  • "Dromore Cottage is spacious and airy and set in beautiful grounds in a lovely location."

Mrs Dowd was very prompt at meeting us and showing us around the property. The use of the Aga in the kitchen was to heat water for baths and washing up and we were asked not to meddle with it. The heating was insufficient, mornings were very cold as were the end part of the evening. The beds are very uncomfortable and the duvets/covers smelt musky. The cottage smells damp as soon as you open the front door, which I imagine is due to insufficient heating. Despite our best efforts we could not find the BBQ which we were looking forward to using when we had our family come and visit. We had to settle for a take away. There are two door keys on the keyring provided. One opened the front door, the other didn't seem to fit anywhere which meant we had no way of unlocking the door to the rear of the property. We didn't need to use it in the end, however, I would suggest that this is a hazard in case of a fire in the property. There were two hand towels provided for our use in the bathroom, whilst we are not 'big' people, a hand towel is never going to be adequate for drying after a shower. We located towels in the hallway cupboard and found two slightly larger ones. The two bins in the kitchen are for clean plastic/paper and the other for metal/tin. There was no bin for food scraps or general waste. The property is lacking in maintenance and comfort. The toilet doesn't flush properly and many of the windows are locked or the handles are broken. There were no batteries in the TV remote and a couple of light fittings are missing light bulbs. Dromore has the potential to be a wonderful place to stay but needs a large dose of love and attention.

  • "Beautiful house Mrs Dowd is a wonderful lady."

So warm and friendly nothing is too much trouble. We had a lovely 4 nights here, so peaceful wonderful garden for grandchildren to play. Excellent bade for our travels. We will be back but one bit advice and it's not nasty, please get new mattress for bed opposite kitchen, very old and uncomfortable, but apart from that just great.

  • "Lovely out the way cottage but not too out the way."

Wild otters in nearby river and fantastic dark skies if you get the right weather to look at the stars. Fantastic heating system and facilities private parking right at front door and side of cottage. Would recommend for a quiet get away.

  • "We arrived Friday 10th in the evening."

Mrs Dowd was available to give us the keys. Rooms were so spacious and comfortable. Only one bathroom but that was not a problem for us. Kitchen had all facilities and devices. Living room spacious with tv, DVD player, and movies. Dining room huge and sits 8 but only 6 chairs (we took 2 from the kitchen). The garden is lovely and the kids had a ball playing and exploring outside. It was cold the weekend we came up but the house had heating and we used it at night and mornings. It also heated the water for the bath and shower. Overall we had a wonderful time and enjoyed all the facilities. The property was clean and all the linen was available to us for any changes of beds or towels and table clothes. Could not find fault at all!! Thanks to Sykes Cottages in Ireland.

  • "The property itself was very comfortable and reasonably clean."

It would have been nice to have had a basic welcome pack of tea, coffee and milk. There were no wine/beer glasses which meant a 40 mile round journey to purchase same. Shops and pub are over a mile away down a steep hill, and not really accessible to the elderly. Overall our experience was good and we had a really good time there.

  • "We had a fantastic time in Mary's house."

From the warm and generous welcome we received until our departure we couldn't have asked for or expected more. The house was spotlessly clean, spacious, warm and very well equipped. The location was superb, very handy for the village (5 minutes walk) and for the scenic coast from Ballina to Sligo town. There were also loads of interesting walks starting from the house. The highlight was, however, the friendliness and warmth of our host, Mary.

  • "This is spacious bungalow with great facilities and lovely secure gardens front and back in a quite location."

Very good touring base for Sligo & Mayo. Beautiful beaches especially Inniscrone and Dunmoran Strand. Mary was very helpful with local info and after she had given us the key left us to our holiday until morning of departure. I would recommend this house to anyone.
