  • ""We loved our week at Hayway" The cottage was very clean and situated in a pretty little village with good facilities and lovely local walks."

Sally and Anthony were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed visiting National Trust garden & spending time on the beautiful South Hams beaches. The EV charging facility was a boon, it would be great if more properties had this facility. We would definitely return again

  • "The Hayway is generally nice with good facilities."

The driveway is a total nightmare. It’s very steep and you have to turn very sharply in to it from a narrow lane. There was no mention of sheep in the field directly behind the property that belonged to someone else who we found wandering around what we thought was solely our garden doing gardening and feeding the sheep. This was quite disconcerting. The owners woke us on the day after we arrived banging around in the garage which was under our bedroom quite early and unfortunately my girlfriend’s birthday. They were going on holiday and getting prepared. Rubbish had to be put behind owners property not in the bins outside our property which seemed strange. South Brent is a good base for a holiday in Decon but the actual property is not very convenient due to issues above.

Thanks for the observant feedback. We accepted your short booking and made room for you to park a motorbike in our garage. When you arrived by car, you let yourselves into the property without the key whilst we were getting ready to leave ourselves for our daughter's wedding in Italy. Perhaps we could have given you more time and greater explanation on the guest parking between the discs and the easier access by reversing up the driveway. However, Sykes have been told that this is part of a working smallholding with chickens and sheep. Sykes have been advised, and it is clearly in our notes that alternative parking is unrestricted on the road adjacent to the property. On Saturday morning, we tried to fit a bike rack to our car for our trip. We left it as late as possible to ask you to move your car away from the garage to access our bikes. We now realise that we should have done this in the pouring rain the day before. The detachable towbar had a broken spring and could not be engaged. The bikes had to be left behind. People in our vegetable garden were friends, kindly looking after our produce. I hope this explains some of your comments. Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed a very pleasant stay at this peaceful cottage ."

In the country in spite of indifferent weather.. We are both rather restricted in mobility and can not walk too far but greatly enjoyed vising the local National Trust properties. We thank the owners for their hospitality. #

It was a pleasure to meet you and so glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "Fabulous cottage in an ideal location to explore both the south Devon coastline as well as Dartmoor National park."

The cottage is very well equipped with everything needed..the full size fridge was great as many just have a mini one. A folder with walks and a small Dartmoor reading corner was useful. The shower is one of the best I've come across in a holiday cottage...absolute bliss. Sally and Anthony were very friendly...thanks to Sally for the recommended walks and the lovely welcome brownies.
