"Fab property in a beautiful environment."
-
"Fantastic property and host great welcome and everything you need would recommend"
-
"We both loved everything about the property , Only one thing could have made it perfect , would have liked to have the smaller bedroom window to have had an opening feature."
Otherwise everything was great .

"We had a lovely stay here and were sorry to leave at the end of our holiday."
The cottage was comfortable, beautifully furnished and had everything we could need. Surrounding area is lovely and there is great walking and cycling straight from the doorstep. We are hoping to come again soon.

"What a wonderful stay at the BoltHole."
Very peaceful, clean, comfy beds and loved the private walled garden. Some of the prettiest cottages in Throwleigh and most speactacular scenery.all around the area. Particularly the ancient path road just above us the Throwleigh, and wild swimming in Shilley Pool. The cake was indeed delicious and along with other treats so generous and welcoming. Had many a fun evening in the pub garden opposite and sampled Simones delicious cooking, fish caught from their boat and lamb shanks. Most unusual pub (check out the weather cock) but so welcoming! Thankyou for a most memorable stay xxx

"We had a fantastic stay at the Bolthole."
The cottage is super comfortable, clean and really well equipped. We didn’t miss anything from home. The location is perfect to explore the surrounding villages and for walks in the moor. Places further afield in the National Park are also easily accessible. We’ll definitely return in the future.

"The Bolthole is the perfect holiday place to relax nice garden to sit have a drink and read plenty of room comfortable beds best sleep I have had for a long time and nice treats on arrival, but there's is always a but coming off the A382 to the house is a 3 miles one track road with bends and bumpy roads and very little space to pass we had a Waitrose van coming towards us had to reverse for 50 yards for it to pass with about one each to spare the Bolt Hole has a steep climb plus a 3 inch kerb to get over not good for your front tyres."
Had a word with Simone who runs the pub just yard's away Very handy for a drink to park in the pub car park which was ok but 22 steps to climb up and down the Bolt Hole is lovely if you like a walking holidays and leave the car for a week unfortunately we are not walkers and need to see Devon at its best I still would recommend the Bolt Hole for a relaxing holiday apart from some of the faults I mentioned.Holiday date in June 24 th .

"Bolthole Cottage is a 5 star delight on the edge of Dartmoor."
-
"Beautiful stunning place to stay."
Very quiet get away from it all type of holiday. Honestly couldn't fault it. The bed was so comfortable better than mine at home. All the little extras really made it and the homemade chocolate cake was the best I have ever tasted, so moist. Would highly recommend and will certainly be back.
Thank you for taking the time to provide your kind feedback,it makes it all worthwhile to know that guests have a great time Property Owner

"The bolthole is fantastic, set in beautiful surroundings."
The cottage is just stunning, with everything catered for. Dartmoor took our breath away, and we're definitely coming back. We couldn't fault the cottage at all, and communication with the owner, was brilliant. Just take it very easy when coming down the drive, as you'll hit your front bumper on the road, if you go to fast.
Thank you for your feedback,it’s a lovely feeling to know that guests enjoy their stay Property Owner

"Lovely comfortable cottage, well converted and well fitted out."
A rural location but not isolated, and ideal for walks from the house or for going further afield. A problem getting internet access was sorted out quickly. Highly recommended
-
"Had a lovely few days at the bolthole, the cottage was spotless and the little touches that the owner left made it very special."
Prosecco, beers, homemade cake and chocolates as well as milk and all essentials, we really didn't need to take anything. An enjoyable stay in the lovely Devon countryside, would definitely recommend

"Really enjoyed our short stay at the Bolt Hole."
The barn conversion Is been very well presented and equipped. Many thanks for the little treats on arrival, very thoughtful and a lovely touch. Can highly recommend.
-
"The Bolthole was a fantastic home from home that we loved."
It’s well equipped, well maintained and the attention to detail is second to none. It was lovely to have cake, boxes of chocolates and flowers left for us on arrival. We would highly recommend staying here! The only minor issue we had is I had a low riding car so the country roads and the driveway was a little difficult but not impossible. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay here!
-
"A delightful, compact little barn conversion with all the comforts of home."
Light and sunny in the summer and - I can imagine - the perfect, cosy little winter retreat. Ideally positioned in the heart of Dartmoor, surrounded by the most beautiful scenery, within easy reach of a host of famous beauty spots and just 10 yards from a “proper” country pub. It’s a 12/10 from us. What’s not to love?
-
"Lovely property in a beautiful part of Devon - surrounded by single track lanes so be prepared for reversing to passing places!"
Ideally situated for walks around Dartmoor or visiting Exeter. We arrived to a homebaked cake, prosecco & orange juice which went down very well & as we stayed over Easter, the owner had also left Easter eggs which were greatly appreciated by the children (& the adults when we managed to sneak some). The cottage is well equiped & there's a small garden to sit out in & cook on the bbq . Can't wait to come back again!
-
"The extra touches that were in the cottage on arrival were amazing."
We had Xmas presents under the tree, wine, lager chocolate, sweets and cake were so thoughtful it really made a difference to our stay.
-
"Very comfortable accommodation, clean and pleasant to be in."
Owner contacted us by email soon after we arrived to ensure everything was ok. Close to Dartmoor national park, good walking area.
-
"Great stay at The Bolt Hole - Chris went above and beyond with all the extra touches, and was on hand to help when we couldn't get the water to work!"
Lots of walking, resting and relaxation. Some great options for dining in the evening in nearby Moretonhampstead (The Gateway and Bertos were excellent) and while you're there check out Penny Simpson's ceramics studio. We'd definitely return!

