  • "Fabulous house for families we had a wonderful time staying here."

How things work in the house needs to be more explicit and easy to find! ie the oven, hot water etc. The BBQ was not clean so we needed to clean before use. More wine glasses please, there was plenty of Champagne ones

  • "We had been somewhat forced into finding a suitable house at the eleventh hour due to our regular home in Salcombe (for 20+ years) had suddenly been sold and our holiday cancelled !"

Why did we not stay in Batson in the summer so many years ago ? Batson House was perfect for the visiting family during the first week … but maybe a bit too large when we were left as just grandma and grandpa ! The location for the little boat at the slipway and the peacefulness were ideal - and it was actually a shorter and flat walk to the pub than it had been from North Sands… so that was appreciated. The house is perfect for at least 3 couples with assorted children - maybe 4 couples at a push. The only complaint (seen before in reviews) was that the BBQ was very dirty and needed complete strip down and wash & brush…. and we had to go and buy a new gas bottle at £49 (!) as the one left was empty. If it is offered as part of the package it should be useable on arrival. Other than that it was all very good … although there were no “instructions” specific to the house which might have helped when we lost all water pressure to the house ! Eventually flicked what looked like a light switch in utility room (next to boiler pump switches) and pressure was resumed. Somebody must have turned it off thinking it was a light switch ? Oh … and it would have been handy if the lights on the steps could be made to light up at night (or have instructions to get them to come on). But it is still a 5 out of 5 from us. Thank you.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your wonderful feedback. We are thrilled you loved Batson House. We can only apologise that the BBQ was left in a poor condition, please know that if you had made us aware of the situation whilst you were on holiday, we would have rectified it immediately. Again thank you for your feedback, Batson House really is a special property. We do hope that we can welcome you back again soon. Property Owner

  • "Batson House was stunning and only a 1mile walk to Salcombe."

It was however not good value for money. On arrival the barbeque was thilthy. The clothes airer was broken. There was a washing line but no usable pegs. The double room door was v tight and someone got stuck inside and was unable to get out. There was a damp smell in the ensuite bathroom, first floor. There was also a broken door handle to bunk bedroom, leaky shower door and broken toilet brush top floor bathroom. This room also had cobwebs and dead insects. There was a lack of small things like dishwasher salt, rinse aid, salt and pepper, cleaning materials, washing up brush. The garden had 3 bins full of rubbish, one of which had been knocked over so there was rubbish all over the car park. I did speak to Coast and Country on arrival and went into the office on the Monday morning. The rubbish was cleared on day 3 but nothing else was fixed until the Thursday night just before we left. We did have an enjoyable holiday but it could have been better.

We were sorry to hear that Batson House was not presented to it's usual high standard, and that the issues you reported were not dealt with until part way through your stay. We are pleased to advise that everything has now been remedied. We hope that despite these issues you were able to enjoy your holiday and that we will be able to welcome you back to the area again soon. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful house, suited our needs perfectly."

After coming to Salcombe for over 30 years this is the first time we stayed at Batson Creek. We loved it. A couple of minor gripes, one of the ensuite sinks leaked , the 3 dustbins were all full and hadn't been emptied for at least 2 weeks and a broken front window, all reported to sykes first day but nothing was done. However this didnt spoil our holiday. Just suprised as previous years sykes have been very responsive.

  • "This is a very comfortable and well equipped property in easy walking distance to facilities in Salcombe and close to beautiful coastal walks."

Some people mentioned not enough hot water but, as a group of 7 adults, we had no problems at all. I need to say that, there had apparently been staffing issues and therefore the property had not been properly cleaned. I only mention this, not to deter anyone from booking, but to say that the management company did their very best to rectify the situation, were upfront with us as to why it had happened and came to see us to apologize in person. We would definitely go back.

  • "This is a fabulous property."

The accommodation and location suited our mixed age group perfectly, with an easy walk into Salcombe. The house was very well equipped. We would have no hesitation in returning and are just sorry that it already looks to be booked for our dates next year.

  • "Beautiful house in a picturesque location we all had a lovely week."

Kitchen was so well stocked with everything you could need even down to plastic cups, plates etc for the children. Sky box would benefit being nearer the tv as it was awkward to use the remote control.

  • "A beautiful & spacious house with everything we needed for our family holiday."

One small thing, we needed a cot for our granddaughter & we were told there wasn’t one so we brought our own travel cot. We found one in the cupboard so it would’ve been good to have known about it. The kitchen was very well equipped & the beds were very comfortable. We will definitely book this house again.

Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased to hear that Batson house had everything you needed for your stay and agree it is a beautiful spacious home. Please accept our apologies with regards to the travel cot, it will be there for you when we can welcome you back to Salcombe. Property Owner

  • "Batson House is a beautifully presented holiday home, done up to a very high standard."

We enjoyed our stay here but felt that it could have been made better by more useful information being available. In the information book with regard to heating it simply says that the house uses oil not gas and to please bear this in mind when using. This means nothing to me as I have never lived in a house that uses oil. We ran out of hot water after 3-4 showers on the first morning. There were 10 of us that would have liked to wash and the house sleeps up to 12. There was nothing to warn us about the fact that hot water was likely to run out and to use hot water sparingly. There were a few other gripes too. It didn't seem to be possible to actually turn on the lovely heated towel rails, again some information about how to do this would have helped. Also, the bottom oven didn't work. The house claims to have WiFi but when you get there it mentions in the information book that the Wifi is unreliable and intermittent. This is an understatement! I hate having to rely on such things but two members of our party needed to be able to complete some work over the weekend and were reliant on the Wifi in order to do so, some prior information about this again would have helped. Lastly, the layout of the house means that noise travels very well, so when younger (or older!) people go to bed before others in the house, it is hard to keep noise to a level that doesn't disturb those on higher levels. Having said all of that, it is a lovely house in a lovely situation and the walk in to Salcombe along the creek is beautiful.

Thank you for your feedback, the property has an immersion tank which will after several showers need to re fill and warm up. The oven has been been fixed and is working fine. We are sorry that you say that you had problems with the WIFI, this can be intermittent occasionally due to the rural location of the property and area and will depend on amount of people using it also. We hope to welcome you back to Salcombe soon. Property Owner

  • "Excellent and perfect property in all aspects."

Very happy stay and would book again without hesitation, Only downsides were: - slow running drains on one side of house. By the last day this had badly affected the showers and basins in two bathrooms. Reported to the cleaner. - information at house stated that we had to leave property as we found it, which gave me a lot of housework to get through by 10am, including the showers with blocked drainage. It was left cleaner than we found it. When the cleaner arrived, she suggested that I needn't have done all the cleaning and so I suggested that the house information be corrected to reflect this.
