hosts. They had left us fresh farm eggs milk tea & coffee.. everything to see us through our first evening there. We even had firewood for the stove for our entire stay! The cottage is huge spotlessly clean and couldn't fault anything about it. If you are looking for a base for Galway Wesport & Castlebar - this is it. We would highly recommend.

  • "Annie's Cottage was so wonderful."

It has authentic charm coupled with all the modern comforts. Jim and Mai were wonderful hosts and the location was very easy for getting around many areas of west Ireland. We would go back in a minute. We particularly loved that we could look out our dutch/half door right across the road to a green field filled with sheep and a very picturesque ruin of an ancient tower keep.

  • "Mai and Jim are exceptional hosts."

Annies Cottage is outstanding in the cottage itself and its amenities inside. There was nothing that we were short on during out stay. Mai and Jim were very welcoming on our arrival and informative with things do in and around Castlebar and the surrounding areas. This is our second visit to Annie's cottage and would definately recommend it.

Fabulous rural location, surrounded by space and sheep!.. but with nearest facilities only a few minutes drive away. A truly beautiful part of West Ireland.

  • "Annie's cottage is a very comfortable place for a holiday."

We were met by the owners Jim and Mai, and they were very welcoming. The cottage is well equipped, and cosy. No shortage of piping hot water for showers! The bedrooms are very comfortable, the kitchen of the main cottage is good although one or two small items such as a bread knife needed. If renting the whole house, the second kitchen (which seems barely used!) is also well equipped. The garden is very pretty, and large. The main destinations for day-visits involve a decent drive, often to Westport and beyond. We were supplied by Jim with fresh eggs from the farm regularly, and a box of freshly dug carrots! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you to Jim and Mai for their hospitality. If we find ourselves back in Co Mayo again, I wouldn't hesitate in coming back to Annie's. Highly recommended.
