  • "Mary, the owner of Daffodil Cottage, rang us the day before our arrival date to make sure that we were still able to come to her beautiful cottage and offered us an earlier arrival time which was most acceptable to us as we are rather elderly and were not looking forward to the long drive from home."

Mary is such a hospitable person who met us on our arrival and showed us around her beautiful cottage. She even went that extra mile by providing milk and biscuits on our arrival. We brought our small dog with us who made himself very much at home in his bed in the Kitchen. The house has every possible utensil for cooking and ample comfortable furniture for relaxing reading, knitting and watching T.V. in the spacious lounge area. Torches were supplied in the event of a power outage which were so helpful when we brought our small dog out into the garden to relieve himself after nightfall. The amenities in the area within easy reach of the cottage are so appealing. We would highly recommend this beautiful cottage and the surrounding countryside to anyone who would like to dance with Wordsworth's "Daffodils"

  • "We had a lovely week in Daffodil cottage in north Sligo."

It was very cosy and comfortable and just minutes from the coast road between Sligo and Donegal with lots of beaches nearby. Our favourite was Rossnowlagh - about 30 mins drive away but Streedagh and Mullaghmore were also lovely and only minutes away. Mary was very helpful throughout and we enjoyed hearing the history of the cottage from times gone by. A lovely holiday overall and definitely one on our list for returning to one day.

  • "Mary was a wonderful host wbo came to help me check in and check out."

The cottage is really cozy, everything worked well, and the kitchen was well stocked. Its location is handy, just three doors from the Sligo-Bundoran highway. There's lots of room out back for your dogs to wander around in, too.

  • "Nice property in a very beautiful setting."

Great base to explore the surrounding beauty spots like Glencar waterfall or any of the beautiful long sandy beaches. Very easy to get around on the great roads. We brought our dog with us so there were certain places we could not take him like Glencar falls or Lissadell house or the grounds. The nicest beaches we found were Streedagh about 2 miles away (right turn in Grange village where there is a SuperValu for your groceries). There was also Rossnowlagh beach about 9 or 10 miles away out through Bundoran. I was in Bundoran in the 1970's but I was not too impressed with it this time round that's why I drove straight through and discovered Rossnowlagh beach. You can drive onto the beach if you like. It's a dog friendly beach and it's very long and sandy. We also visited the Marble Arch cave which was about an hour away. You are better off booking online beforehand. The tour was very good and took about 1 hour. There is a gift shop and cafe there as well. We were very lucky with the weather too. Overall we enjoyed our holiday.

  • "What a brilliant venue."

Everything is so assessable (by car) and near. Nine minutes from the beach and the mountains are just up the road. Sligo too is only a short journey away if you want to shop, but the magic is in the landscape all around you. Grange, which is just down the road, has a good supermarket so you will never be stuck. The house itself is clean and homely with good parking. It has an authentic traditional Irish home "feel" to it, and yet it has everything you could need on hand. The atmosphere is full of lives of real people and that of many wonderful childhoods. Memories by the sea overlooked by Bebulben drift around you from every corner of this family home. If there was anything to complain about, it was the having to come home part. Sligo is an amazing county that is so easy to explore and this is a perfect base to do it from.

  • "Great - choosing Daffodil Cottage - I personally think - I made the right decision - 5 mins drive to the local village - town centre is about 20mins - beaches are about 5 - 10 mins - scenic views of the mountains are behind the cottage - Bundoran is about 15 mins & Donegal town is about 45 mins - Mary is nice - everywhere was cleaned - so I'll 100% recommend that cottage."

About the location

GRANGE, COUNTY SLIGO

Sligo 10 miles.

The village of Grange in County Sligo is the starting point for a spectacular drive through the Gleniff Horseshoe with its limestone cliffs in the valley between the Truskmore and Kings Mountains. Grange is at the foot of the Dartry Mountain range with its distinctively shaped Benbulben Mountain which is known worldwide as the symbol of County Sligo. Created by glaciers during the Ice Age, Benbulben Mountain is home to a fascinating range of flora and fauna including a number of species that in Ireland are only found on its slopes. The county town of Sligo is 10 miles away and contains an array of shops, bars and restaurants. Its name derives from the Gaelic word Sligeach, meaning Shelly River due to the abundance of shellfish in the waters around the town.
