"It was our 3rd time staying in the cottage."
We love it
Thankyou for taking the time to write your lovely review. We hope to welcome you back if you visit Dartmouth again (Coast and Country Cottages on behalf of the property owner ) Property Owner

"Really lovely home."
V practical layout, excellent facilities. Very good value for money. Beds a bit soft for us (but that's a personal thing). Excellent location for nipping into Dartmouth in 2mins on foot. Enjoyed the view over Dartmouth town and beautiful old trees outside. Nice patio, very private considering at front of the house, better than the pictures. Would recommend this house unreservedly!

"The cottage was lovely - just unfortunate that the description regarding access was inaccurate."
It isn’t really suitable for anyone with mobility issues or health conditions that affect walking up steep inclines and steep steps. This absolutely should be made clear on the website.
-
"The cottage is a lovely well equipped accommodation, it is close to the town centre but you do need to be mobile as there are several steps to climb."
The directions to the cottage need to change as we spent a long time trying to get to the cottage , the 6 ‘ wide restriction ( concrete bollards) caused us problems, they presented too much of a risk of damaging the car. We eventually ( after having to reverse down steep narrow streets) found a way to the opposite end of South Ford Road off Victoria Road and dropped off our baggage. The parking permit was great there after. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the cottage was excellent.
-
"Everything was fine , this was our second stay at Armada and will probably stay again next year , the only thing I would like to see is something at the top of the stairs to enable a better access and egress , thankyou ."

"This is a beautiful cottage in a beautiful town."
We highly recommend it. Be aware though that there are steep steps to climb from the street to get to it's front door. We are aged around sixty and manage fine but others may not. We have stayed here about half a dozen times over the last twelve years and look forward to are next stay. One criticism: when we arrived, the patio furniture had not been cleaned of birdpoo. Five of the six chairs and the table had to be cleaned by us. This had never happened before and I hope never happens again ~ it really is not good enough.
-
"We loved Armada Cottage - all very convenient and easy to use."
A couple of small points. We appreciate it is June(!) but suggest 17 is too low a temperature to set the heating to be comfortable. Secondly, we would suggest it wise not to encourage people to drive down the narrow street, particularly at the end of a long drive. We'd suggest it is easier to guide people along Victoria Road to the drop off point.
-
"Access road very narrow but we knew that so it didn’t detract from our holiday."
Car park permit a very welcome addition. House comfy. Everything we needed as we do eat at home sometimes. The kitchen well appointed and all utensils necessary. The bathroom and shower room all good. The beds clean and comfy. What more is there to say? Oh well let’s mention the weather!!! Not one drop of rain in a whole week. Thank you Armada Cottage.
-
"Very nice cottage ,clean and very warm ,we had trouble with a shower head which was solved very quickly."
It was a shame you looked out on a building site but we enjoyed our stay very much
-
"This was our second visit to Armada cottage."
We hugely appreciated the card from the owners welcoming us back and the bottle of fizz. Armada cottage is well equipped and spotlessly clean. It is well positioned in Dartmouth with easy on foot access to lots of places to eat and drink - even in the winter! It was very cold outside during our stay but the cottage was warm and cosy. The cottage is at the top of a flight of steep steps and unloading your luggage from a car is difficult because of the extremely narrow street outside so it may not be for you if you have mobility issues or very young children. For us though, it’s perfect!
-
"Had another amazing Holiday."
Thank you. Looking forward to our next holiday in the cottage, hope to book again soon.
-
"Stayed for a week starting on Regatta Saturday had a great time, walking on the top road took 5 minutes to the water’s edge, enjoyed it so much booked again for next year."
-
"We have passed one week at Armada cottage."
The cottage is very well equipped and clean. It is ideally situated, it only takes a 10 minutes walk to reach the centre with shops and restaurants. The parking permit is a real asset. It is important to know that the South Ford road is very steep and has a wide restriction to 6 feet for cars. A recommendation is to drive via Victoria street and enter the South Ford Road backwards for loading and unloading. We have enjoyed our stay very much.

