  • "We had a lovely stay and the property was clean, comfy and spacious."

No negatives in the cottage itself but the radiator in the back en-suite bedroom wouldn't work which made that room cold at night. We also had trouble with the remote on the extractor hood which was a little temperamental. I would definitely recommend this cottage to friends and family and hopefully we will return again soon.

Great to each have a bedroom. Perfectly located for a nice stroll into town and the seafront. Plenty to do in the town. We ate at Lilac which was excellent. Exceptionally clean, comfortable and well equipped.

  • "This is a spacious, well equipped and tastefully presented house in a convenient location for the town and beach."

There are two larger bedrooms both with good sized en suites in excellent order and two twin bedded rooms which are smaller but perfectly adequate. Five of us stayed for our holiday, three adults and two children aged 5 and 6. Adults are well catered for, but if you are taking younger children be prepared to take their own melamine plates and cutlery etc. if that's what they are used to as none are provided. Also take them things to do if the weather prevents you from going out as there is nothing in the house for them. We went in March and some days we had to spend more time at the house than we would normally do due to the storm and heavy rain. Again, if you are taking children, check what is available by way of attractions for them. We went during the first week of our children's Easter holiday, however, it was still term time locally and some of the events which they would have enjoyed, didn't start until the following week. I suspect that this only happens during the Easter break when attractions normally get under way for the season. My daughters and the children were very comfortable, but I suffer from a bad back that, unusually, means that I need a soft mattress to sleep. Unfortunately, the beds were far too hard for me As mentioned, we had a storm whilst we were there and a fence panel was loosened during the strong winds. I reported this, but it was still loose when we left and had not been repaired. Hopefully this has been rectified since. Overall, we were very happy with the property and especially with the equipment in the kitchen. Plenty of crockery and kitchen implements to cook up an evening meal if you don't want to go out to eat. Locally there are two reasonable convenience stores, so you can get most of your shopping done there and I had a supermarket deliver our main supplies on the day we arrived to save having all that extra packing. The roads around the property are steep and narrow, especially due to the number of parked vehicles. Luckily the frontage of the property for parking is level and two cars are amply accommodated. A nice holiday home which we would happily recommend to others.

Thank you for your positive review, we are delighted you enjoyed Lightkeeper’s Cottage and would recommend it to others. If you were to book again there is a set of melamine plates and cups in the kitchen. There is a Nintendo Switch in the living room and a cupboard in the kitchen with many games for children and adults, sorry you didn’t find them this time. We will invest in some children’s cutlery though great tip - thanks. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic house, this was our second stay at Lightkeepers House as we loved it so much the first time."

Great location, gorgeous house and very comfortable. There was a problem with the radiator in one of the double bedrooms as the valve had broken and the radiator wouldn’t work. We called the helpline and a guy arrived really promptly to fix but it wasn’t fixable until change over day. The extractor fans in bathrooms didn’t seem to work either. Our only ask is that there are more lounge seats in the open plan area, as a family we all wanted to sit together but were unable to as only really 3/4 people and we were a family of 5 and the house sleeps 8. We didn’t want to split ourselves between the two lounges and also couldn’t get normal TV in the other lounge. We also didn’t want to sit on the dining room chairs in the evenings as just wanted to chill out together on a sofa/ armchair. That’s our only suggested improvement, the house is perfect otherwise , beautifully comfortable beds, amazing showers and bath, A very high spec finish and also a lovely welcome pack. Thank you

  • "10:00 check out is quite early when we are expected to empty bins, stop beds and leave the place clean."

Obviously leaving the place in an appropriate state is expected as is emptying bins.

  • "The cottage is spacious and comfortable and the en-suite bathrooms help to make it ideal for a multigenerational family."

The kitchen is very well equipped and several games are provided for wet weather entertainment. The short walk to the beach along the river is a bonus as one doesn’t need to be concerned about driving or parking. One concern is the absence of recycling facilities. There is a box for glass but no separate bin for plastic, cans or paper. This should be addressed urgently. Also it would help if a few bin liners were provided, in addition to the ones already in the bins.

Thank you for your positive feedback. We are delighted you enjoyed Lightkeepers cottage and your stay. We have a business waste contract with Dorset council and the only recycling they offer is a glass bin we would love to have more when it becomes available. Recycling can be taken to the Lyme bay offices. Property Owner

  • "Nice cottage, clean and comfortabl inside."

.However, severely let down by the unkempt garden (which we spent 2 hours removing the unsightly weeds from the rear garden area). Also difficult to park 2 larger vehicles on the front drive. But most off putting were the bins (right outside the front door) which we discovered were full of the previous occupants unbagged rubbish which stank and the bin was full of maggots! DISGUSTING.

The property does have a regular gardener, however at this time of year, and given the recent rainfall/hot weather, the foliage has great growing conditions. We have contacted the gardener to make him aware, and thank you for taking time out of your holiday to cut back the weeds. We would happily have organised to attend during your stay. • "We had a fantastic holiday at light keepers ."

Perfect size for 6 adults an 4 year old and twin babies. The only thing I would suggest is to let people know the Astro turf gets extremely hot in the sun and can burn children’s feet. So they need suitable footwear. Other than that we had a perfect holiday at the property. We looked after the home as if it were our own and left it in the condition as we found it. Many thanks.

  • "Great house and a good holiday."

A set of pans designed for the induction hob would be a great improvement along with cooking utensils that don't wreck nonstick pans, on already good house. Lack of recycling facilities for anything but glass. The rest of the street had wheelie bins for this.

The property was clean, or appeared to be so until we after a couple of days decided to clean the floor in the open plan area. We then found that even the areas we had not used were dirty. It would appear that floor had not been washed prior to our arrival.
