"This is the most relaxing break we have had in years."
Bryants cottage is like a home from home. Fully equipped in every sense. Literally nothing was missing that we could have possibly needed. The owners have clearly thought of everything.
-
"Parking is not ideal."
Free parking that is full of locals most of the time. We were asked to keep clean,no problem with that but no cleaning cloths supplied.
-
"It was lovely to come back again to the cottage."
We only had 1 problem with the shower not working, so Dave had to drive all the way to the cottage to fix it, and we also said about the light on the front door doesn't work, hard to see the key box to open it to get the front door key out.
-
"Lovely well fitted kitchen."
The bed was so comfy. I missed having tv in bedroom but still slept like a log. Bathroom was disappointing as shower had very little water pressure and the toilet was in a very small alcove which made it difficult to use. The book of rules were extreme to say the least. We wouldn't return to this cottage.
-

Great location for Devon,Cornwall and Somerset. Cottage was very clean and well equipped. Lovely kitchen diner with everything you need. Comfortable Bed and luxury bathroom with jacuzzi. Nice quiet location so peaceful at night.always parking space available outside. 2 pubs 2 minutes walk away excellent food at the Red Lion. Also an excellent Indian Restaurant in village. Highly recommend this cottage and will definitely be back.

"Could do with TV’ in bedrooms ,and I found it a bit cold"
-
"The cottage was lovely, all amenities great,it was spotless."
The cottage is in a lovely village and the locals are so friendly.Just 2 minutes away from 2 local pubs, food in the Red Lion good, did not eat in The Court House as we never ate there but were very friendly.Local Indian we very tasty and the local chip & fish van that is outside the cottage on a Thursday was delicious. This place is wonderful for walkers. The reason I gave 9 was just that we are not walkers ,so was a distant to other towns but was no problem.

"A couple of things but they didn’t spoil our stay."
1. TV is too small 2. Toilet is very tight

"The property was more than a home from home it was like staying with your best friend's family home."
It was 5 star accommodation and was beyond our expectations. The owner made themselves available without pressing you. It is somewhere I would recommend if you value your privacy but have the option to engage with the village community in the 2 very welcoming pubs. It was a real treat. The only downside was the weather that week which let us enjoy the property probably even more, if that is even a downside. Absolutely gorgeous and lovely stay. Highly recommended and we would definitely return if able to do so.
Thank you for your detailed review of Bryants cottage. Glad you found the cottage beyond your expectations.... Property Owner

Especially love the upstairs space as it feels very cosy, clean and fresh. The bathroom too is beautiful. Can recommend the local walks round the village. The Red Lion for food, drink and friendly people. The pizza here is excellent and a must try! Would definitely stay again, thank you

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at this cottage.

"The Cottage was like a home from home, perfect, with all the kitchen equipment that we needed."
Loved that there was tea, coffee and sugar etc. Plus the box of biscuits too. The high quality standard is so good, much better than we thought it would be. The folder is a great help, so much detail inside. Plus the leaflets were a great help for us to know where to go each day. The maps are brilliant too. So glad that there were fans up and downstairs, as it was so hot. It was the perfect Cottage, so that's why we have booked it again for next September.
Hello Tracey, 7I am so pleased you found everything you needed at Bryants Cottage for your holiday. And that you have booked the cottage again for 2025. Property Owner

"Well presented and very clean holiday cottage, owner and cleaner should be proud would not hesitate to stay again if in the area as all you need is already there."
Owner on the ball as had a problem with the main tv on the Thursday by Friday problem fixed. Good location in between Exeter and Barnstaple. Lovely village has a general store and two pubs but need to check times and days when open (Monday and Tuesday) no food. Indian restaurant was great food(had dinner there 3 x nights) and not dissapointed would suggest booking table for Friday and Saturday night.

"Bryants Cottage has been renovated to a very high standard and we had an amazing weeks stay."
Facilities were excellent, cleanliness faultless and we always managed to get a parking space in the free car park in front of the cottage. The only negative would be the lack of outside space but that is reflected in the price. One suggestion would be, if permitted, a bench under a window at the front to catch the evening sun. Recommendations: A mobile fish and chip van parks outside on a Thursday and is well worth trying, also the Indian does very good food. There's a bus stop outside the Red Lion to Exeter (5c) which has replaced the 377, and I think there is a bus to Barnstaple on Tuesdays and Fridays. Lots of places for walking and the par 3 golf course is reasonably priced and good fun. I would recommend a stay here.

"Excellent property, very clean, thankyou for the milk & biscuits, will return in future"
-
"The cottage was spotless."
We'll equipped kitchen everything you could need. Only 2 minor things, a 3 seater sofa would be better in the lounge, and whilst the bed was very good quality the plastic/rubber sheet under the mattress protector made it extremely hot. Overall an excellent holiday.

About the location
CHULMLEIGH
Winkleigh 6.3 miles; Barnstaple 18 miles; Exeter 25 miles.
Chulmleigh is a delightful village in the heart of Devon, with a real, old-fashioned community spirit. With its narrow cobbled lanes, rows of thatched cottages, courtyards and welcoming inns it is a pleasure to wander here in this relatively unspoilt part of Devon. It is a year-round destination, with summer gardens and winter walks to enjoy. The 180-mile Tarka Trail starts in nearby Eggesford Forest, which is on the banks of the River Taw, and follows a pretty route through woodland, and offers some spectacular moorland views. Chulmleigh is particularly good for birdwatchers, who can spot kingfishers, cormorants, goosanders and dippers along the quiet riverbanks. Fishing is a popular sport in the area, with salmon and sea trout in the rivers and coarse fishing on Catham Lakes and Huntacott Water. Chulmleigh is midway between the national parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor and within easy reach of the rugged north Devon coast.
