"We enjoyed our stay at the Music Room."
It was very clean and well equipped. The owners were very friendly. However it was more remote than we would have liked up small winding rooms with passing places. We like to be able to walk to pubs/shops in a village but didn't feel we could do this as wouldn't be comfortable walking on such small roads. There were footpaths but these we believe were over fields.

"We loved staying in the Music Room."
A beautiful and quiet setting and a very unique building. I loved practicing on the Grand Piano, it was a real treat. We had everything we could want and our hosts were lovely, friendly and helpful.

"We had a very relaxing and enjoyable break, staying at the music room."
We were made welcome by the owners who couldn’t have been more helpful. The location is excellent for exploring the Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Plymouth areas. The facilities are excellent. The CH worked well and we were able to cook meals properly and enjoy a good, freshly brewed coffee afterwards in front of the log burner; very cozy. The shower in the bathroom was really good too. It is a beautiful, well maintained property and discovering that it had once been a chapel explained its very high ceiling and wonderful partial stained glass windows complete with shutters; I would imagine it would stay cool even on the hottest summer’s days. Because the satnav didn’t accurately take us to The Music Room, we thought about adding ‘what3words’ but perhaps this is something Nick might consider doing for n the future.

"A romantic stay for our wedding anniversary."
This is a beautiful place to stay and a great location. We were made to feel really welcome and highly recommend staying here.

"A unique place to stay in beautiful countryside"
-
"Would definitely recommend."
Perfect for a relaxing stay in the countryside.
-
"This is a very unusual accommodation."
For a holiday with a musical theme "The Music Room" has wonderful acoustic values. Its great for singing, instrument playing and voice projection, the only drawback is that the piano needs some TLC

"We had a marvellous week in the Music Room."
After exploring this beautiful area of Devon each day, it was lovely to return to this property. It somehow managed to be spacious, airy and cosy all at the same time! We will be returning in the future to enjoy it some more. Thank you to Jo and Nick who made us feel very welcome.

"Could not say enough just how much we enjoyed relaxing in the music room and the surrounding area, so quite and peaceful, and all those we met very friendly and welcoming."
Unfortunately I suffer from a bad back, and no matter where I might stay, always have trouble with the beds, but once I placed the mattress on the floor, as the bed frame is rather dipping into the middle, found this helpful.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, we're pleased you enjoyed your stay in The Music Room. We're sorry to hear that you did not find the bed comfortable, and have now purchased a brand-new super-king-sized four poster bed, as can be seen in the photographs of the property. Property Owner

"An extremly nice place to spend a holiday."
-
"We stayed at the music and it was beautiful."
Even though we didn’t have electricity or water for the first 27 hours due to a storm the owners were fantastic. They helped in every way possible and truly are lovely people and we couldn’t of asked for anything more. It’s a beautiful place and would highly recommend.
-
"Excellent accommodation."
Warm, clean and very comfortable. The owners could not be more helpful. Take care on the paths if you go in autumn, the leaves make them slippery.
-
"The place was immaculate and so spacious the area was very peaceful and so relaxing."
The owners was so welcoming and we will definitely recommend this place to stay.
-
"The music room is fantastic."
Comfortable. Very quiet. Wonderful log fire and comfortable furnishings. The piano was a real treat. Wonderful people with a great welcome.

"Only issue would be some improvement to the track to the property."
We were disturbed by builders and machinery early in the mornings from the property next door, but i guess that no-one can predict that.
Thank you for taking the time to write feedback. The owner was aware of the building work going on but had come to an agreement which was unfortunately breached and assured there will be no further disturbance. I'm sorry that this disrupted your holiday. Property Owner

"Had a lovely time ."
Beautiful surroundings, weather disappointing but can't be helped . Would love to return soon.
-
"Such a brilliant and unique place to stay."
....even though it rained for 6 out of the 7 days we were there. We had everything we needed and enjoyed the peace and tranquillity. Lovely grounds, many animals and very nice hosts.
-
"The accommodation was lovely although care had to be taken with the stage steps to the bedroom area."
Furniture a bit uncomfortable. Bathroom door wouldn't close completely. Quite a tortuous lane to negotiate daily and we found we were too isolated. A lovely idea but not practical for us.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback following your stay at The Music Room. Since your stay the owners have had a new set of wide-stepped stairs made, and have fitted a catch to the bathroom door. They've tested the furniture and have confirmed it is still comfy. Property Owner

