  • "We had a lovely stay."

Mr and Mrs Hobbs, the owners, were friendly and very welcoming. We enjoyed the large communal garden and local walks. Bude is a great little town. We spent time swimming in the sea pool, surfing off Summerleaze and Crooklets and shopping. The ice cream shop was awesome!

  • "We had a lovely stay at Lee Barton in The Stable for the week."

It’s in an idyllic setting, the surrounding views are breathtaking and it’s a lovely place to rest and enjoy the small things. This was our first holiday as a family of 3 and I will forever hold special memories of our stay. Hosts were lovely and friendly and were very accommodating to all needs. The one thing I would mention is the thickness of the duvet, we were exceptionally hot in the front bedroom (at night it was 25 degrees in there so warmer than outside) and we had a 15 tog duvet. We used the sheet for the first few nights because of how hot it was but when the weather cooled down the sheet was too cool. The hosts gave us blankets which kept us a nice temperature but having a thinner duvet for summertime would be really helpful. The bed was very comfortable other than the heat. Thanks for a truly lovely week. I loved waking to listening to the birds and cows, what a beautiful alarm clock. We hope to be back!

Thank you for your feedback. It was lovely to meet you .We are glad you had a lovely holiday. It would be great to see you again. Property Owner

We, plus dog, stay at Lee Barton 'Stables' cottage often and really enjoy the experience. The owners are very friendly and approachable. The cottage is perfectly located to many sites worth visiting in Bude and beyond, and is literally 5 mins from beach. The cottage itself is comfortable and well laid out. The whole experience is great value fir money too; will be coming again!

  • "We had a lovely week in the Stable, with a warm welcome from Jonathan to this very well equipped cottage, with comfy beds and everything you could need in the kitchen area."

It is in a very peaceful situation, so quiet at night, and plenty of shared garden spaces to find somewhere to sit and read. We were lucky to be there during the September heatwave and so could enjoy the local beaches. Sandymouth was our favourite, and it was quite an experience to swim in the Bude sea pool. For parkrunners, there is an excellent local one at Tamar Lakes, flat, one lap and very picturesque, all the good things!

Really pleased you enjoyed the cottage and your holiday, making good use of all the area has to offer. Property Owner

The property was exactly how it was described, it was comfortable and was a great base for us to explore north Cornwall. The only thing I would say is that it was such a shame there was no glass in the door or a window to the front as the view across the garden area was beautiful and only visible from the upstairs window. Overall we had a great stay even though the weather was not great. Would definitely recommend staying at Lee Barton farm.

The property itself is really well equipped - Everything you need for cooking! We were left some tea, coffee, milk and even some chocolate biscuits: a lovely gesture. The gardens were perfect for our children and our dog. The little play area with swings, kids tractor and sandpit were a nice little surprise too. We were greeted by the owner on the morning after our first nights stay. Really friendly and welcoming! Couldn’t fault it and will be looking to come back. ! Nice fresh white sheets & comfortable beds very clean throughout. This is the best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in (they have thought of everything)the cupboard is stacked with crockery so you can use the dishwasher without running out of anything. Cupboard under the stairs has two airers so great for drying beach gear/wetsuits etc... The grounds are beautiful & well kept lots of space for parking & play area for younger children. The Farmer was very nice & took us to see the cows as three had been born one that morning, We could also see one calf with its mum from where we were sitting at the picnic table outside the Stable that evening . A 10min drive takes you to the closest Beach Duckpool we had a bbq there one evening great little beach & 15/20min drive into Bude our favourite place in Cornwall!!! We will definitely book this property again & would recommend it 100% we didn't want to go home & wished we'd booked two weeks instead of one!! There was a jug of fresh milk in the fridge & some biscuits,Tea,Coffee,Sugar left for us on arrival much appreciated. Best places to eat & dog friendly are The Brendan Arms & The Olive Tree both in Bude. Only thing we could of done with was more Coat hangers for four of us other than that perfect. This property is a great find & we look forward to returning in the future.

Thank you for your lovely feedback and you found every thing you needed. So pleased you enjoyed the cottage and the area and had a great holiday. We will look into getting more coat hangers and we look forward to your return. Property Owner

Friendly and helpful owner. The cottage is quite basic, not super-luxurious, but then it's *very* inexpensive so value for money is right up there. The shower varied between hot and cold, and water pressure wasn't great upstairs - but given that it's a v rural location you just kinda accept these things - it's likely that water pressure for the whole area isn't great. Overall - really nice place to be based in for a week - not luxurious but clean and tidy and comfortable, we had a lovely week!

Excellent location. The owners were really friendly and were there if we needed them for any advice. Our two girls and puppy loved the gardens and although they were communal felt like we had it to ourselves. The cottage was immaculately clean. Beds super comfy. Only issue was that the couch was uncomfortable and would have benefited from a few comfy cushions. There was also a lot of condensation in the bathroom after we had a shower and a general feeling of damp air. Despite being summer it did feel cold and we sometimes needed to put the electric heaters on. Overall a fabulous holiday and we would definitely recommend.

It was quiet and comfortable and we were left with a jug of milk fresh from the cows. The farmer and his wife were very kind and helpful if we needed anything. I was very happy. I would mention that the wifi was a bit his and miss. The area is lovely and quiet, but the access road is quite narrow with few passing places. Having said that though, I think we only met a car coming the other way on two occasions. All in all, we would be very happy to recommend the development, and would love to return one day.

The beds were not too comfortable There were no towels In one of the rooms The oven did not work The lighting was a bit austere - lamps downstairs would have been good The cooking knives were all blunt There was only a little, very watered down, washing up liquid There were no bun bags for separating out the rubbish for recycling

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. The beds are actually new (in 2020) in The Stable. Towels are provided according to how many guests are booked at the property. In this case two sets of towels were included. The oven is also new and the manual is available in the kitchen drawer. The washing up liquid is Ecover and is refreshed for each new arrival (in self catering properties as 'starter amount' is provided as guests are expected to provide their own supplies thereafter). There is a signposted recycling area at the end of the drive where rubbish can be separated. The owner of The Stable welcomes each guest on arrival and encourages customers to get in touch if they have any queries at all - we are sorry to hear that you did not make contact to request assistance during your stay. About the location

BUDE

Tintagel 17 miles.

Kilkhampton is an historic Cornish village, 4 miles from the popular Victorian seaside resort of Bude, one of Cornwall’s premier holiday locations. With its old church, village shops and atmospheric village pubs, Kilkhampton is a lovely place to relax after a hard day exploring the stunning beaches and spectacular coastal scenery for which the area is famous. Bude’s beaches attract surfers from all over the country and when conditions are right you’d be hard pushed to find better surf. When the tide is out, miles of golden sand and hundreds of rock pools keep visitors occupied for hours. The South West Coast Path, and many other rights-of-way winding over the clifftops and through lush green fields looking out over the sea, make this area a haven for walkers and lovers of the open countryside. For those who prefer staying closer to home, a good shopping centre and a selection of pubs, two clubs and restaurants are on offer. Bude canal, a registered nature reserve, passes through the town, and rowing a boat along its calm waters or walking the towpath among the beautiful (and friendly) water fowl that live among the reeds is a great way to spend an hour or two. Within the area there are also 2 golf courses, an indoor swimming pool, bowling alley at the leisure centre. A perfect location for all that North Cornwall has to offer.
