"Lovely cottage, will definitely recommend."
The only issue is not having a stand up shower but definitely wouldn't let that stop me from booking again. Our 2 dogs loved it and plenty of grounds for them to go out. Lovely log fire and felt very cosy at night and was lovely and warm. Lovely welcome with flowers and chocolate biscuits. Was close to a local pub but beach not within walking distance (unless you like walking miles) but can drive and park by cafe on the beach which is amazing. There's also a couple of paths from village to beach. Both pubs dog friendly and coastal walks to Beer and Seaton. Sidmouth and Lyme Regis not far. Fabulous ♥️

"Thank you for letting us stay in your cottage."
We had a lovely stay in Branscombe and had many excellent walks. We particularly enjoyed walking to the beach and the Mason’s Arms. We were very happy in the cottage, the bedrooms were very nice and we loved our cosy evenings by the fire.

"The Pottery Barn is a great little place; this was my second week there and I had another peaceful and relaxing week."
The property is clean and comfy and the flowers and a couple of pints of milk in the fridge were a lovely welcome. If you’re looking for peace and quiet in a truly beautiful part of the world, this is the place to stay!!

"We weren't as happy with the property as we thought we would be."
The photos and descriptions are all very nice, but misleading at times. The front of the house looks idyllic, but the bench is no longer there and the front door not really for use as the owners park a car there. Although the rest of the garden is mainly secure, if you have a small dog it could get out under the gate, so you obviously have to be outside with your dog at all times. This should be pointed out. We also had a problem with the fridge where it wasn't getting cold enough which meant some of our food had to be thrown out. It seemed the back of the fridge had some polystyrene packaging behind it, when the motor should have had, of course, a good air flow. The owner did sort things out with it and although I thought some of the food at first was ok we later found it had gone off losing almost a tenner's worth. The TV was impossible to use even after 2 lessons on how to get simple programmes up with 2 remotes, we still could not fathom it out. It would be helpful if more instructions could be left. The ceilings upstairs are so low in places, I'm only short, but was forever banging my head, mainly because the power sockets were under the lowest of ceilings. Likewise in the bath it was impossible to have shower using the hand held shower due to the low ceiling. Although it was pointed out to us by the cleaning company that one of the Velux windows was broken and the owners were fixing it that week, it wasn't replaced or fixed and I somehow get the impression that it had been like that for some time. Unfortunately once you get a few problems with a property you tend to see more, like the small frying pan when the home is for 5 people possibly needing a fried breakfast! Also the outside seating that could do with renewing, one chair was broken. The owner did accidentally take our towel off the line and they weren't at home to retrieve it, but I'm grateful that he/she posted it on to us. We're also grateful for the lovely flowers which were a nice touch. The piece de resistance though was actually a smell that got worse and worse during the week in the lean-to. On our penultimate day we discovered that it was the food recycling bin. It was broken in several places, flies had got in, laid eggs and loads and loads of maggots were the cause of the smell. It made us feel so ill that we left an hour after discovering this. Not a good ending to the holiday. We don't feel the cost of the holiday is relative to our experience.