"Fantastic location for walking and exploring Dartmoor."
Cottage was wonderful, just what was needed to return to whilst on holiday.

"We absolutely loved our stay at the Bolthole."
The cottage has everything you could need for a week away. The kitchen is very well equipped, the rooms are spacious, the bathroom is luxurious with a huge bath and there is a BBQ in the lovely garden that gets sunshine all day. The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and the host had left us lots of little treats, including prossecco, sweets for the kids, a gorgeous homemade cake and some chocolates. She really has thought of everything. And the fire/log burner is perfect after a day out rambling, it throws out lots of heat and is very easy to use/light. You are a short drive away from some of dartmoor's loveliest walks (Postbridge and Dartmeet were very good) and a slightly further drive of about 45 minutes gets you to South Devon's beaches. We had such a good time and hope to be back soon.
-
"The immediate issue was bluebottle flies in the cottage, the owners must be aware as there was fly spray and a fly swatter, in the week we must of killed over a 100."
I know it's next to a farm but I have never had a similar issue. The cottage was over priced compared to the next door with 3 bedrooms all onsuite. The king size bed we slept on gave us both bad backs. The owner took a 5 days to reply to my voice message. I wouldn't stop there again.
Thank you for your feedback which we always welcome. Had you mentioned the flies when I emailed you during your stay, to check that everything was ok, I would have explained that the flies, (unfortunately worse this year), are farm flies, a result of cows being farmed. Keeping the doors closed is the best way to stop them entering the property. Apologises for the slight delay in replying to your messages, unfortunately my phone was not sending these through properly, however you did receive the welcome email I send to all my guests. "The property was in a perfect place for exploring Devon & we arrived to find a lovely homemade cake & other various treats which went way over expectations."
There was a pub opposite the property which was only open on the day we arrived , it was such a shame it didn’t open again as we were hoping to eat there after a busy day out. I would highly recommend staying at this property & I wouldn’t hesitate to book there again.

"Just had a fab week in The Bolt Hole."
The cottage is gorgeous, clean, comfortable, warm like a home from home. Thank you for all the extra treats homemade cake, milk, wine, chocolates, beer, orange juice. Great location to explore Devon. The night sky is really dark so excellent for stargazing. We saw the Spacex chain of Starlink satellites go over which was amazing. Definitely recommend a stay here if you like rolling countryside and a quiet location.

"Bolthole was absolutely beautiful, really clean immaculate inside a real treat to visit , Christine the owner left a lovely welcoming pack including a homemade cake that was delicious and even emailed us for our preference of milk prior and while we were there to make sure all was ok, recommend the Bolthole to all and hopefully shall visit again when the pub is open 10 out of 10 thank you Christine."

"This cottage is beautiful and relaxing."
Such a lovely place to stay and very peaceful. Its very well maintained and clean. Lots of walking right outside your door. Unfortunately we couldn't meet the owner due to the current situation but was always available via email and all the little welcoming gifts were a lovely touch. Will return hopefully soon.

"Just enjoyed a fabulous week at the bolthole."
On arrival we were welcomed with a home baked cake, beer and prosecco in the fridge and a bottle of milk (the owner had contacted us previously to ask which milk we preferred!) The layout is very good with an open plan living and dining area with an amazing log burner for the colder nights. There is a back door leading to a nice garden with table and chairs, that we managed to use a couple of times - not expected for mid October. There are 2 good sized bedrooms and a new modern bathroom. Both bedrooms have a skylight - giving an amazing view of the starry sky on a clear night. The bed was probably the most comfortable we have had. The owner has left so many 'little touches' to make this place a 'home from home' and is short of nothing. The cottage is the middle of 3 and parking can be awkward at the top of a steep drive, if this is too difficult, you could park on the Pub car park and use the steps down to the cottage. If you need a local pub, The Northmore Arms is approx 20 yards away! A very old style local with good beers and beer garden. Chagford, the nearest town with shopping facilities is only 2.5 miles away and has some lovely shops, cafes and pubs. Please bear in mind that this is rural Devon and access to most places is by narrow track roads where passing places are minimal. just be prepared for a bit of 'give and take'. A great little place with walking access onto the west of Dartmoor. We used it as base to reach the south coast areas that were within an hours ride. Luckily we had good weather making our stay even more enjoyable.

