  • "The property had a beautiful view across to Lough Derg, nice and peaceful and enjoyed our stay."

.....However the property itself is in need of an update -An abandoned car and broken glass on the drive -Damp patch on the master en suite bathroom ceiling,as well as a strong smell from the septic tank! -No working washing machine or dishwasher -The w/c in the shower room not secure, very wobbly. -Placemats on dining table have seen better days. -Odd collection of cups ,plates and crockery. -Dust in places of lounge and Conservatory., and for the first time in 10+years of using Sykes the host did not visit or introduce themselves during our visit.

While it is regretted that the guest had some issues and comments to make regarding the house and these certainly will be taken on board, we wish to respond as follows: The question of a greeting meeting did not arise in our telephone conversation prior to arrival, but could have been arranged. Subsequent Text’s sent to the guest on four separate days went unanswered. The property is as described in the brochure and is reasonably large, comfortable, clean, cosy and well presented. It is not ultra- modern. As explained to the guest, the car was parked there for a purpose. It is perfectly roadworthy. It is not abandoned and out of the way in the large curtilage. The few pieces of glass in front of the conservatory were very small pieces of safety tempered glass left after sweeping up from a recent glass panel replacement and represented no safety issue at all. The septic tank is located well away from the house in an adjacent field to which guests do not have access. The tank does not smell. As regards all the other issues, these are noted and attended to but were inconsequential to the enjoyment of the house. In particular the house is not advertised with a dishwasher and the washing machine was brand new and in perfect working order, requiring only to be switched on at the socket by the user. Where you’ll be staying

PUCKANE, COUNTY TIPPERARY

Nenagh 6 miles; Portumna 18 miles.

Nenagh is truly a town for all seasons. There are not too many provincial Irish towns about which you can honestly say that a weekend isn’t nearly long enough. The location was formerly a market town and its name in Irish means “The Fair of Ormond”, a reference to the Ormond Fair. Nenagh is a thriving commercial town. There are many insightful places to visit in and around Nenagh, Tipperary. Nenagh Heritage Centre is situated in two stone Georgian buildings which were built as the Governor’s House and Gatehouse of an extensive goal complex for North Tipperary. The building is placed just a short walk from Nenagh town centre. Nenagh Castle has been magnificently restored and is now open to visitors. Climb over 100 steps to the top for panoramic views of the surrounding areas. Keeper Hill is the highest mountain in the Silvermines area and the 117th highest in Ireland. Don't miss the tribute to Olympians, and find out what's going on in Nenagh Arts Centre to keep you entertained during your stay. Walking tours of the town are also available by a local tour guide. Adventure further afield by car, bicycle or hiking and you'll discover the tranquil Lough Derg, the rolling hills and the welcoming people of Tipperary.
