  • "We have just returned from a wonderful time in George Cottage."

It’s a brilliant location, only 10 mins or so walk to the town. It’s light, airy, very clean and dog friendly. It ticked all our boxes! Beds are very comfortable and has a great shower in the bathroom. Having the parking space was definitely a bonus in Dartmouth. Great base for day trips too. We couldn’t fault it! Highly recommend staying at George Cottage

  • "Another lovely stay at George Cottage in Dartmouth."

4 Adults this time, which the house accommodated well. We loved the new kitchen, a really good upgrade. Having a space directly outside to park the car is perfect and we left it there most of the week and walked into town, a 5-10 minute walk. We asked Coast and Country to arrange for the grass to be cut, which was done the same day and although the garden could do with some cutting back, that is the same everywhere with a wet and warm summer. We thoroughly recommend George Cottage, it is clean, well positioned and a great base for exploring Dartmouth and beyond. Thank you.

  • "The cottage interior was very nice and clean, lovely kitchen and very well equipped (only missing a frying pan!"

) and although there appears to be an extractor hood there are is no control panel. Nice little welcome pack and good instructions for the cottage. Beds were nice, double mattress abit springy but just personal preference. The outside area could benefit from a bit of TLC, steps up to the property looked a bit scruffy, weeds etc. and the patio area looked abit tired. The parking was great and a bonus for this area, we managed to get a motorbike and vw camper longways in front of the garages! Great location and easy to walk down to the riverfront.

  • "Basically everything was fine and we enjoyed our stay but just 3 points."

We had a lot of trouble finding the house. From the road there is no indication of where number 17A is. We ended wondering if 17 was the one we had rented so we tried it and luckily made contact with its owner via a doorcam who put us right. There is also nothing to show where the car park spaces are, we suggests putting 17A on the garage doors at the back of the spaces to make this clear. Lastly, suggest removing weeds from the steps to the house and from the window boxes; it would’nt take 10 minutes and give a better first impression. On the plus side, everything very clean and very comfy beds.

  • "The property was lovely and really clean except for a couple of food items left in the wardrobe and down the side of the sofa which would have been difficult to spot by the cleaners but became evident during our stay."

It was great to be able to easily walk into town with only a short hill which is partly why we chose the property. The kitchen was well stocked and the shower was the best we’ve experienced with self catering. Parking was a real bonus especially during Regatta week and was adequate for 1 large car. The garden is steep so others might want to be mindful with children, puppies, or old dogs but was suitable for our needs. The beds were super comfy and pillows just right. There was a hairdryer in the property despite being told by the agents there definitely wasn’t one. Also lots of extras such as hoover, airer, iron etc if needed. We agree the TV signal isn’t great but you can sign into various digital providers such as iPlayer and Prime. All in all we would recommend the property but prefer using a different agency as they weren’t they easiest to get hold of.

  • "The TV signal is extremely poor some channels would not work at all whilst we were there."

The large rug in the lounge area is a trip hazard has it has started to curl up on the edge. Net curtain needed on the back windows as in previous reviews you ae very overlooked from next door. The clock needs a new battery in lounge. The bath is very high and awkward to get into it needs a grab rail or a non slip mat. Internal doors could do with replacing never seen handles like these. You cannot close a door quietly they clunk shut. Garden is very overlooked from next door. Cooker is very futuristic and took a while to work out how to use it. The extractor fan does not work not even sure if it is connected at all. The weeds down the front steps need clearing as they encroach the pathway. It was ok for what we paid and the good weather was a bonus not far from the town either.

  • "A wonderful 2 week stay at George Cottage, Dartmouth."

Brand new patio furniture and dawn to dusk sunshine, ensured many hours were spent in the garden. The house is a short walk from the Town centre and with the parking space at the cottage, we left the car and exploded on foot. George Cottage was very clean and welcoming, with everything provided to enjoy our stay. The shower was excellent and bedrooms comfortable. Our dog loved the garden and made friends with the friendly neighbours As ever, the local team in Dartmouth were excellent and checked to see that all was well during our stay and arranged a mid stay linen change. There is so much to do in and around Dartmouth and we wholeheartedly recommend George Cottage as being the ideal place to stay whilst exploring or relaxing in glorious Devon

  • "Great place to stay with the additional bonus of parking."

We were disappointed to find that the patio chairs are very rickety and in our view verging on dangerous and, as a previous reviewer had noted, they should really be replaced before an accident happens. It isn't appropriate to promote the property as having a patio and seating if the chairs feel dangerous to use. This was reported to the Owner Relations Expert by email while we were there. Their response was that this comment would be passed onto the owners to let them know the patio chairs are in a dangerous condition with the hope they would purchase a new set of chairs. I do hope they do.

5 minutes walk to town up a gradual hill. House was clean, tidy, well equipped and comfortable. The terrace got sun all day however the garden seats were in a poor state of repair and really need repairing or replacing. The gate cannot be secured if you have children or pets. The design of the knobs on the kitchen cabinets made it quite difficult for my wife and mother to open the fridge and dishwasher door. Taking all that into consideration we would stay again.

  • "Positives - Comfortable and tidy house which overall met our requirements whilst on holiday."

Good location for town and parking a real bonus, particularly as it was Regatta week whilst we were there. Negatives - We could not find a tin opener which would be very useful. Wardrobe doors were a bit stiff and difficult for our daughters to operate without assistance. Bedding slightly stained in places and TV signal poor and frustrating throughout our stay. Having only one bathroom was tricky, especially with two teenage daughters. A cloak room down stairs in the hallway would be a useful addition.

It was lovely to take our dog, however he is small so we could not let him Out in the back garden not on his lead as he could have escaped through the gate at the top of the steps or the slatted fence to the garden next door . As the house is advertised as dog friendly it would have been good of these could have been solid fencing with no chance of escaping . Other than that - a great stay !
