  • "Outside appearance poor."

Bleak outdoors area. Disused pub an eyesore. Needs improvement in landscaping. Front door needs painting. Heating initially not working although Sarah was very attentive & helpful. Insufficient toilet rolls, no kitchen rolls, or refuse sacks of appropriate size. A small welcome pack wouldn't cost much. Dust in bedrooms & blocked sink in ensuite

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to hear that you found so many negatives. We would have gladly helped if we had known, but as you told us that 'the house was lovely' and 'nice and cosy' we were unaware you were unhappy. All of the houses at An Seanachai have been externally painted over the summer and we replaced all our windows in June so we are surprised that you found the outside appearance to be poor. Your suggestion of landscaping will be passed on to the management company who look after the external area at An Seanachai. The disused pub has recently been sold and is currently being renovated, apologies as I have no control over that but I'm sure it will be fantastic on completion. The heating was not working because you had inadvertently engaged the child locks but it was easily remedied when we called out. If we had been made aware of other issues we could have attended to them at the same time. We are sorry that you were not happy with the supplies provided but we do advertise as self catering so presume that a toilet roll in each bathroom and bin bags in every bin will be sufficient for guests until they go shopping for food, etc. Most of our guest enjoy their stay in our self-catering holiday home, it may be that a hotel would better serve your requirements in the future. • "Happy with our stay."

House was clean and well maintained. Although the pub is closed next door there is a pub a quarter of mile away - the Marine Bar. Was concerned about the energy being on meter but I think €50 will easily suffice if you manage water heating etc sensibly. Although it was summer- us London types were not used to the Irish summer and needed heating turn on. Was a few issues with the electrical heaters but owners were very responsive and helpful.

  • "We had a fab stay in 11 An Seanachai Holiday Home."

The house is in a perfect location situated a short car journey between Dungarvan town and Ardmore. The house is well equipped, the decor is fabulous and all beds were extremely comfortable. The owners were a pleasure to deal with and we will most definitely be back.

  • "Excellent facility."

Lots of room, very clean, very well equipped, large double bedrooms, great en-suites. Showers are excellent. Comfortable beds. We had a few chilly nights and heating worked really well although slightly complicated to get started. We were really surprised at how large the house was. Great location but quiet and lots of parking. We had a problem with hot water and the owners had an electrician out within hours to fix it.

  • "We were all disappointed in the accommodation at 11 An Seanachai."

The biggest problem was the heating which was mostly nonexistent (ground floor bathroom was absolutely frigid) but when it came on was totally random. We got NO response from either email or text requesting assistance in regulating the heat which we could not solve on our own as the guest instruction book makes no mention of it For the first couple of days, there was no heat in the upstairs double bedroom and then once it is was hot when we returned from a day out and once it was warm in the morning -- that's the heat in that bedroom for the week. The heater by the dining table worked but that's all. The clothes washing machine did not function properly; when turned on it stayed on the wash cycle forever, never moving on to rinse and never stopping. There were no laundry tablets though the guest book said there were. There are no towel bars in either shower nor soap dish in the shower. The freezer needs defrosting. It would be good to mention that the An Seanachai pub is NOT open. I would recommend providing placemats for the table as well as drink coasters; clearly, hot/wet mugs/glasses have already left numerous marks on the wooden tables. Since it is a pedestral sink upstairs which provides no vanity for placing toiletries, I would suggest replacing the cute rowboat in the corner with useful shelving, and of course adding towel rails. There is no place for toiletries in the ground floor shower room either. Guests are asked to use the recycling bins but no information is provided as to WHAT can be recycled: glass?plastic?cans?paper? cardboard? On the positive side, location is excellent and there is plenty of paved parking. The owner and Sykes need to be MUCH more responsive to guests' needs once on site rather than ignoring them once they've booked and arrived. It would not take much to make this a top notch apartment but at the moment it needs attention.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear you had a disappointing stay at An Seanachai. I am unsure why you were unable to get in touch with us during your stay. Other guests have had no issue getting in touch. The heating system is newly installed which is why the information is not updated in the welcome book, apologies. When the accomodation is vacant we will check this and the washing machine. Although, again, no other guests have reported any issues with either. Thank you for your comments regarding towel rails and storage in the bathrooms. There are towel rings and hooks on doors and the cute boat is intended for storage. However, we will reassess this. A soap dish is not provided as there are hand wash dispensers in all bathrooms and miniature toiletries are also supplied. I will speak to the management company regarding your comments about the bins. The An Seanachai pub being temporarily closed is outside of our contol but we have informed Sykes and it is now noted on their website. Again, sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay as much as our other guests have. Best regards, Sarah & Richy Property Owner

  • "It was never mentoined that the electricity was on a meter, and although we didn't have to pay to top the meter up, when it was done the amount was very small (€50 for 4 days was on the meter)."

This gave the impression that we wouldn't get anymore during our stay. The rate being charge was very high (57c p/kwh) to cover heating the freezing house for four days. We only heated three rooms and the rest of the house was extrememly cold and uncomfortable to be in. We used the €50 by heating two bedrooms and the sitting room, usng the hob twice, some lights in the rooms we were in, the TV a couple of hours a day and the shower x3) The water immersion didn't work so we all used one electric shower in the ensuite where the wall heater was also broken. This would be a fabulous place to stay in the summer, it was well equiped but unfortunately the cold made it very uncomfortable.
