  • "The cottage was beautiful."

Perfect for a family holiday. Well stocked kitchen, comfy beds and sofas in this large property. Yes the kitchen is a bit small, but that adds to the fun of the stay. Outside there is ample seating in a picturesque garden with beautiful surrounding scenery. We were blessed with sunny weather for our stay, so we used the outside a lot. The snug is a cosy place to sit in the late evening for a drink and chat. We would definitely use this property again. PERFECT.

  • "Everything about the house was lovely and so comfortable."

Tammy's cake was delicious. Just one negative - the directions to the property seemed to be missing some detail. It said: "Follow A361 and then follow B3230 to your destination. The B3230 is a very long road. You will pass St Peter Bittadon. Your property will be further ahead." The house is not on the B3230 so it was good that Tammy had called in advance and mentioned turning off the B3230 just before the Bittadon village sign! We then followed satnav which led us up the hill to a farmyard full of piles of tyres. When we eventually did find the house, we then spent the next hour standing on the road to flag down and direct the rest of our group arriving in different cars! So clearer directions would be very helpful for your guests!

  • "Bittadon Cottage is perfectly situated both in terms of aestheticism and pragmatism in that it is isolated within a picturesque hillside setting with views of the valley but is within easy reach of shops and beaches, most notably with a Tesco superstore a short drive away."

The cottage not only met but exceeded our expectations containing everything one could possibly expect when away from home from the well-stocked kitchen necessities to the scented towels, bedding and fragranced hand wash liquid making the customer feel that bit more valued. Customer satisfaction is clearly the focus with two of the four well-appointed bedrooms compromising ensuite facilities plus two additional bathrooms and two separate living areas one facilitated with a cosy and welcoming log burning stove. Outside there are extensive lawns with a summerhouse retreat. Getting a welcoming call from the owner was a nice touch as was being greeted by the ‘caretaker’ who lives in the adjoining cottage. Whilst the internet connection can be a bit temperamental, none the less this was a lovely home from home retreat that we would not hesitate in returning to.

  • "This is a beautiful cottage set in a quiet location with all the charm of its Victorian roots."

Four good-sized bedrooms, two en-suite, with views across the valley. For star-gazers, on a clear night the sky gives a beautiful display of the heavens. As there was only two of us the space downstairs was more than ample but with more than six people in the cottage, the kitchen would represent a challenge to cooking for more than that number as, though well furnished with equipment, it is on the small side. The grounds are a very good size and, along with extensive lawns, mainly planted with cottage garden flowers and shrubs. If you have small children, there is quite a steep slope down one side which might mean constant supervision. Communication was very good which made our stay so much easier. We loved the property and were very sad to leave.

Very grateful for your feedback - I have cooked very successfully for eight there, by the simple expedient of telling everyone else to get out of my kitchen! All eight around the dining table is a bit cosy but it's the second fridge and all the extra cold storage for food in the pantry that makes the real difference. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you again soon. Property Owner

  • "This is a lovely spacious cottage with a large garden and summer house to enjoy and is pretty much as describes."

Several beaches are within 25 minutes of several beaches and the nearest supermarket is 4 miles away. As well as a welcome pack we had a home made cake waiting for us - they checked for allergies a few days before we arrive. Being an old cottage you can expect thick walls, and a mix of single glaze and double glazing. We went in July and at time it was a little cold. In places its a bit shabby , as opposed to shabby chic, and there are quite a few spiders around.so not for the arachnophobes. As advertised wifi is a bit hit and miss and v slow so don't bank on being able to stream Netflix etc. Also don't much of a phone signal as well. An improvement would be to put all the info about the cottage, , your stay and the surrounds in 1 folder, like other operators do.

Relieved to know that this translates into just needing a lick of paint and perhaps a sofa upgrade. The wi-fi is a perennial I'm afraid, we went for the best BT package but we can't do anything about the hills. Otherwise I'm glad to know you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back again next year. Property Owner

  • "What a delightful cottage!"

Probably the most well-prepared property we have ever stayed in - everything you could think of was provided, plus a few things you hadn’t thought of! Having a ‘welcome’ cake was a lovely touch, and the ’starter pack’ provided was extensive & far above expectation! Communication was always quick, both prior to and during our stay. Highly recommended!

We also suggest an outside light to go down the stairs in the dark from the car park to the back door, we used to leave the car headlights on so that my mother could find her way down the steps safely. We could not fault the property is was beautiful, everything was more than we expected, the hamper and cake was a brilliant touch. I suppose the only down size is that we felt we lost a day not being able to go into the property before 4pm and then having to leave by 10am. Otherwise we had a wonderful time.

We loved how comfortable this cottage was. After a long day it was brilliant to come back and relax in font of the fire. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. We occasionally had issues with the hot water if a few of us had showers in short succession, and the WiFi isn’t the best, but it did us well as we all needed a bit of an escape. The garden was perfect for sitting and enjoying the morning sun with a coffee. We all want to return to this cottage for a holiday in the future.

  • "The Cottage provides a lovely quiet and relaxing break, with all the home comforts you would want."

Everything was spotlessly clean and ready to go, with a welcome pack including a delicious home baked cake. Received a call from Sarah the day before we arrived, to offer some final details and guidance should we need it. The only disappointment was, that we couldn't stay longer to soak up more peace and tranquility. Thanks for helping create a great holiday, after such a difficult 18 months for everyone.

  • "This was a lovely cottage to stay in, very spacious and well equipped."