"Lovely as ever!"
Space, light, airy, quiet, lovely big garden We'll be there again next year
-
"The Pottery Barn is a lovely quiet barn conversion which we really enjoyed our time staying in."
But we found after a day or so that there were a few niggles underlying issues that could have been sorted fro example the kitchen cupboard doors were coming of their hinges due to wear, the velum window in one of the bedrooms was broken and needed to be fixed ( ongoing) The fridge condenser tray within the back of fridge was full of rotten decaying sludge making a very bad smell in the kitchen which we cleaned out due to the smell issues . We we worried about the scalding hot water temperature which is dangerous for children and the elderly. I’m sorry to point these item out as it seems we are moaning but we did have a lovely relaxing time but thought Dave and Nicky need to know the few issues found .
-
"Lovely week, fabulous place."
Thank you!
-
"Cottage was lovely, very comfortable with everything you need - grounds are superb for a dog and ours took full advantage of it every day."
Major negative is the road into Branscombe - 1 lane in and out - very narrow and if you have a bigger car be prepared to get it scratched on the hedgerow. You need to be able to reverse as for the week we stayed we had to reverse several times each time we left the cottage, on the way out onto the main road and the way back in.
-
"Beautiful cottage in a lovely location."
Would definitely recommend
-
"We had good stay."
Cosy cottage, great garden for dog. The only disappointment was not knowing beforehand that the lane from the cottage to the village was too narrow to walk a dog safely with passing traffic, so had to use the car always.
-
"The property was even better than the listing."
The inside of the property was comfortable and stylish. Beautiful large bedrooms. It was set in idyllic surroundings and in such a beautiful village within walking distance of the sea. The welcome flowers, milk, coffee and tea were appreciated. Ample parking for two cars. We enjoyed the covered space outside with the pretty lights and appreciated the BBQ and the log burner inside for the chilly evenings. The owners were very friendly and told us about the wildlife and flowers in the surrounding space, which was beautifully kept and was free for us to roam. Lovely extra touches everywhere including a heart stone on slate at the door. A beautiful friendly red setter who came to say hello and left. Thank you. We are already looking at returning. J.
-
"This is a lovely little barn conversion within walking distance of a quaint pub and close to Branscombe Beach."
We have been twice now. There are 2 downsides worth flagging however. The driveway is narrow so you may prefer to park in the owner's driveway instead. The sloping roofs upstairs can lead to a bit of head banging too....
-
"This was our 3rd time at Pottery Barn and as usual it was superb in every way , very clean and well maintained , beautiful surroundings, can’t wait for our next visit ."
-
"Very happy with our winter break away."
Just the ticket for keeping away those January blues.
-
"Minor points:- Better kettle, and larger toaster."
BBC 1 on the TV has an immovable banner across the screen warning of an upgrade required by 8/1/24. Maybe more logs for the wood burning stove.
-
"A beautiful well equipped cottage in a lovely part of Devon."
-
"Perfect place in a beautiful setting."
Really cosy with the log burner in the winter.
-
"Great stay and a home from home."
A well equipped kitchen, and all amenities. We were only able to have one hot bath a day, before the hot water ran out but other than that it was a lovely stay. Thank you so much for sharing your fantastic property and making memories for our family.
-
"Pottery Barn is a lovely property in one of the most beautiful villages on the Jurassic Coast."
I was comfortable and cosy as a solo traveller and enjoyed the walk down to Branscombe Beach (about 35/40 mins) through the countryside each day. A very relaxing and peaceful stay.
-
"Very nice and clean cottage, would recommend to others."
-
"A most fabulous stay at Pottery barn."
Exceptionally clean . A nice welcome pack tea coffee biscuits ect.Even flowers on tables. We'll equipped kitchen. There are low ceilings in the bedroom as described on the site but this was not an issue you get used to them. The owners were very welcoming and sorted out minor details for us. Even lending my husband a baseball cap as he forgot his. Pottery barn is one of the best self catering properties I have stayed in. Good location beautiful chocolate box village. The gardens were large and well looked after. Ample parking. There were some facilities we didnt use for instant the washer and a barbecue. All in all definitely 5 stars from me
-
"What a beautiful cottage."
Location was spot on for visiting all the bay's along the coast of south Devon. We would go back to the cottage again. The gardens are lovely for the dogs to run and play. And it's so peaceful. And in the early hours we could hear the owls. The owners are very friendly. Thank you.
-
"Upstairs does has a sloping ceiling - but as described and you just have to mind your head."
Very happy with our stay.
-
"So sorry we brought the key home!"
When I was sweeping up the broom handle must have knocked it out of the door into the swim bag. We could not understand where it had gone! Waiting for comformation of address to which to send Hope you will still have us back next year!
-
"Beautiful location, lovely property, absolutely no complaints."
-
"It seems that the cottage was designed for looks not practicalities."
The bedroom with the ensuite was totally lacking in worktop space with nowhere to even put a toothbrush! It resulted in having to live out of a suitcase. The stairs were a hazard, maybe anti slip pads on them?
-
"This is our 2nd visit this year and plan to have a third later in the year."
-
"Lovely clean cottage"
-
"My second stay in a year - my dog and I enjoy it so much."
Yes the ceiling heights upstairs and lack of showers wouldn’t suit everyone, but I prefer baths and the odd bumped head is worth it to stay in such a lovely place. The cottage details make this very clear before booking. Owners are kind and helpful but not intrusive. Star of the show, however, is their dog Freddie - a true gentleman
-
"Amazing accommodation Clean, cosy, and well equipped"
-
"We were aware before hand that some people had had problems with the low ceiling upstairs!"
Short bath also a bit of a challenge. Maybe a shower room could be installed within the bedroom? Good position near the ‘Fountain Head’ pub, lovely walks for us, plus our black lab! Big garden, also appreciated by our dog!
-
"This property was absolutely beautiful!"
-
"Lovely cottage ."
It has everything needed to enjoy your break
-
"Beautiful barn conversion."
A really lovely break we had thankyou . Brenda
-
"Lovely Cottage very clean and owners were friendly, the stairs were dangers and would have been better with carpet, also beds and pillows did not have much support but it was a cosy cottage with a old pub within walking distant."
-
"Fantastic location and lovely warm comfortable cottage."
The garde was perfect for the dogs and we liked being able to walk to the local pub. We would have preferred stand up showers but could see why that wasn’t possible. We did some great walks from the door. Would definitely stay there again.
-
"Such a lovely tranquil little cottage in a beautiful unspoilt area."
The perfect place to relax and unwind. The cottage had everything we could need & the gardens were lovely, especially enjoyed by our dogs and safely enclosed. Lovely walks to the beach, tea room & cliffs. Would definitely recommend & hope to return.
-
"Loved Pottery Barn."
Loved the bedroom windows open to the sky, the birds, the deer, the bats, boules on the lawn, and of course Freddie. Will definitely stay again and enjoy the fun of the 6foot boys folding themselves into the baths! Abundance of hot water appreciated after days at the beach and the use of washing machine and clothes line. Lovely squishy settees and plenty of room around the table in the well appointed kitchen. Our hosts could not have been more helpful.
-
"Very comfortable barn/cottage for two people."
The setting was very quiet with a nice pub within a 7 minute walk. The owners were very welcoming and left us to get on with our holiday which we thoroughly enjoyed.
-
"A delightful little cottage, made welcome by Nicky & Dave (Freddie & Poppy)."
Very clean & all the home comforts. They do have a hairdryer which isn’t listed & would have been helpful to know. The bathrooms were a bit on the small side. Very peaceful setting with wonderful spacious gardens.
-
"Fantastic location for a quite relaxing holiday."
The cottage has everything you could wish for including a beautiful large secure garden that our dogs loved.
-
"I have stayed at a number of cottages over the years of attending Donkey Week at the Sanctuary and this is my favorite."
The setting was beautiful and the accommodations were clean and bright. Everything I needed was there and the peacefulness of the location was exactly what I needed