"The Bolt Hole was a wonderful place for a few days holiday."
It was spotlessly clean, warm and quiet even though next door to the pub - which by the way do fantastic fish and chips. We were left no end of little gifts around the house when we arrived to make us feel special, the beds were comfortable and if you wake at night for a wee make sure you stare out of the Skylight window in the bedroom for an uninterrupted view of the stars. I even saw 3 shooting stars one night. All in all a wonderful stay and I have no doubt we'll return to wear ourselves out walking the Moors again. Thank you one and all.
-
"We should have been warned that to get to the Bolthole , you had to drive up a single track road for at least 2 miles , with hardly any passing places."
The parking was awful, you had to go up a very steep drive and because the road was so narrow , you couldn't get a run at it and we had a dreadful job to get up the drive. When we managed to get up the drive there was barely space to turn the car round and when we managed it there we large rocks we had to avoid, not satisfactory parking at all. The underfloor heating was okay until Monday and then we had no heating in the bedroom or bathroom and downstairs it wasn't warm enough. We decided to go home on Wednesday morning because we were so fed up with the drive and road to the Bolthole. We have had problems with parking at a couple of you properties but this was dreadful.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. Please accept our apologies for the difficulties you experienced with the drive/parking, we were surprised about this, as we have not received complaints in the past. With regard to the underfloor heating, there is an instruction booklet in the property, alternatively we would have been happy to help if you had contacted us on the telephone number given. "The Bolthole is a lovely, well equipped and comfortable cottage with a welcoming atmosphere, set in a beautiful part of Devon."
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
-
"The cottage was very clean and comfortable."
Christine had left some welcome extras ! A bottle of prosecco, chocolates homemade cake and fruit. She even rang us beforehand to ask what type of milk we liked. The area around is great for walking along country lanes and footpaths. The added bonus was the Norhmore Arms next door with a really friendly landlord. A real "bolthole" which we greatly appreciated after 6 months without any holiday!
-
"It is tempting to say 'do not go' to try to keep this lovely cottage in an idyllic location to ourselves."
Wonson is not a place for people who want to be among hustle and bustle or for people who do not like hills. It is a place for those who like to be in a very comfortable cottage right by a superb and friendly albeit basic pub in a quiet, remote setting. The welcoming preparations deserve positive mention too.
-
"A very comfortable cottage."
Well equipped. Extra large beds. Owner made us very welcome with flowers and a home made cake. The roads to reach the cottage are narrow and the cottage is very close to the pub, almost in its rear garden. For some this could be a definite advantage! We had a great week in this beautiful area.
Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback following your recent stay at The Bolthole, we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit to the West Country. The narrow lanes are part of Dartmoor's character and form part of the county's charm, they are of course not specific to this property! We do list on the property description that the pub is located alongside the property, no possibility of drink driving here!! Property Owner

"All great. Chris has wonderful attention to detail and makes the guest feel really looked after."
Homemade cake, welcome chocs and bubbly etc all really nice touches. Cottage spotlessly clean. Thank you.
-
"The Bolt Hole was superb, everything we expected and more."
The owner couldn't have done anymore to prepare for us. The little touches like cake, chocolate for us and the kids, and the bubbly were fantastic, plus the personalised robes and slippers. The location is beautiful with fantastic walks on the doorstep.
-
"The Bolt Hole was fantastic."
Comfortable, well-equipped with a very high standard of facilities. The welcome was lovely with lots of thoughtful touches which make all the difference - from a delicious home-made fruit cake to milk, tea, coffee and, as it was Christmas, a tree with some little gifts underneath it, crackers and trays in the bedrooms with fruit and bucks fizz/fruit juice. We had a great stay and didn't want to leave! Thank you :-)

"Just such a lovely place with lots of thoughtful touches from the iwners."
-
"A beautiful cottage with everything we could need and spotlessly clean."
The owner, Christine, had left welcome gifts of homemade cake, fruit, chocolates - it was a lovely surprise. We had very nice contact with her too - nothing too much trouble. We would highly recommend The Bolthole for a quiet, away-from-it-all holiday.
-
"The Bolthole was absolutely beautiful."
The added extras really made it feel like luxury - there was a homemade cake on the table at arrival, milk in the fridge, logs for the log burner, toiletries and even robes and slippers! All absolutely beautiful and really made the difference. Will be back :)
-
