"Nice cosy cottage - well stocked and ideal for a family or two couples."
There's parking for two or three cars. There are good walks direct from the cottage and it's not far from Dartmoor. Newton Abbot and Totnes are nearby and great for eating out. A perfect base for exploring the area although a car is essential, as there are no shops or pubs within 40 minutes walk.

"The Old Haybarn is an excellent conversion, and has comfortable accommodation and good facilities;everything is in good condition."
The owner, living just by, was very helpful in answering a couple of queries we had.
-
"The Haybarn is a lovely refurbished barn conversion in the Countryside based down a narrow road/lane at Combe Fishacre."
It was very clean, comfortable and the added extras of wine milk and flowers were a nice touch and very much appreciated. There is sufficient off road parking along side the property. The garden is very pleasant with furniture to sit; particularly nice to sit out after a day exploring.
-
"The Haybarn was lovely with such detail ,and so well equipped ."
The only problem was no shaver socket. In the bath room , and possibly a duck board to step onto from the shower. Would be safe to save slipping on the tiled floor , Other wise we found every thing perfect

"Absolutely stunning accommodation and facilities."

"Only fault would be the poor internet"
-
"A gorgeous place to stay, well equipped, peaceful, comfortable and warm."
We’ll be back. Plus, appreciated the really helpful host, Dave. Thank you!

"All very good, no problems whatsoever."

"The only slight complaint is that when we booked we thought we would be in the village of Ipplepen in walking distance of shop, pub etc."
In fact the cottage is right a the end of the hamlet of Coombe Fishacre down a very narrow lane. Had we known this we probably wouldn't have booked and would have missed a really lovely place to stay. The Old Haybarn has been superbly converted with everything very clean and comfortable. It is a very peaceful location with probably fewer than two cars per hour passing on the road. The garden is also beautifully tended and a very peaceful place to sit and enjoy a cup of tea or a glass of wine. Our hosts called in just after we arrived to welcome us and just before we left to check that we hadn't spotted any problems that needed to be rectified before the next guests (there wasn't). They live just across the road so are available but did not intrude in any way. A great area to explore once you get used to the narrow winding roads! Can't recommend this enough!

"We had a very enjoyable stay at the Old Haybarn."
The owner provided us with some wine and milk on arrival. The barn was very clean and kept to a very high standard by the owner. Every thing you required for our stay was provided. to a high standard The Old Haybarn is highly recommended.

"The Old Haybarn was immaculately presented."
It is a lovely, very well appointed and comfortable space. David, it was great to meet you, to understand the history and passion you have put into renovating the barn. we loved it and wont hesitate in coming again when the weather is better.

"A very comfortable stay over New Year in a spacious and exceptionally well equipped cottage."
Heating was good, and the log fire a great bonus in the evenings. Owner David was very attentive. Situated in a country lane but not isolated, and only a mile from the Totnes to Newton Abbot Road. Plenty of off-road parking in the property grounds.

"Absolutely beautiful accommodation, perfect for our needs with everything you could possibly need."
Hosts are lovely Thank you

"We very much enjoyed our stay in the cottage."
It was wonderfully and tastefully presented, the beds, sofa's etc all comfortable. All the appliances are modern and easy to use and we really enjoyed that the garden area was safe for our children to play in (they're aged 6-10). It was great to meet the owner on the first night and reassuring to know they were close by. The ceiling fan in the lounge was a blessing to help keep the room cool and although it was too warm when we visited to use it, the log burner is such a wonderful feature. It was great to have items such as an iron, outside washing line etc. The only minor points we'd like to feed back on is that the smaller bathroom could do with a handle on the inside, to help close it. Two out of our three children couldn't close the door because there is nothing suitable to grip on to. Everyone else was fine though and it was brilliant to have a second WC, as a family of 5. The only other very small point is that it would be great to have a heat-proof microwave suitable jug or similar, for heating things up in the microwave. All the china bowls and melamine bowls were microwave safe, but they of course get very hot and so it was tricky to use these for things like heating up beans, soup, making porridge in the microwave - I'm so sorry if there was one, but I missed it. We very much enjoyed the stay and wouldn't hesitate to return :)
Thank you for your comments we have responded to the suggestions you have made. Property Owner

"We had a fantastic week at The Old Hay Barn."
The barn was so well equipped with everything we could possibly need and more. Set in such a peaceful and beautiful village. This provided is with a well earned rest whilst being so close to Torquay, Paignton and so many more places to explore. Thank you to Dave and Pat for all their help and for such a warm welcome. We had such a good time and hopefully will return in the future.

