  • "Lovely peaceful property, excellently situated to be a fantastic base for exploring both Devon and Cornwall."

The surrounding walks and villages are lovely and can be reached via a short walk from the property door. The property has everything you need and is a home from home, the pint of milk and biscuits were a lovely surprise and welcome addition after the journey down, thank you so much.

A beautiful, cosy character cottage. So peaceful and tranquil with the sound of the lovely stream running by. Beautiful wildlife and walks straight from the doorstep across the fields. Fantastic location too. We very much look forward to returning.

  • "Spacious character-filled farmhouse with beautiful scenery and the potential to be great."

Had many issues with uncleanliness, particularly unacceptable amounts of dust and dog hair that I vacuumed up from the living room, which caused a severe eye reaction in our 4-year old Grandson. The advert needs to stress that the dirt track is VERY steep and VERY rough. It also needs to state that the public footpath runs through the front garden. Good places to visit.

Only a couple of down points. The road (dirt track) needs some serious up dating. It damaged 2 out of our 3 cars underneath. We had to walk in front and remove large loose stones before we could drive up or down. Beds were old and lumpy need new mattresses. Lack of garden furniture so had to sit on blankets on the floor. Farmhouse is old and could use some TLC.

  • "East Cleave is a beautifully situated cottage in a peaceful location."

There are plenty of walks from the house and Bude is a short distance away. The cottage itself is warm and comfortable. It is well equipped and has all amenities. The house does need some updating and a hard standing outside the house for parking would be useful as it got very muddy. Paul and Becki the caretakers were prompt to respond to our call for assistance when the boiler played up, so thanks to them. I was grateful that the owner allowed our four dogs at no extra charge, however dogs are only allowed in the tiled areas - kitchen and outside porch - which I would suggest that this means the cottage isn’t dog friendly, merely dog tolerated. We had a restful week. Thank you.

  • "Just back from a wonderful week at East Cleve ."

Situated in the heart of the Devon countryside this is perfect for anyone wanting to escape for a week. Even in October the cottage was warm. Central heating and wood burner if you need it. High chair and cot available for my granddaughter and my dog loved sitting in the porch on the chair watching any potential hikers. Great situation should you wish to travel to North Cornwall or South ie Perranporth and Bude to the North is only 1 hour away and south to the fishing villages of Looe and Polperro again only just over 1 hour. Step straight out into the country side for dog walks. Sit under the stars at night. Couple of days I just sat and painted the wonderful scenery. Just a wonderful haven to reboot yourself. Didn't want to come home.

  • "As soon as we arrived we fell in love with East Cleave."

The kids and the dogs were straight in the stream before we even step foot in the house! The house was absolutely perfect, incredibly clean and very welcoming. Everything we could think of was there to make our stay as easy and comfortable as possible for both the the humans and dogs in the family! Our three children loved being in the family room together and all said how comfy the beds were too. Every morning started with a dog walk straight from the back door which was amazing. The views over Dartmoor were incredible in the day time and the stars in the sky were like nothing we've seen before at night. We absolutely loved our stay and are very much looking forward to visiting again in the future. We would recommend this gem of a house to anyone who is wanting to stay in the area. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful house with us.

  • "Central location, handy for days out."

Peaceful setting with lots of wildlife to watch. WiFi is slow and patchy but loads of board games and DVDs to entertain. Beds weren't very comfortable and most pillows were feathered so not allergy friendly. Although dogs are allowed, it's not dog friendly, only allowed in porch and kitchen. Overall, we did have an enjoyable stay.

We have just returned after a 4 night stay, the cottage is comfortable and clean with everything you need in it. The setting is lovely with the stream at the bottom of the garden. Our dogs loved it. No need to get in the car if you don't want to as there are many walks all well signed from your doorstep. The White Hart in Bridestowe is welcoming with very reasonably priced good food. Alternatively the Fox and Hounds serves a great breakfast. All in all a lovely peaceful break. We would definitely recommend and look to return.

Location is ideal for heading out onto the Moor or for visiting the beaches. The setting is very peaceful with no sound of traffic just the trickle of the stream. Walking distance from a couple of great pubs. The house is very well equipped, the kitchen has plenty of pots, pans, cutlery and crockery. The lounge has plenty of games, DVD’s and books. Bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. Nice bath and powerful shower. There is plenty of room in the garden for chilling out and our children aged 9 and 11 had lots of fun playing in the stream and exploring the woods and fields. The stream is ideal for cooling of your feet after a long walk. We had a great time sitting out in the evening with the chimera fired up looking up at the stars watching for shooting stars and satellites. The local village shop owners are really helpful and friendly and is great for amenities. Housekeeper and caretaker where on call if we needed anything they were very helpful, the house was lovely and clean and felt very safe (with the COVID-19 situation) We will definitely be back for another visit!

East Cleave is the perfect get away from it all, it is peaceful and quite, just the sounds of the birds and the river, with views over looking Dartmoor, rustic charm and cosy. We used the surf beach at Westward Ho, about a 40min drive, weekly parking is £15 or £4 per day and dog friendly to the righthand side of the coast guard station. Supermarkets are nearby in Okehampton and there is a store and pub in the village. Walking from the farmhouse takes you on to Dartmoor. Family friendly cycling is also near by.