"We really enjoyed our stay having found Armada Cottage well equipped and comfortable - so good to have plenty of matching mugs and glasses!"
- and quiet, even in seagull nesting season. The very few minuses: a picture of the steps outside would be useful so the house number is visible. The tv has definitely seen better days and an upgrade would bring this property into a 4 star plus category in my view. I don't understand why Sykes/Coast and Country seem not to provide welcome packs, not even a pint of milk. The competition often routinely do, and it is appreciated after a long drive.

"Armada Cottage proved to be a lovely place to stay."
It was very well equipped & finished to a very high standard. Having 2 quality bathrooms in a property of this size must be unusual and was very useful even for just the two of us. The location was really good & very quiet especially at night. Dartmouth is a great place to visit & stay for a while, plenty to do. We didn’t need to use our car throughout our week’s stay making the most of the excellent ferries & buses plus a great deal of walking including the SW coastal path. We left promising to return in the not too distant future & Armada Cottage will be our preferred option. A big thank you to the owners for making Armada Cottage so enjoyable.
-
"Our second stay at Armada Cottage quiet location close to the centre of Dartmouth."
Property is well equipped comfortable and exceptionally clean if I was being picky the single mattresses are a little old and one was missing a mattress protector but will definitely stay again. Thanks to the owners for the bubbly and card much appreciated
-
"Lovely cottage with everything you need, in an excellent location, just a short walk from town."
Only slight issue is that access to the cottage is up a steep flight of somewhat uneven steps.
-
"A very well equipped, well maintained and spotlessly clean cottage in a historic part of Dartmouth we were unfamiliar with despite having visited many times before."
Extremely convenient for shops, restaurants, pubs and accessing many lovely walks. The cottage is approached via 16 steep steps and a very narrow street so it is not possible to park nearby. A parking pass is included for a car park a 10 minute walk away . This was not a problem for us ( in fact it added to the charm) but the cottage would not be suitable for those with mobility problems. We very much hope to return.

"Well equipped and ideally located cottage"

"Loved the cottage and had a brilliant holiday"

"We loved Armada Cottage, it’s beautifully maintained and equipped with everything we needed for a lovely holiday, Thankyou."

"Lovely cottage in an ideal location."
We'd stayed a few times before & are booked in for 2wks next year. Disappointed this stay by a few minor things. No milk left so we couldn't have a cup of tea on arrival. Also, we had to buy things that should've been present: bin bags, kitchen/dish sponge, clothes detergent. Disappointed that the parking permit can no longer be used for the park&ride where we always leave the car to use the p&r bus to visit sainsbury and lidl. These minor irritations didn't detract from our enjoyment of the cottage and town and we're very much looking forward to returning next year.
-
"The cottage was lovely, had everything we needed and more."
It was in the perfect spot for exploring leaving the car behind.
-
"A very well furnished , decorated and equipped cottage."
All very comfortable. Immaculately clean on arrival. In a great position. Not too many steps up (for Dartmouth ! ) Handy for town centre but peaceful. A lovely terrace to eat out on with townscape and countryside views. We travelled to Dartmouth by train and bus and found it easy to get about by public transport and the steam railway and river cruises.Well explained and easy key collection and check out.

Lovely Cottage little smaller than we were expecting but had everything we needed clean and comfortable walking distance to Town and with the steps up to the property keeps you fit no hesitation in recommending