Fantastic cottage just let down by the bathrooms but they were exactly as listed and exactly as some of the reviews said
-
"Lovely place to stay enjoyed our week, owners were very nice and helpful."
Quiet, beautiful area. Lovely wood burner in open planned living area. Good facilities and access to garden. As the shower is in the bath, due to roof height and the double beds are very low it isn't suitable for some people but that is made clear in its description.
-
"We had a lovely stay at Pottery Barn."
We were made very welcome and the property was beautiful set in amazing grounds. We had everything we needed and look forward to a return visit.
-
"We really enjoyed our holiday, sadly we had to leave on Wednesday instead of Friday for unforeseen reasons."
While we were there we were comfortable and the views from our walks were breathtaking.
-
"Lovely cottage."
Very welcoming and homely. The owner was most pleasant and helpful and made us comfortable as soon as we arrived. Thank-you for a lovely week.
-
"We had a lovely holiday ."
Pottery Barn was good the only thing was the sloping ceilings upstairs of which you informed us. But a bit difficult for us not having a shower. The location was smashing so peaceful and easy to get to all the other places we love nearby.
-
"Lovely house, helpful housekeepers and friendly owners."
Beautiful garden, well situated and perfect for families or couples alike.
-
"A gem of a place in a stunning location."
-
"The cottage was lovely, very clean and comfortable."
It had everything we needed. The owners were great, very friendly. The garden was stunning.
-
"Peaceful location Equipped with everything you needed for a relaxing holiday."
Ceiling height in the bathrooms was a bit of an issue for the taller members of our group but one they soon adjusted to. Good pub a short stroll away- The Fountains Head Enjoyed the walk down to the beach every evening- downhill all the way and a challenge walking back but loved it.
-
"Lovely location and nice spacious bedrooms"
-
"Very cosy cottage & great location!"
Christmas decorations were most welcome
-
"The low ceilings in the bathrooms took some getting used to."
-
"The bathroom facilities were not suitable for elderly or infirm people due to a lack of head height , reduced length of bath, no grab handles and general lack of working space."
The staircase is fairly steep and therefore difficult to access. We also were unable to connect with the WiFi hub. Otherwise this is a very attractive cottage .

