  • "We had a wonderful stay at the cottage which was beautifully decorated and some great artwork on the walls."

It felt really homely, was well stocked with kitchen accessories and thought had gone into the general set up. The views over the harbour are fabulous both during the day and at night so breakfast and dinner should be eaten al fresco whenever possible. The only reason I gave 9 out of 10 for if I’d recommend it is the steps up to the property which really aren’t that bad but could put off some people. We highly suggest having some cocktails at the 1620 Bar in Dartmouth as they seemed to make the steps a breeze to climb! We will definitely be back Julian & Clair

  • "The cottage was in a great setting; we enjoyed looking out over the estuary from the decking, it was a great place for sitting with a cup of tea or glass of wine and a particularly good setting for viewing the regatta fireworks."

The steps up from the road could be a bit challenging but not a surprise at all as they are in the description. Lovely views from living room and main bedroom. There is a village shop very close by which is very well stocked. Previous reviews from some time back described getting a permit for the marina car park but it seemed we needed to pay for the car park in the normal way at the machine or on Ringo - it would be helpful if this was described in the cottage instructions. All in all though we really enjoyed our stay, with lots to do nearby, and easy ferry crossing to Dartmouth and beyond.

  • "Lovely cottage with everything you need."

Really comfortable bed and well stocked kitchen. The views are amazing from the front terrace and windows. Great seating area for outdoor food and drinks. A couple of nice pubs in Kingswear and of course the steam train. No problem getting the ferry over to Dartmouth, car ferry was quicker generally. Only thing to note is that the cottage is absolutely not suitable if you would struggle to climb up the 70+ steep steps up to the cottage.

  • "Not nearly enough emphasis is placed on the severity of the steps leading up to this property in the description."

Ok it says not suitable for people with mobility issues, but to me that isn’t enough. They are pretty extreme and this should be covered in the advertisement of the property. There were so many cobwebs inside the house it made it feel quite unclean to be honest. And a few too many bits n bobs made it feel cluttered. Very comfy bed tho. Unfortunately unable to stay more than 2 nights out of the 7 I booked due to the cryptosporidium outbreak and my partner having no immunity due to a serious health issue. Sadly a waste of money and waste of annual leave from work.

Thank you for your constructive feedback; I am so sorry to hear that you felt that not enough emphasis was placed on explaining the steps to the property. The descriptions clearly says ‘lots of steep steps to reach the property and photo 31 shows the steps. I have asked Sykes to tweak the listing to make this even clearer. I have passed on your comments regarding cobwebs to our cleaning company and asked them to attend to this as a priority - thank you from bringing this to my attention. I am glad you found the beds comfortable. Please accept our apologies for the Crytospordium outbreak with SW Water - regrettably out of our control and affecting the whole area but I am sorry this has caused you to cut your break short and spoilt your holiday. Sykes will be in touch with you regarding this. Once again thanks for your feedback. Kind regards Fiona Darde Property Owner

  • "A beautifully presented cottage with stunning views out over the river dart."

The cottage was comfortable and well thought out with lots of character and charm. Access to the cottage for check in and check out was tricky due to parking and steps, but this was made clear in the description. We would definitely return.

Thank you very much for your positive feedback - we are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and hope to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards Fi Darde Property Owner
