  • "This apartment is in an ideal location in the centre of Dartmouth."

We have stayed here a number of times but sadly have seen a deterioration in the general maintenance over the past couple of years. The window in the kitchen area remains broken and unusable from 2 years ago (we pointed this out to Sykes Cottages at the time). Whilst the appliances, cutlery, crockery etc are clean along with the bathroom fixtures and the bed linen, the windows were covered in cobwebs which had obviously been there for sometime and the woodwork (skirting boards, windowframes) were dirty and dusty. On departure day, we duly stripped the bed of linen as requested in the property instructions to find that there were no pillow protectors in place, the pillows were stained, the duvet and mattress protector were also badly stained. It is a great shame that standards have not been maintained for this property and certainly does not reflect the usual quality of Sykes holiday cottages.

  • "The flat was ok but a few things do need attention."

The windows need a good clean they were dirty when we arrived, and a bit cobwebby and one we couldn't open . The shower needs some sort of a shelf or hooks because there's no where to put ones stuff, shampoo and sponge etc. When you come down the stairs, near the bottom, there needs to be some sort of handle to grab because you could topple down the last few steps. Also as a good will jester you could leave a small bottle of milk and a few tea bags for people who arrive late after a long journey with no shops open.

  • "The apartment is very central in a lovely part of Dartmouth, close to everything."

The apartment is nice and bright with a kitchen well equipped. Beds very comfortable and nice crisp white sheets. Easy to find (above clothes shop). A few issues with the boiler , which affected our hot water and central heating but hopefully no problems for future uses as a new boiler to be fitted. Also has a cafetière and a jug you could put flowers in

Very disappointed you did not even provide a cafetiere. Would suggest you review your Welcome Pack. It's too full of consequences rather than providing a warm welcome.

  • "Lovely property and perfect location."

Just a few things I should mention to the homeowner. The woodwork needs a lick of paint to keep it to the high standard I felt. There was a musky smell from the bathroom which when the windows were opened was fine. The carpets in the lounge were stained so could do with a good carpet clean. And utensils - there were no kitchen tongs for cooking & Maybe supply salt & pepper to guests in the cupboard.

I like a home from home feel and a blanket/throw would have made a snuggle on the sofa perfect. Also a jug or vase for fresh flowers something I also buy for my holiday lets, it takes the stark atmosphere out of rentals. Great location and nothing to complain about

Everything was fresh, clean and modern and the location was perfect - so close to the waterfront and all the amenities. Everything we wanted for a super week in Dartmouth. Close to all local amenities, shops, car park, restaurants and river excursions. Situated at the end of Foss street (the quintessential Dartmouth boutique shopping street), it was beautiful to look out of the window on such a lovely scene. The bedroom to the rear of the property meant that we were not disturbed at all and slept soundly. Excellent place to stay, would recommend.

  • "This has been our 3rd stay in this lovely well appointed property located in an ideal position in Dartmouth."

Whilst the bed linen and towels were spotlessly clean, on this occasion we were disappointed to find a number of areas of the apartment were dusty (skirting boards) and found splashes of spilt drink on the door surrounds. On stripping the bed linen at the end of our stay we also discovered that the pillows did not have any pillow protectors and some had stains,(a must for any bedding which is shared) and the mattress protector was covered in stains and needs urgent replacement. There was a bad smell coming from the sink in the kitchen area which we reported to the office. They said they had sent a plumber in who put chemicals down but this did not solve the problem. Overall we had a lovely stay but were disappointed that some standards had slipped since our previous stay and hope these will be rectified before we return.

  • "We loved the apartment overall, but there were a couple of things that affected our stay."

No cleaning products were supplied other than soap and washing up liquid. Some anti-bac, or bleach would have been useful. There was also only one bin liner. There were no instructions regarding recycling, or bin days. We just assumed that we use the round bin on the street, which all of the passers by also used. The aerial on the TV was intermittent and sometimes we couldn’t get a signal. We found the sofa a little too small for us personally. A drying rack by the sink would also be useful and perhaps a lamp in the living room. We also thought a black out blind would help in the bedroom as we were woken by the light mornings. That being said, we had an absolutely wonderful stay and really enjoyed it. The flat was clean, well equipped for the kitchen. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve stayed in! Lots of storage, great location.

Apparently we could have arrived early and this would have been convenient but this was not obvious in the Sykes information which stated not to arrive before 4.00pm which was in fact the closing time to pick up the keys. Some additional literature needs to be included in the flat on waste collection saying where and when to put out the rubbish. I ended up taking all of my waste back home since there was nowhere to put the rubbish on a Saturday. A good stay however and will come back to this property.

The car park worked well with the added bonus of being able to use the ticket in neighbouring towns. One small criticism was the lack of information about specific items in the flat - how to work the TV, adjust the heating or deal with rubbish. We worked them out but were surprised that there was no way to recycle waste apart from taking bottles to the bank, which we did.

The only point letting down and it was a minor one that could be easily rectified is that there was no shelf in either the shower or near the sink in the bathroom to put toiletries or shampoos on. As such these items had to be put on the floor which made the use difficult difficult. Only a small point and one easily rectified.
