  • "Really enjoyed our stay at Kipper Lodge."

The beds were very comfortable (which is rare to find). Loved the living room aspect and view. The kitchen was just fine although people really need to learn not to use metal on Teflon pans as they get scratched up and that causes the release of plastic particulate. The bathrooms were clean and great. The location was good. Loved the log burner. Agree with previous comments on the flies. Must be the time of year. The cleaners need to clean under the beds, coffee table and sofas. And they need to focus on dusting. They need performance payment where they are paid in accordance to what they clean. This comment has no reflection on the owner as this service is out of their control.

  • "The property needs a deep clean, the windows were full of cobwebs and flies cupboards in kitchen were grubby and had splashes of food or liquid on them."

Tables was filthy and front room coffee table and fire had not been dusted as was thick with dust, skylight window on landing was infested with flies (several flies). Doors upstairs to bathroom dirty. Shower door downstairs broken. The dirt is not a seasons worth , I would say this has accumulated over a period of time.bits of food in kitchen draws and fridge needs replacing. It’s a shame as otherwise the property has all need and location good

  • "We had a lovely stay, and the house was great."

Very narrow street - we just about managed it in our mercedes with about ½ inch either side! No issues with the stay itself, but we were informed after leaving that there was a stain on the carpet in one of the bedrooms. I am 100% adamant that we did not cause this stain, and , as the onus should be on the homeowner to prove that we did, I asked for date and time stamped photos of before and after our stay. Not only were none forthcoming, but my request was not even acknowledged. Instead, money was taken from my card with no further correspondance. I have no issue with paying for any damage we have caused, but in this instance I know we did not. Very disappointing, and left us in a bit of a financial trouble.

  • "We have just had a great stay at Kipper Cottage."

Thanks for the directions as the Sat Nav takes you to the ferry. Lovely property, big and well set out. All 3 kids loved having their own rooms. 2 decent size shower rooms and a separate wc meant no morning queues. Outside space is nice and has the sun all day.Great to have own parking and this is a lot easier than you first think. A couple of minutes walk into the harbour where there are plenty of shops, restaurants and pubs. We took the dog and had some nice walks along the coastal path and visited a couple of coves. Tough on the knees walking back up.Overall a relaxing holiday

  • "Bin situation a bit confusing, no bin liners available for us."

Need to be aware of the bin collection days. Bin collectors do not tip out the bin.. there was a load of old rotting rubbish at the bottom of the bin. Recycling is available although the book says none is provided. No electric car option Washing machine/Tumble dryer option would be useful. Unable to remove linin as per instructions as there were no options on where to put them in, I think it was bin liners 95% great place though and excellent advice and information given in the welcome book, only pointing out the above to be helpful rather than criticise, they did not spoil our stay at all!

  • "Kipper Lodge is beautifully presented & stylish - the photos are a good indication."

Very clean & well equipped with everything you need. I made a note from previous reviews & took a baking tray & clothes airer/dryer which were needed & the only suggestion I’d give the owners. The vehicle access is a bit tricky but again reading the reviews, we noted that a wider car than our Kia Sorento made it through the width restriction down the lane. I think parking for 2 small cars is a bit optimistic - they’d have to be tiny but our 1 large car was fine at an angle. The proximity to the town centre is great & Dartmouth is easily walkable. There are plenty of boat trips; ferries & trains on offer to save you driving anywhere.

  • "Property was better than I had expected, the only drawback being the road to the house."

We arrived in a big car which was 6 ft wide so we managed to get through the bollards to the property and park. On leaving the house to go home we encountered a parked car, at the end of this road a person had parked his car whilst packing to go home.? Anyway after a short time they showed up apologised and moved. Their car was a lot smaller than the car we were in. The road we found out was used frequently but cars were smaller, so beware if your car is wide. But other than this slight problem we enjoyed our stay at Kipper Lodge.

  • "Enjoyed our stay at Kipper Lodge but a few small issues."

Firstly, the distance and hill from the town meant it was difficult walking for aging father-in-law. Our mid-sized car could only just get to the house due to narrow access road…lucky we didn’t have anything bigger! The house was lovely and charming but the kitchen was missing any baking trays. There was no sun parasol for the terrace and we couldn’t find anywhere to hang wet clothes. Some trim had come off the kitchen window (which we put back in place). The freezer needed de-icing. We would have appreciated a spare key and only found out that we could have had one when we returned the key at the end of the holiday.

  • "Kipper lodge is a lovely holiday home, fully equipped with everything you need."

Clean and tidy, with a great outdoor area.. Comfortable beds with superb bedlinen and towels. Location is perfect, might be better if description read parking for one, not two cars, we found it impossible to park two cars in parking space, so we used park and ride carpark. The house would benefit from a full length mirror. Overall we all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, we highly recommend Kipper lodge and would love to return.

  • "Fantastic location and property."

2 mins walk into Dartmouth was perfect. Lovely and clean with a well equipped kitchen. The narrow street was a bit of worry but our XC60 fitted down OK and having its own parking was great.

  • "Absolutely beautiful, high standard of cleanliness and lovely decor."

Large living spaces, even the single bed room is big. Fresh linen and towels, plenty of cutlery, crockery, pots, pans and containers. Lovely outdoor area, we were lucky enough to have sun so could sit out. The road is narrow to get to property, there is a 6ft width restriction, but not a problem. We had two cars an estate and saloon, both able to park, though have to jiggle abit to park, but again not an issue. Hope to visit again, we took our Labrador who had great fun too

About the location

DARTMOUTH

Totnes 12 miles.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