"Spacious and quirky accomodation."
Unique and memorable. Well equipt with evening highlight being able to watch a film on the projector. Well equipt kitchenette area and super clean. Lovely location on farm surrounded by fields and very quiet. Please note this is a very rural area and away from the village.

"The Music Room was an absolutely brilliant place to stay for a long weekend away."
We had a warm welcome and the space is gorgeous. The rain and wind were quickly forgotten when we returned from the coastal path, started the fire, poured a glass of wine and watched a movie on the projector.

"We very much enjoyed our stay, the journey down to Devon was as expected on a Friday; heavy traffic!"
On reaching our destination we were pleased to find our accommodation was more than welcoming: opening the door to a very spacious room with fresh flowers and a cream tea waiting to be enjoyed. We were given a lovely welcome from the owner and were aware that if we needed to ask about anything, she was available to help. The room was beautiful, we were given amazing cooking facilities and we were warm and cosy with background radiators lifting any September chill. It was good to know that the smallholding is being run using all things natural. Thank you for a lovely break

"The location was great."
The room was fantastic. The weather was brilliant. The people were lovely. Eating out was exceptional. My wife absolutely loved it. Will definitely return here. The coast around us was breathtaking. Highly recommend.

"For us, The Music Room was probably the most beautiful and unique accommodation that we have stayed in and Jo and Nick the perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them and we were made very welcome."
We gather that the building itself was originally converted to a music room in the 19th century and Jo and Nick have restored and furnished it beautifully. The grounds that it is set in are also stunning and we were encouraged to explore freely and enjoyed meeting their flock of sheep and walking the public foot paths that run through the property. It is an ideal location from which to discover the surrounding inland and coastal villages, towns and resorts but still have total tranquility and to truly hear the birds sing. We highly recommend The Music Room and intend to return in the future.

"The whole experience at Chantry was wonderful."
The owners were extremely friendly and helpful in every way. The beauty of surroundings and the facilities of the cottage combined to make a most enjoyable experience.
-
"An amazing room and location."
Expensive but the unique nature of the space, friendly hosts and excellent facilities certainly make it worthwhile. Perfect for a quiet getaway.
-
"The Music Room was amazing!"
Nick and Jo are great hosts, very friendly and have set up the most comfortable and romantic place. Location is nice and secluded but still easy enough to get to places like Salcombe and Hope Cove within 20 mins by car. The weather wasn’t the best but the log fire, deep couch and projector for movies more than made up for it on a rainy night.
-
"A wonderful place for a relaxing break."
Would thoroughly recommend.
-
"The music room has been by far the most interesting place to stay and the most beautiful set within a courtyard."
We can’t praise Jo and Nick enough a delightful couple. The welcome pack and flowers were a very generous treat, not always given at other places we have stayed and usually only consists of a pint of milk. We would love to return to the music room, hopefully soon.

The property
The Music Room is a very special conversion of a Grade II listed property.
Once recitals and concerts resonated around the lofty ceiling now it provides magical and unique accommodation for two to enjoy a romantic break.
Head up the steps and through the door to the huge open plan living space which will take your breath away, with colour shining through the big stained glass windows onto the vaulted ceiling and the shiny wooden floor, warmed by rugs and the wood burning stove.
Make your own music on the grand piano (Collard & Collard 6.5ft antique piano) or turn on the home cinema projector and surround sound system, to enjoy an atmospheric movie.
Sleeping arrangements do not come much more romantic than this, with the four-poster bed beautifully arranged on the stage where musicians once performed.
The Music Room is a wonderful retreat for couples.
Note: The Barn can be booked with The Gallery, The Pottery and The Barn and together they can sleep 14.
