  • "The property was spotlessly clean, some of the kitchen utensils could do with being replaced, one of the knives the blade came out of the handle when used and the roasting tin was marked and rusty."

The beds were comfy and the property was a very good size and it was very quiet considering the pub was only a few feet away from us. Would definitely recommend this property and the park to friends. The indoor pool was also very clean and the water temperature was perfect.

  • "The beds were extremely uncomfortable and I actually ended up in a lot of pain from half way through the first night which then obviously effected the rest of our holiday and resulted in us leaving a night early , no where on your advertisement was it clear that the few things there were for kids to do were not included in the price for a holiday that cost just short of £1000 there was little to do on half the days the restaurant isn’t open or opens to late and can’t even get a breakfast , there was no evening entertainment at all and for the price i didn’t expect check in to be so late especially when you want people out by 10 so your really paying £1000 for only two days with nothing to do except swim ."

I was so excited when reading about this place but have been very disappointed as have my kids , we are not hard to please but we have been other places and even the basic camp sites we have stayed at had more to offer at a fraction of the price

We are so sorry to hear that your stay at Manorcombe 2 was not to your satisfaction and did not meet with your expectations, as ensuring we give our guests the best possible holiday experience is of the utmost importance to us. With regard to the beds, accepting comfort is a personal preference, they are of hotel quality thus ensuring full compliance. Honicombe Manor is an independent, leafy holiday site set deep in the Tamar Valley in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Our letting agents site describes the onsite facilities available as, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, gym and tennis courts in addition to this, there are equipped children's play park areas. As we subscribe to these leisure facilities they are available to our guests at no additional cost. The tennis courts attract a refundable deposit and a small charge to hire rackets if guests prefer not to bring their own. The games room states some charges apply on our letting agents site. The onsite Honicombe Arms Pub [no times stated on letting agent site] is open from 12 noon until the evening daily in high season and varying times in the lower seasons. There is entertainment provided on some nights throughout the year, however, we do not specify this on our letting agents site as dates and times vary. With regard to the cost of your holiday, we do not currently offer short term breaks during the high season, therefore the cost would have reflected a seven night stay, which of course you would have been entitled to have, should you have opted to do so. The check out time of 10am is consistent with many national holiday sites and the check in time of 4pm is a standard time as this allows for our housekeepers to do the turnaround on changeover days. As your booking was a weekday arrival and should you have contacted our letting agents prior to arrival, we would have been happy to have arranged for an earlier check in time for you. Fortunately, with the majority of our bookings, our guests leave the property in a very acceptable manner. Unfortunately our housekeeper forwarded us a photo which did not reflect this following your stay. We hope this provides you with a better understanding With kind regards and best wishes The Allen Family Property Owner

  • "As previous comments have noted it is in desperate need of new mattresses particularly the double divan."

It was clean homely and had fabulous facilities both in the bungalow and on the site.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed the property and the facilities on site. The double bed is a hotel quality bed and is less than a year old, so really quite new. As we know beds are a matter of preference, so perhaps not the same as your bed at home. Property Owner

  • "The chalet was extremely clean and comfortable, both bathroom and toilets were spotless."

The bedrooms were all to a high standard, there were plenty of lights and plug sockets. There was always plenty of hot water when you need it. The holiday park was in the most beautiful setting. The owners were always friendly, and very welcoming, and they allowed well behaved dogs into the pub/restaurant which was a big bonus for me. There are 2 swimming pools, tennis courts and children's play areas, with a huge park to walk your dog around. I would definitely recommend this holiday chalet and park.

The tea coffee biscuits cream tea dish cloths etc were a welcome surprise. My only criticism would be that the mattress was old and bumpy with very noisy springs so not that comfy. Otherwise it was a great holiday.

  • "We always go camping, so this was a real change for us."

We hugely appreciated arriving to find scones, clotted cream and jam and enough supplies for a few rounds of tea and coffee! The cottage was lovely and clean (it had clearly been totally disinfected prior to our arrival), and the kitchen was well equipped. We appreciated the fact that with Covid 19 the staff wanted to ensure that everyone had at least two swims guaranteed - and we booked these in as soon as we arrived. We had the outdoor pool to ourselves and shared the (quite large) indoor pool with one other family, with a rope separating us. The staff at the bar and the restaurant were really welcoming and friendly. All in all, it was a really lovely stay - a real treat for us as a family! Many thanks.

  • "We were pleased overall."

Three issues that need to be addressed. Key safe was hard to use, takes several goes to release. Bathroom window won't open so gets damp in the property, very little pressure in bathroom basin tap.

  • "Very disappointed with the cleanliness throughout."

The beds were so hard we went home early with bad backs. The DVD player didn’t work and struggled to get hot water to come out at any pressure. The lodge needs a total revamp with new beds and a regular clean not just a quick flip through. Perhaps we expect to much but the add information doesn’t make you think it’s going to be dirty with really hard beds.

the guttering at the rear is leaking severely. despite previous reviews stating the same, nothing has been done about the uncomfortable beds which is a shame. the swimming pool facility and games room was great for the children and it was handy having a restaurant on site too.

About the location

CALLINGTON

Tavistock 9 miles; Launceston 11.5 miles; Plymouth 14.6 miles.

Callington is a Cornish market town, rich in mining heritage and overlooked by Kit Hill, the highest point in the area, donated to the people of Cornwall by Prince Charles to celebrate the birth of Prince William. From the top of Kit Hill there are fabulous views across south-east Cornwall as far as Plymouth Sound. Callington is set in the heart of the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and offers a good selection of shops, inns and cafes, as well as being the home of Ginsters Cornish pasties. A few miles away, the quaint village of Calstock clings to the steep banks of the river Tamar and is dominated by the splendid Calstock Railway Viaduct, a giant 11-arched stone construction supporting one of Britain’s most picturesque branch lines running through the Tamar Valley. Other interesting places along the river are Cotehele, a beautiful historic house and gardens owned by the National Trust with a small quay and inn, and Morwhellam Quay, a theme park that staged a living history production for the BBC and where visitors can explore the rich mining heritage and watch blacksmiths, potters and craftsmen at work. The pannier market town of Tavistock is only nine miles from Callington and is well worth a visit on your way to a day’s walk on Dartmoor. A splendid base to explore south Cornwall and West Devon.