"Cannot fault it."

"An excellent holiday property."
Very high standard of conversion from an old barn. Very quiet situation. Having stayed at many barn, cowshed, stable conversions with Sykes and others the Old Haybarn is amongst the best. Be prepared for narrow lanes but all part of the a delightful Devon.
-
"As all visitors have said this is a lovely conversion, well designed , spotless and comfortable, especially as it is all on one floor."
The extra wc was a thoughtful and sensible idea. Extremely quiet position and lovely garden. I would add only that this cottage is not actually in Ipplepen village itself (we never went there!) but is in Combe Fishacre which is necessary to know if you find the access, driving on narrow lanes with blind bends nerve wracking. This may also be important for those arriving in a larger than average vehicle.
-
"It's a shame the only thing that let it down was there were a lot of cobwebs and a bit chilley so log burner had to be lit."
But otherwise it was okay
We cannot understand this feedback. We always introduce ourselves to our guests on the day they arrive and encourage them to knock on our nearby door if there are any problems at all in the barn. The thermostatically controlled heating has not been altered since the middle of winter when guests reported the barn was warm. With regards to cobwebs I am sure that if you look hard you would find one or two, but we do clean very thoroughly at every changeover. Property Owner

"We really enjoyed our stay at The Old Haybarn."
It was spotlessly clean and very well equiped with added extras (fresh milk, flowers, tea & coffee). It is in a peaceful and quiet location but easy to get to the main road. The garden is a lovely setting to have morning coffee. Couple of minor things to note if you are travelling with small children. The internet is a little slow for streaming, best to pre-download TV shows for the kids. The cottage gets a little chilly at night (early april) so we had to light the fire, a fire guard was provided but we were a bit silly and didn't find it under the bed. In summary I highly recommend the cottage for anyone visiting the area.
-
"If booked during the colder months you have to be willing to light the woodburner each day as property can get cold."
-
"Very well equipped and welcoming, clean and lovely location."
I would have no hesitation in recommending.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this lovely barn conversion."
Spacious, well equipped, spotlessly clean. Situated down a Devon Lane, (but not far from the main road) it was very peaceful and we enjoyed the garden with fine views and bird life. A good location for exploring Totnes, Dartmouth, Dartington, and all surrounding villages. Alan and Gill.
Pleased you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Haybarn, it's situated in a quiet village, but very near lots of activities and it was a good place to stay with kids too, as there were a number of boardgames ready for them to play."
We were also visited by a pheasant in the back garden, which the children were fascinated by. Many thanks to our hosts for the 5 days.
Very pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

Although it was a very very cold week, 14th ----20th January we had a lovely time. Barn was warm and cosy with a lovely woodburner. Will look forward to returning. Jenny