"We were delighted with the property."
It was exactly as described. It was very tastefully decorated, very comfortable and well equipped. It is located within easy reach of Dartmouth centre, yet quiet and peaceful. We had a wonderful week and have already recommended it to friends and family.
-
"Location of the property was perfect to the centre of town and all amenities."
A cosy homely cottage, but a few little things missing would have made it. Mattress in the main bedroom was too soft for us- (that is a personal preference) Having no aerial all week for terestial TV channels was disappointing. However the coast and country team did their best to rectify the situation. A TV in the main bedroom would have been great-staying in a property out of season, colder months, your not outdoors as much in the evenings as the summer months-and nothing more cosy than watching TV in bed during winter months. Overall a lovely stay, ideal location-we would stay here again, but not necessarily our first choice.
-
"Had a fantastic week in Dartmouth based in Armada Cottage so much so that my son was in tears and did'nt want to go home!"
The cottage was cosy, well equipped and clean. The only things that might need looking at are: Dimmer switch for dining table light was a little temperamental I had to phone to enquire about what to do with rubbish as the black bin on the patio was full on arrival and there was no seagull proof sack to place rubbish in as per the instructions which meant having a black bin bag in the kitchen for half the week All in all a really good stay and will certainly be looking to book again another time.
-
"A Lovely cottage just a few minutes walk away from the town."
It would have been nice to have a small welcome pack and a few logs for the fire to make our stay feel a little more special We had a lovely relaxing time away – thank you.
-
"Beautiful property."
Immaculate and perfect inside. Great location and great to have a parking space in the local car park. Only criticism is check in time at 3pm feels late - would prefer the ability to check in earlier and would be willing to pay for this.
-
"I would highly recommend staying at the Armada Cottage it is a lovely and cosy place ."
The fixture and fittings are of good quality, it has everything you need and it was exceptionally clean. ( A true home from home) Although there is no parking directly outside the cottage you have the bonus of the car parking permit, albeit a place is not reserved and on a first come first served basis. But once you are in unless you want to explore the surrounding area by car you have everything you need around you in respect of shops restaurants and bars. The harbour for boat trips and there are some lovely walks to do around you. So you don’t really need to drive anywhere. You can even visit Greenways by foot and ferry. Perfect place and perfect holiday. If there was anything I would recommend for improvement it would be just to have the ability to recycle rubbish more effectively. As only one bin for everything. thank you for opening your doors to us and allowing us to stay in your beautiful property.
-
"Absolutely beautiful cottage, and the cleanest we've ever stayed in."
Loved all the pictures on the walls too! Would love to come back again. Thank you!
-
"Wonderful cottage amongst the narrow Dartmouth lanes."
Clean, comfortable, tasteful and very effective heating. Lovely to wander down to the shops, ferries and town trails. Car parking permit off season was fine, so much to explore close by that some days the car wasn't visited!
-
"The cottage was clean, well equipped, well presented and as described."
The arrangements were very efficient. Couple of points to note: there was no recycling opportunity, which we would have liked. There were no logs or advice where to source and this was a big omission for us - our suggestion would be to provide a starter pack of a few logs and contact details for hardware shop in the market (who will deliver). The main bed mattress was very soft for us and the main bed needs 2 new pillows and it would be nice to have all white linen. Free parking in the town was a massive benefit!! And whoever did the silicone seals in the bathrooms is an absolute genius
-
"Lovey cottage in a good position."
Not an easy street to get car down to unload but once unloaded found the cottage to have everything that you need. Would come back to Armada Cottage
-
"I noted a couple of things to the office."
Summer duvet would be great and the gate needs a latch on to deter toddler from the steps..
-
"Fantastic cottage and superb location."
Perfect for families with all the amenities you need. Very comfortable and just a 5 minute walk into the centre of Dartmouth. The outside space is great - just nice to sit outside with the views!
-
"A really lovely well appointed cottage near the town centre."
Just the two of us and there was plenty room. We decided not to drive down the lane from the centre but instead pulled into the end of the road and unloaded there as we only had to walk back three cottages. There are a few steps up to the cottage, which would be unsuitable if disabled, but so would having the bedrooms upstairs. Would love to stay at the cottage again in the future. We had beautiful sunny weather and a very memorable and enjoyable wedding anniversary.
-
"Brilliant cottage."
Perfect for our family of two adults and two young children. Great location, well equipped and very comfy.
-
"This is a beautifully furnished well appointed cottage perfectly situated a short stroll from the main shopping streets and quayside of the historic town of Dartmouth."
Perfect for us non car driving types who had to catch the bus from Totnes. We were lucky with the January weather the first few days of our stay so managed to explore nearby on foot (lovely walk to Dartmouth Castle!) However the weather turned on our second to last day but this was no bother. We hunkered down in this lovely cottage for the day and watched the rainy weather glide down the valley from the comfort of the sofa with many cups of tea and a book (many great books in the bookcase!). We were lucky enough to get some logs for the wood burner delivered too. (Hardwear a shop in the market are very accomodating) so a long cosy day in front of the fire was just perfect! Would definitely come back for our annual winter getaway!