The welcome bundle including a fresh homemade cake was an absolute treat for everyone on arrival. We had a couple of hiccups but these were soon sorted by the friendly and helpful Housekeeper (Sarah). The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and comfy and the towels are a fluffy and large (which is hard to come by with a lot of holiday cottages!). The warm utility room was brilliant for drying wetsuits and raincoats after damp days. The one downside for us was that the dining table only seats 6 people but the house sleeps 8 so we couldn't all eat together. But otherwise, I would highly recommend this lovely cottage.

As there is seldom call to seat eight people around the dining table the two extra chairs are kept elsewhere in the cottage (one at the desk on the landing upstairs and the other in the second bedroom). When put to use these do mean eight people can be seated, albeit a little closely together. Property Owner

  • "The cottage is the absolute perfect getaway."

Warm, comfortable, spacious and packed with absolutely everything you could possibly need for whatever holiday you're aiming for. The weather ranged from brilliant sunshine to storm winds, and yet we found the cottage well-equipped to be the perfect setting for any weather - a well-situated base for walking, a huge garden with deck chairs for relaxing in the sun, or a cozy place to shelter from the rain with the fire and board games. We arrived for my birthday and the birthday cake with candles was a really thoughtful touch too. Things you might be wondering: the kitchen is VERY well stocked for any cooking, and the welcome hamper is really generous. The showers are powerful and hot. The beds are very comfortable. The whole place is exceptionally clean. The fire is easy to tend to and there's plenty of wood for it. The wifi is a little weak and there is no phone reception, so best not to plan for lots of internet use. The couple days of extreme weather also meant some (very brief) dips in power while we were there, but there is a wood burner for heat and cooking (which we didn't end up needing), and plenty of candles and a torch etc (again, the dips didn't last long enough for us to need them but worth knowing they're well stocked). We would DEFINITELY come back. Would HIGHLY recommend the Terrace Tapas Restaurant in Ilfracombe for dinner (the cocktails are GREAT), and the Dolphin for Fish & Chips (they even do GF).

The two main bedrooms have spacious en-suites and lovely countryside views. The kitchen is small but very well equipped. We felt that we were staying in someone’s home rather than a holiday let and we did not want to leave. The house is perfectly positioned to explore the coast path and Exmoor. Tip-if you are driving from Barnstaple and go pass the Bittadon road sign you have passed the turning the cottage.

  • "Booked this beautiful cottage at the beginning of the year with no idea what was about to unfold."

My family and I had a fabulous time, the cottage had everything we needed and there was a very wide range of ages. The garden is gorgeous and the children had a great time playing in the "secret garden"! The welcome hamper was beyond all expectation and the fabulous chocolate cake lasted about 5 minutes! The cottage was a great location for getting out and about and for visiting the beaches. All my family had surfing lessons on the beach at Puttsborough and are now hooked! We know what to get them for Christmas this year! There was plenty of opportunity for walking and just generally being outside. We ate wonderful fish and chips from the local fish and chip shops and had a very good meal at The Beach House in Woolacombe. The cafe at the top of Puttsborough beach sells very delicious crab baps - highly recommend! We had fish from a local trout farm and generally ate far too much. We would definitely come back to this cottage again!

We didn't lack for any facilities at the cottage, and has a wonderful welcome hamper. The booking was easy, and we had a pre-holiday call from Sarah to check through arrival info, and I also had a very helpful text exchange with the owner re places to eat out. We went to Croyde, Saunton and Putsborough/Woolacombe beaches, walked around Baggy Point, around the grounds of Arlington Court, and Valley of Rocks and Watersmeet. We also did a lovely walk from the cottage before Sunday lunch. The Pyne Arms was excellent for Sunday lunch and an evening meal too, and we also have lovely brunch/lunch at Meraki coffee co at Woolacombe, and fish and chips at Squires in Braunton.

  • "The cottage was very well equipped with everything we needed to have a comfortable stay."

Comfortable beds, good showers, well equipped although small kitchen, two sitting areas and a beautiful garden. There was a hamper to welcome us as well as milk for our first cup of tea. At night the sky was lit up by stars as we had mainly clear skies. The downside was the internet. If I had known how bad it was I would not have booked as my husband was relying on broadband to read and send work emails. The lack of television channels was surprising - so many channels we take for granted at home just weren't available. Places we visited were Woolacombe and Croyde for my brother-in-law and sister-in-law as that was where they were engaged, Ilfracombe, Barnstaple (disappointing), Bude (great sandy beach ideal for surfers and families), Saunton Sands (another great beach), RHS Rosemoor (wonderful gardens), Dunster Castle NT and Arlington Court NT with an interesting house, lovely gardens and a wilderness walk plus the most delicious gooseberry and lemon drizzle cake. Disappointed by Tintagel though. My husband wanted to walk over the new bridge but the price was far too high so we declined. All in all we had a great week's holiday in an area new to my husband and I.

Thank you for your feedback. Internet speed for N. Devon is generally poor and the signal at the cottage is also intermittent which is why we draw attention to it in the Summary. Generally there is enough for email and Whatsapp but not if you need to move large files around I'm afraid. I am glad you had a good stay and we do hope to see you again at 2 Bittadon Cottages. • "Everything about this cottage was perfect, rural location but near enough to beaches and places of interest."

The only advise we would give is to warn people about the lump of concrete in the middle of the gates used to access the property as both our cars received substantial damage to the underside by driving over this.If you are forewarned about this you can avoid driving over it, but as you have to turn severely left off the lane yo only become aware of it when it is too late.

Thank you for your feedback. The two field gates at the entrance to the property are both eight feet wide. They are secured in the centre by a bolt housed in a modest concrete ramp which lessens to left and right. You only have to open one gate for slow access where the ramp is lower, but both sides have been remedied now. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again at 2 Bittadon Cottage.