Considering the circumstances we felt very safe cottage was lovely owners were very nice and friendly as was Freddie the red setter overall a very pleasant stay wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this cottage
-
"Beautiful cottage - immaculately clean, with lovely grounds."
Had a few issues with the wifi but Dave and Nicky (the owners who live next door), couldn't have been more helpful. They also have two beautiful and friendly dogs who are always happy to say hello. The cottage is ideally situated as a base for days out, an is in walking distance of a couple of pubs (although if you want food I'd advise you to book in advance). There is even a local blacksmith who you can see in action in his thatched cottage, and there are a couple of paths to the beach if you prefer not to drive (a couple of miles). Despite the weather we had a great time as a family, and would be happy to return.
-
"Beautiful converted barn in a wonderful location."
extremely clean & felt very safe - lovely decoration I will be back
-
"Warm, welcoming and comfortable cottage."
Perfect location for exploring the Devon coast line. Would recommend this cottage without hesitation.
-
"It would be good to have a freezer in the property,as there is no shop in Branscombe."
Also, the cottage should have its own private space outside,as the owners had 3 large dogs running around, which was off putting to us and our dogs.
-
"The Pottery Barn is delightful."
I find it hard to know where to begin with my praise. Decor, furniture, furnishings, cooking equipment and utensil, all exceeded my expectations. The beds are very comfortable. The heating very good so no need to use the log burner. The extra little touches like the illuminated ornaments, etc are very attractive. Fresh flowers, scones, jam and cream etc. were very welcoming. Well done Sykes.
-
"Lovely converted barn and great green field for dogs to run around in quiet beautiful Branscombe."
Good communication from caretaker of property. Loved this little gem.
-
"Firstly the Pottery Barn was lovely, it was in a beautiful location with a large well kept garden."
The barn had a nice conservatory and you could sit outside in a sheltered/roofed area if you wanted a break from the sun or you could sun yourself on the lounger or patio table and chairs. The nearest pub was about a ten minute slightly downhill walk serving lovely food. Branscombe itself was lovely with a nice 3/4 mile walk to the beach. We had a wonderful time at the Pottery Barn and of seeing the sights of Devon and would recommend it to all. The owner's of the Pottery Barn were delightful. Pam and Jim White.
-
"Pottery Barn was just what we were hoping for."
A lovely cosy comfortable quiet retreat with a beautiful garden and lots of great walks too. Our dogs loved it. The only downsides if we were being picky are the lack of head room for the toilets if you are a tall man!! And no freezer. Perhaps a small freezer in the laundry room would suffice. The owners who live next door are very friendly and helpful. The nearby pub serves excellent food. All in all we had a fabulous holiday in a wonderful cottage and location. We hope to return soon!
-
"The barn is located a 2 mile walk from Branscombe Beach."
The accommodation is comfortable although the bedroom and bathroom areas on the first floor are challenging with low sloping ceilings. There is no private fenced off garden space as the barn sits within the owner’s garden.
-
"A lovely barn conversation in a quaint village with great walks - hosts were lovely too."
Nice coastal path to the beach and a couple of pubs serving food. If your looking for a peaceful, relaxing break then an ideal place to stay.
-
"Wonderfully tranquil setting."
Hosts most welcoming.
-
"It's a lovely cottage and there's lots to do, especially the coast path if you like walking and looking at spectacular views."
My only niggle was the lack of freezer, but we actually managed very well without it.
-
"Bathrooms are very small and not able to stand in bath to shower you have to sit ..."
Bathrooms are very small and not able to stand in bath to shower you have to sit down due to sloping roof and to use the toilet if you are a male
Many thanks for your feedback, we take feedback very seriously and we will take on board your review - If you require anything further, please do not hesitate to get in touch Property Owner
-
"Fantastically clean & well presented cottage."
Wood-burner provided lovely cosy evenings, but we struggled to work out the timer settings on the central heating (could have done with coming on downstairs earlier for these colder winter nights). Beautiful setting, but remember you have no mobile reception. Wouldn't hesitate to use again. Great value.
-
"Our holiday at Pottery Barn was one of the best holidays we have had yet and so memorable."
The accommodation was fabulous - luxurious, comfortable and homely. The position of the barn was just perfect for unwinding from the stresses of working life. Be assured of a very warm welcome from the hosts - and their two dogs. Nothing was too much trouble and the extra touches such as fresh flowers and scones and clotted cream were just the icing on the cake. There were some quirks that made living in a converted barn fun. Holidays are all about new experiences - you soon get used to ducking! LOL! A mobile signal was..........rare. However, that also proved to be a bonus too - nobody could reach us. There is Wi-Fi if there is an emergency though. If you are thinking of booking this property - do it! You won't regret it! I would return tomorrow if I had the chance. We can heartily recommend the pub a short walk away - The Fountain Head. It was very welcoming and the food was fabulous. Dogs are welcome there too. It's been years since I've been in such an original 'pub' like that. So glad we booked this accommodation and made such wonderful memories. Thank you!
-
"We were given the wrong code of the key safe, arrived 6:15pm couldn't get in owners next door were out, no mobile signal, after trying different combinations of the number given drove down to the pub about half a mile away to see if they had wifi, they didn't."
They knew the caretakers father so phoned him, the caretaker then phoned the pub back and gave me a completely different code for the key safe. We can't thank the pub landlord enough for the help he gave us. Eventually got in the property after 8pm. Also the road through the village was closed and the email telling us of this was not sent until just before we arrived. I have a phone that just makes phone calls. I did have my tablet with me but there was no hotspots around so couldn't use it until we were in the cottage. The caretaker did leave us a bottle of wine the following day. There was no freezer in the property and as the nearest decent shop was a 25 min drive away it would have made life easier to have a freezer or even a fridge with a freezer compartment. The bathrooms were built into the eves and it was difficult to use the loo without banging your head.
-
"A very pleasant cottage, beautifully prepared for our arrival."
We did find ourselves bumping our heads rather upstairs where the ceiling sloped just over the beds and the slope was a bit of a problem in the bathrooms! But, being a converted barn, it was probably inevitable that this would feature. Perhaps particular refence to this ought to be in the description of the place just to warn taller people of the fact. But other than this we found the facilities ok, and the outlook and surrounding garden very pleasant. We would recommend it.

