  • "Old house, way over priced."

Friendly welcome and breakfast ingredients available. Comfortable beds and nice sheets and towels. House is old and way over priced, compared to other houses I ve stayed this year. (Over 20 houses) Old and dirty carpets, could do with an update. Living room is cluttered and the Tv is behind sofa. No central heating, difficult to keep the house warm with 3 fire places. Fridge and microwaves located in a room without any heating. House is by the side of an working farm where owners walk pass kitchen windows often. Shower draining was blocked.

The property

Set just outside of the Irish village of Adamstown in County Wexford is this characterful yet spacious cottage, An Grianan.

An Grianan meaning a sunny place, and this lovely old farmhouse , which was built in the 1850’s is certainly that.

With a multilevel garden for the warmer months and toasty woodburning stoves throughout the property for the cooler months, this cottage makes a wonderful base for a family holiday or a relaxing break with friends or another couple.

Inside, you can find your social spaces on the ground floor, including a fully equipped kitchen with a Range cooker, a woodburning stove and a handy dishwasher to help with the cleaning up after dinner at the table for eight.

From here, the sitting room offers space to unwind in front of another woodburning stove, and for entertainment, choose from a selection of books or a DVD to watch on the TV.

Upstairs, three well-appointed bedrooms, a king-size and two doubles, are served by a neat shower room, so you can rest your head and wake up to a refreshing shower.

Outside, the patio area makes a fantastic space for dining alfresco, while the lawned area is perfect for games with the children or for your four-legged friend to roam.

When it’s time to explore, you will find a selection of restaurants and attractions just a short drive from the cottage; why not treat your loved ones to a meal at Abercrombie Restaurant or the Wildflower Cafe?

A fun day out can be found at the Secret Valley Wildlife Park, a perfect attraction for children and animal lovers.

Further afield, delightful walks can be enjoyed at nearby woodland and manicured grounds, including Ballymackessy wood, Woodville House and Gardens and the John F Kennedy Arboretum.

History enthusiasts may want to take a trip to the Johnstown Castle Estate, Museum & Gardens and the Dunbrody Famine Ship Experience, or you can simply make your way to the coast for a day among the fresh sea air!
