  • "We were warm and comfortable."

Five single beds was a bonus. The upstairs bathroom would benefit from a bracket on the wall for the shower head.

  • "We had a lovely week at 37 Market Street."

Cottage was ideal. Clean and comfortable. Cooked for ourselves several times. Local eateries were also good. We had several days out walking and exploring. Caught up with a few Marvel DVDs in the evenings. Appledore and the estuary was a delight.

  • "Very good have now stayed here 3 times."

Shame that the washing machine was changed to a dishwasher (which we didn't use !) but we were warned in advance!

  • "We had a lovely stay it was a brilliant cottage for a family as each teenager had their own room and with two bathrooms it made the process of getting ready so much easier."

We only had two issues - disappointing that no recycling is encouraged as we recycle all the time and feel this is something that should be encouraged. Secondly although the home was clean some of the pans and baking sheets were greasy and not washed - we had to wash them before preparing our meals. Also without a dishwasher more plates should be provided so constant washing up isn’t required. There was a small problem with the downstairs shower not draining away adequately but we dealt with it. The bathroom floor consequently flooded a bit after all of us had had a shower. Other than that a very pleasant stay and good value for money thank you !

Hi Julie So glad you had a lovely stay. Regarding your recycling point, I'm happy to say that we definitely do recycle. The property management company takes the black bags to SWM who sort the rubbish on site and recycle it. We use this arrangement to make it easier for guests and there is information about this in the info pack we provided in the house. You can also read more on SWM website. We also have a recycling box for those who wish to separate it themselves (although as mentioned, this isn't actually necessary). I'm sorry you missed this info when staying, I'll see if we can make it more prominent for future guests. Thank you for letting us know about the downstairs shower - we'll run some unblocker through to resolve the issue. Regarding the addition of a dishwasher - that's actually in our plans and we hope to fit one soon. We'll also mention the pans to the property management company. Thank you for your feedback, it really helps us make this cottage the best possible place for people to stay Best wishes Sam and Becky Property Owner

  • "Despite a few cleanliness issues at the start of our stay - which I believe to be more the fault of the management company rather than the owner, and these were rectified pretty quickly, we had a great week."

The location is brilliant, and if the fridge is replaced then you have everything you need. Beds were very comfy too.

Hi Verity Thank you for your feedback and I'm really glad you had a great holiday after the initial hiccup. We are mortified that there was a cleaning problem at the start of your stay - this had never happen before. We were able to get the management company out to the property to resolve the issue within an hour of you contacting us and are glad that they fixed the issue so promptly. We have followed up with them since then to understand how this happened and to make sure this won't happen again. We also have a new fridge ordered! Thank you Sam and Becky Property Owner

Very comfortable, well kitted-out and a homely feel. Parking just up and across the road with the option of a weekly rate (£22.50 in September 2023) for easy coming and going. Absolutely recommended.

  • "Lovely cottage in a great location."

Enjoyed our stay here very much,Comfortable beds but would point out steep stairs and no hand rail to loft bed room. Also table and chairs in kitchen could do with an update and fridge very small ( not much room for the wine). Have to say this did not detract from our stay though and we had a lovely holiday in our favourite part of Devon.

Thank you so much for your feedback - this is really helpful for us. We've now redone the chairs and table in the kitchen and the fridge is on our list to update. Sam and Becky Property Owner

  • "Great base for exploring the North devon coast ."

The cottage was kitchen wise well equipped and accommodation to suit . The attic bedroom could have done with a free standing clothes rail .. maybe against the rails . Beds comfortable . Lounge could have been arranged slightly better but was ok . A tad gloomy .. maybe white walls .. and more lamps . The courtyard maybe a freshen up . Xx

Thank you so much for your feedback - this is really helpful as we want to make the cottage as nice as possible. We've now added a clothes rail to the loft and lamp into the living room. The courtyard now has new furniture and we'll further freshen up over this year. Sam and Becky Property Owner

  • "We loved our short break in this delightful cottage."

The cottage had a real home from home feel to it and my youngest grandson was delighted when he found a chocolate on the towels in his bedroom! The welcome pack was a nice touch and the milk was delicious! We were lucky to be able to park on the quay only a short walk away. There is no way to get a car any closer. Parking on the road is free but it is £9 a day in the carpark. Highly recommended

  • "We absolutely loved our stay."

The cottage is so much more spacious than expected, with everything a family and/or group of friends would need for a short or long break. Lovely addition of games and films for rainy days and we enjoyed reading the books available about the history of Appledore. No need to buy crabbing kits, as these were supplied (which the kids loved!). We had a small issue during our stay, but were able to contact and sort it with the property managers, who were extremely friendly and helpful. All the decor, beds, furnishings and linen were comfortable - if I had to be really picky, the sofas are a little out of place (but that’s probably personal taste). Dog friendly too, with a very sweet addition of treats provided. Definitely recommend a stay if you’re planning a visit to the area. Public parking is available 5mins walk from property. Pubs, cafes, restaurants (recommend booking) fish & chips, and an amazing local shop/deli are all within walking distance.
