  • "A fabulous property."

Lots of space for the 4 of us. Ann and Ciaran were very welcoming. The scones, cakes, crisps and milk left for us were a nice surprise. As were the delicious strawberries that Ann brought round later in the week. We loved Duncannon Beach and Off the Hook for their huge ice cream and fish and chips. We wished the weather had been better for us to spend more time in the garden! The Wi-fi was being updated while we were there and the only thing I mentioned to the owners was that the shower curtain was a bit flimsy. We would definitely recommend your property to others. A lovely base to explore the area. Thanks for a great week.

Thank you so much for both taking time to offer the feedback and for your positive comments We are thrilled that you found out property to be a suitable place to base yourselves from. It was a pleasure to host you and your family We would welcome you back anytime and hopefully the sunny south east will live up to its title for you next time should you return All the best Ann and Ciaran Property Owner

  • "Newtown Lodge was clean, comfortable and well equipped."

It is an ideal place to explore the surrounding coast and countryside. There is a nice private garden with comfy chairs at the back of the house. Anne, the owner gave us a friendly greeting and showed us everything around which was useful. Also great that we could bring our dog who loved the near by beaches! Not a criticism but a suggestion- it would be nice to have a drop of milk left in the fridge to make our first cup of tea and also a colander for the kitchen! We had a lovely time. Thankyou

  • "We found the property disappointing for the following reasons: There was a smell of dampness when we opened the door The floors were dirty and I had to wash them twice (had to ask for a mop) The grout around the shower tray shows mould and a shower curtain is really outdated as closure for a shower."

The small cupboard under the bathroom sink is dirty. There is no shower mat available so we used a small towel. The curtain rail in the master bedroom is rusty. The mattress is very thin. The kitchen equipment: washing machine had mould in the drawer and the rubber seal inside of the door (I used Flash with bleach on it which I had brought with me). There are three cutting knifes: a pizza cutter, a smaller slicer and a bigger slicer, no bread knife. The only cutting board is very small. There is no salad bowl or jug available. The grass behind the property was not cut and except for a small table with two chairs there was no other seating available. On Wednesday (22nd of May 2024) during our stay there was no running water available (alerted the son of the owner and the problem was fixed on the day). We have photographic evidence of our concerns and feel that the property is not ready to be let. We would also like to speak with you about a refund.

I appreciate you taking the time to write a review as I always welcome a discourse that may provide a means to improve the quality of the service that we deliver to our clients. I understand that there were some areas that I will indeed address such as the cupboard and the lack of bath mat. I don’t intend to itemise the other comments regarding chopping boards number of knives except to say we have attended to these matters. However I want to bring some matters to your attention which are at odds with your narrative of your experience. To begin with, the floors were swept, hovered and steam mopped prior to your visit. The lawn was cut on the Sunday of your visit, as you are aware we have had a lot of rain resulting in cutting the grass only when it has reached a point where we can mow without damaging the grass. Garden furniture including a table with two armchairs was supplied on your arrival. Also on Sunday, you were supplied with an L-shaped garden sofa and a stool. With regards to the disruption in water supply referred to in your feedback; the engineer that called out to resolve the issue discovered the motor and pump had been destroyed because a tap was left on in the polytunnel. We got this resolved in hours at great expense to us. We were happy to do this as we value our guests comfort during their stay and we are always on hand to help resolve any matters raised. Best wishes, Ann. Ok Property Owner
