  • "Enginefield is a lovely cottage, tucked away in a quiet lane in Coombe Martin."

It was beautifully presented, very clean and the flowers and cream teas were a lovely touch. It allowed us to really explore the area, with great walks along the coastal park and in Exmoor itself.

Very convenient for local amenities and buses. We enjoyed walking into Combe Martin, a lovely spot to eat , bathe or sit and watch the world go by. The welcome scone and cream was much appreciated , as were the fresh flowers. Plenty of places to explore by car, bus or on foot. THANKYOU.

  • "Combe Martin is a lovely place to stay."

It is a very welcoming village with a few really nice friendly pubs, there are cafes and shops, so it is easy to get what you need and you don't have to travel. We enjoyed the walks around the village, we walked to Ilfracombe and up Hangman Hill so for people who like walking it is ideal. I would recommend Combe Martin highly and I would definitely stay there again. As for the cottage, it is ideal for a couple wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Very clean and accommodating, has everything you need and is in an ideal location to get around the village. Again highly recommended and we would stay there again and again.

The only criticism really was the outside area which is not attached to the property and is an open space where the general public can walk but not a great problem. Very enjoyable and a great base to explore the Devon coast.

  • "I used this cottage for a walking holiday in the area."

It was very comfortable and clean and tidy when I arrived. There are bus stops a few minutes walk away. I can’t comment on the parking facilities because I used public transport. The Top Chippy in the high street is excellent and there’s a small Co-op within 10minutes walk. The only criticisms I would make are the coffee maker which I couldn’t get to work and the fact that it’s very difficult to alter the thermostat.

  • "We were extremely pleased to find our rented cottage in the middle of Coombe Martin."

The accommodation was excellent, with everything we could wish for to make our stay comfortable. We were able to travel out and explore the surrounding area and we were lucky with the weather. If any couple is looking to explore the area, look no further than this. I had my 82nd birthday celebration here, and I could wish for no better place. As golden oldies, my wife and I enjoyed using our bus passes to travel around. We joined the local people who just waited anywhere on the main road and flagged the bus down to pick us up. This is what you call a bus service. Well done Devon bus company.

It’s locality is ideal for visiting popular coastal towns and villages. The facilities are ideal and the owners deserve a 4* rating. We did forget to leave a comment but would like to say that we enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely stay there again, the kind thought of the Devonshire cream tea on arrival was very welcoming. We would like to thank the owners for letting us share their little piece of heaven.

Thank you for your kind comments, we try very hard to provide a comfortable stay for our guests. Thank you for leaving the property so neat and clean, it makes the change over a pleasure. We hope you will visit again. Property Owner

  • "Nice very clean property, bed very comfortable but maybe need new pillows."

The kitchen is very well equipped but would suggest that equipment on the Skye’s website is listed as did not know a cafeteria or a coffee maker were part of the equipment so bought my own which was unnecessary, also washing up equipment was not listed. Parking in your allocated space could be an issue if you have a large car trying to get down a very tight lane and into the area where you have to park in between reflectors on the wall, that said we had a very enjoyable stay where we explored and loved the North Devon coast which may I say is beautiful and diverse.

Perfect for a short stay for a couple who will be out and about most of the time. Good info provided on local area and very helpful landlords when we need to contacted them. The kitchen was well kitted and the bedroom was a good size. Location was good as it was off the main busy road and a nice stroll along the stream into town part of the way although it is quite a walk. We were worried about the parking due to the reviews but the parking was fine for a small van, the lane is just like the other narrow lanes in Devon.

  • "We had a great a time an Enginefield."

It was very clean on arrival and the fresh flowers and scones were a nice touch! The cottage had everything we needed and was comfortable. The listing is accurate - it is only a short walk away from garden and parking. It was a short distance from most places we wanted to visit. Our only issue was the walk to the dog poo bin (as dog poo isn’t allowed in normal bins here) - we visited with a young dog so every time we had to pick up after her in the garden it was a 7 minute round trip to the bin. An outdoor bin could be provided in the garden for dog waste which we could then just empty once a day. Everything else was great, and we really enjoyed our stay.

  • "We had a great holiday."

Perfect size for a couple on holiday. Its in a lovely location by the beautiful little church. Combe Martin is not overly busy anyway but the mile or so walk from the cottage to the beach meant it was lovely and quiet where the cottage is. We sampled most of the pubs over the week for food and a few drinks!! Would definitely recommend the cottage and Combe Martin to anyone. Only slight negative was the very grumpy next door neighbour. The lane is tight outside so I parked in front of his garage for the purposes of unloading the car. I was only there 5 minutes but he came down and was pretty aggressive. The parking area is in a slightly different location which is clearly explained in the instructions. Perfectly easy to get to and, at most, 20 metres from the parking to the front door. I would advise just parking and unloading from there. The scones on arrival were a nice touch!

The cottage was clean and well equipped The downfall was getting to the car park off wet lane The car park is only suitable for a small car as we had a big vehicle We ended up parking around the corner at Connelles car park £4:00 a day x 7 days which cost us an extra £30 which was an expenditure we hadn’t accounted for Another downfall was that there was no garden to look out at The description of the garden is quite misleading

Dear Ms Dosanjh, Thank you for your review. With reference to the description about the outside space, the description was modified to more accurately reflect its location after a comment from a previous guest. With reference to the parking facilities, although the property description does state "parking for one car" we will modify the description to say suitable for a vehicle size up to VW camper van in light of your comments. We apologise if you felt misled and appreciate the opportunity to improve the service we provide. Property Owner

Lovely touch to be greeted with flowers and cream tea upon entrance. Would have been nice to have outside space immediately adjacent to the property but this didn't detract from the holiday too much. The walk to the sea front was a little further than we expected but again I'm being picky. Some lovely places to eat within walking distance and great location to explore the North Devon coast.

Spotlessly clean and nicely furnished, with almost everything we needed.Only two small comments. Although we had particularly lovely weather during our stay , it would have been great to have more comfortable garden furniture available. The quality of the duvet was odd, may be disposable, but it was too small for the lovely duvet cover so lots of sorting out where the duvet was in the middle of the night. Correct this couple of things then we'd give 10/10 +++. Thank you.

Although we had to search the house, once we found it, we fell into a dream. Everything one could ask for is provided, all brand new, very clean and the beautiful fresh flowers and the scones and cream were much appreciated. The owners that live upstairs were very helpful when we got a little problem with the lock of the front door. Attention: when you leave the car park be careful cause the wall opposite the narrow lane bites cars!