Lovely cottage well equipped and comfortable, home from home Very peaceful and lovely surroundings Warm welcome by owners ,very helpful and friendly Excellent walks from the door to the coast beautiful area also 899 bus on doorstep to Sidmouth,Beer and Seaton Would recommend it
-
"The barn is outstanding with the added advantage of very friendly and helpful on site caretaker and owners."
Sykes description was 100% accurate and it was a bonus to have such wonderful grounds for the dog to enjoy. We will certainly return.
-
"Lovely location, very quiet lovely big garden except it’s not Secure but this was fine we went out with our small dogs on leads ,owners and dogs very friendly ."
Everything you need in a kitchen and we was greeted with flowers, scones, jam and cream which was a lovely touch.Barn was lovely the only thing that could improve the Property would be a shower as waiting for four adults to have a bath in a morning was time consuming lol especially when our two daughters have long hair .lovely holiday
-
"A well stocked and kitted out cottage."
The space and grounds were excellent. Needs a freezer, especially for longer stays but otherwise excellent!
-
"Lovely location, very comfortable ."
Greeted by Nicky the owner. Had a cream tea on arrival and Milk in the fridge. Coffee, tea and Hot chocolate for us to use. What more could you wish for. Both Nicky and David were absolutely lovely, any problems they would sort them.Great holiday.

We had a lovely time in Devon. Will be recommending the property to others.

"It was maybe just a little difficult to access the property in a vehicle, I."