"It was the coziest, most perfect cottage for us."
We’re a family of four with two little boys (3 and 2 years old), and it was ample space for us all. They had a lovely living space to play in and if the weather was better, we would have extended their play area into the big front courtyard. Everything was very clean and tidy, with sweet coastal touches around the house. The kitchen had everything we could have wanted, so we were able to cook our meals with zero worries about whether we’d be able to make a dish or not. There was a great washer and fantastic drier, as well as a small clothes horse to air dry, too. We appreciated the dishwasher, as well! The bedrooms were fantastic. Our large bedroom felt really spacious yet cozy. We slept beautifully in the bed. The mattress was on the softer side for my husband, but he slept fine in the end. The fireplace was a dream! Thanks for the wooden hangers in the wardrobe - they were perfect for hanging all my husband’s and my clothes. The five-drawer set of drawers was great for all the rest. We loved the bedside tables and nightlights, too. We so appreciated the stair guard, travel cot, and high chair. Our son slept well in the cot and the stair guard was good for peace of mind. We also placed a chair in front of it, for double protection (our kids run fast!). The towels were nice and soft, and we appreciated there being four large towels, as well as four small towels. The parking pass was so useful and appreciated. The entire process and stay at Armada Cottage was just wonderful and easy - exactly what you need when traveling with two little ones. We’ll be back again! Thank you so much.
-
"The wood burner had not been cleaned after its previous use- the ashes needed removing."
The glass on the wood burner was also black with soot to the extent that it was not possible to see the flames of the fire- this also needed to be cleaned. The soot continued to be a problem on the glass- perhaps the chimney is ready for a sweep.
-
"Everything worked very well."
The cottage was immaculate, with everything you might need. and it is situated only 10 minutes walk from the maze of interesting shops and cafes by the waterfront. The newly built Arts Centre is a great asset. The only drawbacks were a) the difficulty in street parking, but it's good that the letting comes with a free permit for the main car-park; and b)the difficulty we had with the wood-burner (but put that down to our unfamiliarity with the workings of such things). Relying on a sat-nav for the last bit of the journey was a mistake, because the cottage is just off the main road down the hill, not at the end of a maze of narrow lanes and one-way streets The well-staffed office of Coastal cottages were very helpful.
-
"Armada cottage was exactly what everyone else said."
So clean and welcoming. Lovely decor. Perfectly equipped with everything you need. Great location 5 mins walk to town, harbour. Such a lovely home from home feel.
-
"A lovely cottage which met our expectations."
Clean, modern and has everything you require from two bathrooms, washer and dryer and a dishwasher. A fresh and homely cottage, the only point I would make is the parking (car park) is 5-10 minute walk from the cottage. This was not an issue for us, we had good weather and we have young kids , but to some people this maybe an issue. Overall the cottage and Dartmouth are both equally worth a visit.
-
"This was a perfect location, just a 5 minute walk into the town."
The cottage itself was fantastic. Really didn't want to come home. We will definitely be booking again for next year. Many thanks. Malcolm and Sue

"Lovely clean cottage, warm in a great location in Dartmouth."
Lots of space for 4 people. All facilities you need on holiday
-
"We were here for the Easter break from Oxfordshire with two boys, age 5 and 11 and they both had a wonderful time."
The accommodation was outstanding. Beautifully decorated, so all credit to the owner, as I came away with lots of ideas to replicate in my own house.
-
"Excellent little cottage, nicely decorated, well placed."
-
"Lovely home- spotlessly clean, wonderfully comfortable & equipped with all that you could need (even with a small toddler)."
It is fantastic that Armada Cottage was so perfect for your holiday needs, especially that it was so well equipped for your toddler. We hope you enjoyed Dartmouth and it would be lovely to welcome you back there again soon.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town.
