  • "It’s the the third time we have stayed in the holiday property."

Excellent accommodation and ideal base for exploring the area. 10/10

  • "We were extremely happy with the property and found it well equipped and very comfortable and clean."

However, we are in our 70's and would have liked some handles to aid getting in and out of the shower. We did find it difficult to sleep there due to the property being on the corner of a very busy crossroads with traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing made it very noisy from 5am to past midnight. Maybe some sound proofing would help.

  • "The property is really lovely, we were impressed when we arrived."

Very clean & comfortable. Everything you need, location great as only 10 mins walk into Brixham. Only 2 tiny niggles - the front door mortise lock is difficult to open & lock so we were worried about breaking the key & the upstair flooring is really creaky when trying to walk around or walking to bathroom at night. Apart from that it’s a real lovely property & well worth staying there.

  • "A super clean, well equipped house a 10 minute walk to the harbour with its extensive bus & boat links to most of the touristy sites."

As others have said there is some noise from the cross roads outside - it's not a huge issue though as the town is small enough not to have much in the way of a rush hour. There are plenty of eating options in the town - as always the reviews on tripadvisor will lead you in the right direction. The only complaint I have is the creaking floorboards in the smaller bedroom - they can be fixed rather than be viewed as part of the experience of an old house ! The friendly caretakers of the property lived eight footsteps away (I never got their names) they were a wealth of information about the area especially for those doing the coastal path walk.

Second was the lumpy uncomfortable mattress so it did spoil my stay this time around

  • "Overall the property was dirty, it had not been cleaned properly for a long time and there was evidence of the previous renters dirt (crumbs on the table, food in the kitchen drain, dirty cutlery and glasses and spaghetti stuck to the inside of a pan, microwave filthy etc) Property offered poor provision- No oven gloves No kitchen towel Only one tea towel provided for a week No kitchen paper - but stand provided Minimal washing up liquid No additional bin bags 2 kitchen lights not working and no bulbs provided for these lights Minimal bathroom hand wash provided Bathroom sink plugs and radiator rusty Bathroom blind casing filthy Bathroom radiator not working fully (previous renters had reported this in the visitor book) Carpets and bedside rugs upstairs did not feel fresh Sykes please address the failings of this property with the owners - it is very unpleasant to live for a week somewhere you feel is dirty and not up to standard."

On a better note - the bedding and towels were clean and fresh.

  • "Nice comfortable place to stay handy for walking to Brixham."

The only thing we didn't like was the road noise. Radiator in bathroom didn't come on when we stayed but the rest of the place was toasty we just left the doors open so nowhere was cold. Minor points carpets need a clean in the bedroom as previously someone's spilt something and good underlay in the future. Yes i did have to wash glasses before we used them but that's often the case with holiday lets not an issue for us.

The cottage was clean and comfortable with a very homely feel to it . ‘David’s ‘ fish and chips were amazing and just round the corner. We also had an enjoyable evening in The New Inn which was just off the harbour and played very good music.

  • "When we arrived the premises were spotless, toilet, cooking utensils not a speck of dirt."

Kitchen modern and as we extended our stay for another week the washing machine was great. There was ample space for us and the beds were very comfortable. We would not hesitate in staying again.

  • "Cottage was as advertised and had excellent facilities and was very clean."

Situated just a five minute walk from the harbour had a tight parking space but at least safe and off road. Only issue we had was with the dishwasher not working properly which I tried to resolve myself but the owner was contacted but I didnt receive any response which was slightly disappointing but overall would recommend.

  • "The cottage is spacious, very well equipped, with lots of storage."

The furnishings are lovely, the bed was really comfortable, and everwhere spotlessly clean. Thankfully, there is off road parking. We really enjoyed our stay, and Brixham is a good base for exploring the area. The building is positioned on a busy crossroads with cars stopping and starting at traffic lights, and at times it was really noisy.

The prettiest part of Brixham has small cottages in hilly narrow winding lanes leading to the harbour where all the activity is centred. Home to Britain’s largest fishing fleet which regularly lands their catch in the harbour, Brixham fish market sells to major restaurants in the UK. Brixham is the ideal destination for a traditional holiday with many family attractions around Torbay including two Blue Flag beaches, Paignton Zoo and many regattas and maritime events throughout the year. There are a host of safe cycle trails in the area, the South West Coastal Path and some of the best golf courses in the region.