"Beautiful barn conversion, done to a very high standard."
Equipped with everything you could need. Peaceful countryside setting, away from it all.
-
"The second time we have stayed at this great cottage."
Everything is of a high standard. Will definitely be back. Only tiny negative is that the internet connection is very slow. But nothing the owner can do except hope that the infrastructure improves in the future.
-
"It would have been great to have some comfortable outdoor furniture to sit on"
-
"Great location, it felt you were very much in the countryside but only a mile from the main road."
It was a lovely peaceful setting for this converted barn. The accommodation was well equipped for a very comfortable stay. Welcome by the owner was friendly and the scones and milk were greatly appreciated.
-
"Very comfortable and had everything needed for a holiday home."
-
"Lovely barn conversion in a quiet rural location."
Perfect for a relaxing “get away from it all” break. We enjoyed our week there very much indeed and would definitely book again
-
"The cottage is beautiful and was equipped with everything we needed."
There was an issue with the power going off due to a storm. Thankfully we hadn’t set off due to the bad weather so we delayed and the owner sorted it out quickly. The support from Sykes, when we thought the cottage would not be usable, was not adequate but thankfully the owner was great and it all worked out so we were able to check in a day later. We had a great week and would definitely return again.
-
"We had the most wonderful gentle and relaxing stay in your beautiful barn and recommended it to our family and friends"
-
"Beautiful converted been, wonderful location quiet and peaceful but not far from pubs/supermarkets etc."
Our second visit here so that says it all!!
-
"Absolutely lovely cottage!"
Very quiet location, beautiful interior and very comfortable. Had a lot more kitchen equipment than expected. Scones, cream and jam on arrival was a very nice touch from the owners! Would definitely recommend and come again.
-
"What a great cottage, very peaceful and relaxing."
-
"Lovely property in a quiet location."
Very peaceful
-
"Beautiful place and accurately described, we'd love to live there!"
Very welcoming hosts with extra treats. The only thing I would recommend is a few more options/investment with kitchen equipment, for example kitchen knives (very blunt), pots and pans etc, but this is minor! We felt that Sykes holiday insurance was very misleading when booking the holiday. With the Covid situation we felt compelled to purchase insurance at an additional £38 to cover cancellation if one us became ill before the holiday otherwise we wouldn't receive a refund. The way the insurance was laid out meant it was unclear whether you needed insurance or not to cover this. I felt Sykes could have been more transparent and supportive in the current situation.

"Car is essential"
-
"A lovely break away in a cosy cottage away from all the busy city life."
I would most certainly recommend.
-
"Top class accommodation in every way with amazing attention to detail and comfort."
Well positioned to visit attractive towns of South Devon and Dartmoor walks Very good value for money for our October visit
-
"Wonderful barn conversion, clean and perfect for exploring Devon."
The setting is wonderfully secluded and the garden and patio areas add to the beauty of this place. The owners are welcoming but unobtrusive and the little extras, cream tea, flowers etc are a wonderful addition to a perfect holiday. We enjoyed it so much we have already booked for next spring! !
-
"We normally Holiday in our Motorhome but thought, because of the Corona restrictions on the campsites and the lack of availability on our preferred sites for the end of summer we would try and book a Holiday cottage."
The Haybarn suited us perfectly and as it turned out was an ideal choice for a week of peace and quiet, lots of peace as it turned out. Its a major event when a car comes past in the lane. The facilities were A1 standard and the place was outstanding in lots of ways. We would, and probably will, stay there again next year. The garden is well tended by the owners who live about 100 yards away tucked away in their cottage and they are by no means intrusive, but are there if needed, for help and advice. There is more than enough parking on a large gravel drive for two cars if needed and the cottage is finished to a very high standard. We stayed for a week and had lovely weather with lots of bird song with the peace on one day only disturbed by sheep in an adjoining field whilst a combine worked the next field. If you stay here listen for the owls at night, also the lack of light pollution shows a sky in all its glory with the stars putting on a wonderful show. In short, enjoy.

"Excellent property and very peaceful surroundings."
Owner very friendly

"Lovely newly refurbished barn, in a quiet location but with easy access to all major places that we wanted to visit."
The owner came and met us just after we arrived and there was the lovely surprise of cream tea waiting for us. We didn’t know what to bring but the owners had also supplied cleaning equipment, including washing liquid (clothes and dishes), tea bags, sugar, milk and basic condiments. This was a welcome after a long journey down. Netflix available (with your own subscription) and log burner well stocked. Beautifully located and we and our three daughters had a great time.Thank you

"The moment we arrived at The Old Haybarn we were super impressed by the property and the welcome we received."
The property is situated on a quiet country lane in a small hamlet but within easy reach of all the main attractions in South Devon and Dartmoor. The owners of the property were welcoming and informative but not intrusive ( we loved the Devon cream tea they had left for us on arrival just perfect after a long drive). The property was well equipped , the kitchen provided everything you needed to make simple snacks to a three course family meal. The decoy was beautiful the wooden beams and wood burner perfectly complemented the type of building, there was plenty of natural light through out and every room felt spacious. We enjoyed being able to sit outside around the garden table enjoying a meal together , the garden had beautifully kept flower borders around a small lawned area . We very much look forward to returning to The Old Haybarn again in the future and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cottage in south Devon
